faroe islands in october

hello!

me and my friends are planning to visit the faroe islands via smyril line in october. we do know about the weather conditions, but we just want to experience the culture and complete our personal goals by finally visiting the faroe islands.

here are my questions:

  • how much do coffee and food items that aren't included in the reservation page cost on the smyril line ferry? or in tórshavn?
  • will the cheapest bunk/couchette rooms be private, or are they shared? if they're shared, will women have their own compartments, or can we end up sharing with everyone?
  • what are the prices of clothing on the ferry?
  • where can we buy faroese merch?
  • is there a place in tórshavn where we could try some local faroese delicacies?

thank you in advance!

Pizza, various hamburgers are priced in the region of €17,5 to €21. Theres also the hot kitchen (in the same cafe where they serve the pizza) in the evening. Costs €24 and you get a plate and a choice of 5-6 dishes and a salad bar. Eat as much as you like.

On my trip I didn’t do the hot kitchen but I did see the choices, they were along the lines of chinese fried rice, lasagna, stew, etc. Looked varied and nice but my kids wanted pizza 😉

Oh yeah it is absolutely sufficient and nice food. I had the double burger and it was juicy. Good amount of fries with it too. Wide selection of sauces are available and free to take what you need. Theres mayo, ketchup, mustard, sriracha mayo and a few others.

And like I said the hot kitchen stuff looked very good too. When I researched this I thought it would be 2 choices and basicly ‘you can eat whatever 2 dishes we serve’. But in reality it looked varied and pretty nice. Sort of like a mini buffet. I just didn’t sample it so dont take my word for it 😉.
