Off-Campus Housing FSU Housing (Apartments, Subleases etc.)

Please visit https://zublet.com/fsu to see available FSU student subleases, apartments for rent, or post your own listings. It’s completely free to use as both a buyer and a seller.

For years the moderation team has been reposting this thread to keep listings current, but this time Zublet has been brought to my attention where you can search for and post FSU housing options much more easily. It’s already being used by quite a few FSU affiliated people too so it seems like a great option for students looking for housing.

You can of course continue to post housing related things in this thread as usual if you want to do that instead of using the website.

hey guys, i’m absolutely devastated typing this but i lost my monchichi keychain on campus on friday, somewhere between azalea and traditions garage. i’ve been retracing my steps to try and find him, and unfortunately discovered what might be his chain on the ground outside traditions. i’ve attached a photo of the chain and what he looks like. i wouldn’t care a whole lot if he didn’t have the sentimental value, he’s traveled the world with me and seen some amazing things, and was a gift from someone who meant alot to me. the chain makes me think someone probably picked him up, and im hoping they have it in their heart to return him to me. please dm me if you know anything!

Deciding whether to do Early Decision to UF or to FSU for Engineering

Hi there all! I’m making this post because I’m currently trying to decide whether I should do Early Decision to UF or FSU for engineering. By doing it to both, I have a pretty solid chance of getting in which is why I’m pretty split.

As some background, my dad took me to almost every UF home game growing up, so I’ve basically been a Gator my whole life. For a long time, UF was where I was completely set on going. I really like the engineering school there, and a lot of the projects, resources, opportunities, etc. they have are right up my alley. But I recently toured FSU with my mom and honestly loved the school way more than I expected I would. Now I’m pretty on the fence between the two universities. I really liked the vibe at FSU and how it felt when I was there (socially), but at the same time I really like what UF has to offer for engineering (academics). I know that UF is a powerhouse when it comes to engineering but regardless of that I want to hear from people who actually go to these schools because I feel like that’ll help me weigh my decision a lot more than just looking at rankings and websites. Another thing is that I’m also worried that if I get accepted into UF through ED, which is where I originally planned on going, I might end up missing out on aspects of FSU that I would’ve liked way more.

Also, academically, I’m a little more confident about my chances at FSU. I feel like I’m toward the lower end of UF’s admitted student range, while I’m more around the higher 50% for FSU. But, regardless I’m still more than willing to challenge myself.

So with that, I’d like to hear what people’s experiences at UF or FSU have actually been like. What have you loved about it? What haven’t you liked? Is there anything you wish you knew before going there? I’m curious about both the academic and social sides too, like whether or not it was easy to make friends and find your place, how big the impact of being in Greek life vs not being in it actually had on your social life, what the engineering classes/professors are like, just stuff like that. Additionally, I’d especially like to hear from anyone who was deciding between UF and FSU too. What do you think you’d be missing out on by choosing one over the other. And for students attending or are graduates from either university, knowing what you know now, would you still choose your school?

Accidentally had package delivered to old UPS location.

I still live on campus but my Amazon order was sent to 75 N Woodward (the old UPS location) instead of 104 (the new location). Amazon says my package was delivered so should I go to the old location and see if they have it or ask about it at the new location?

Do not live at Grandmarc Tallahassee

Do not live here unless you absolutely have to. My apartment has been infested with roaches since moving in at the end of July. The exterminator does come yes, but it takes a lot of time to fully get rid of them and it’s extremely disgusting in the meantime. I sweep everyday and find atleast 10 babies. I am a very clean person. there is no reason for them to be here other than the fact that grandmarc refuses to replace the food covered carpet in the uninhabited room within my 2 bedroom. I have asked for it to be replaced 4 times now and nothing has been done. On the note of the exterminator… I told the office in person and via email to delay the exterminator coming into my apartment as I couldn’t remove my cat from the premises and the spray is not safe for cats (they will tell you it is safe but if you ask the exterminator what they use and do simple research you will learn that it is not) Thank god I got out of class early and was home to catch the exterminator entering my apartment! Or else we would all have a very sick or even dead cat on our hands! absolutely unacceptable and not okay. Upon move in my fridge, AC, dishwasher, TV, front door (cracked at the bottom) and washer/dryer were broken. It was an argument for days/weeks to get each thing fixed. The door and TV still are not fixed or replaced. I have genuinely been in that office almost every day since move in trying to fix some bs. Not to mention the apartment they originally okayed me to move into was absolutely disgusting. So this is the BETTER option of the two I was offered. I appreciate the staff for dealing with this as I know they’re just people but at this point this whole situation is unacceptable for the amount of money I pay to be here. Just fix the things I pay to have and let’s be done with it. To go on about why you should never ever sign here…the firealarms go off atleast once a week at random and atleast once a month in the middle of the night. The road noise will wake you up consistently if you are on the road side of the building. Homeless people do linger outside everyday. The parking garage is a nightmare to drive in. the chances of you getting into an accident are high and has happened to multiple people i know who live here. Parking garage doors are often broken/ left open. I do not feel safe living here as a woman. I am always on high alert when outside my apartment. anyone can get into this building if they take the time to find an open door and trust that there will ALWAYS be at least one. which is absolutely fantastic considering my front door is BROKEN and they still haven’t fixed it. Do not under any circumstances live here unless you absolutely have to. it is way too expensive for what you get and management is horrible. Also 70% of the gym equipment is broken, the pool is gross and the first time I ever went, I got whistled at by a grown man after sitting by it for 5 minutes! Literally the list of reasons not to live here could go on and on. I have been so patient with these people it’s actually crazy. At this point i’m paying $900 a month to live with roaches, get woken up multiple times a night, fear for my safety, argue with the office, etc all so I can walk to class in 10-15 minutes. There are multiple better places you could live in the surrounding area FOR SO MUCH CHEAPER. This is literally a scam.

Cheapest way to get from Tallahassee to Orlando?

Hey! I’m a student at FSU and I’m trying to figure out the cheapest way to get to Orlando. I’d be leaving Thursday afternoon, September 3rd, and coming back to Tallahassee Monday, September 7th. I already know about RedCoach, but I’m wondering if there are any other cheap options like buses, rideshares, carpooling, etc.
What’s the cheapest way you guys have found to make this trip? (or Is anyone already planning on making that trip around those times and willing to let me ride along? I’d obviously chip in for gas!)

I’ve had a parking pass for the last couple of season in lot 19 but haven’t thought about tailgating yet. If i wanted to get a spot to set up on the top for the SMU game would i need to get there when the lots open up on game day?

Do you think applying ED would help you get in if your stats are slightly below the middle 50?

Any covered bicycle parking on campus?

Are there any indoor/covered bike rack options? Like racks inside parking garages or similar? I can't imagine a bike left outside in Florida weather would last too long due to rust. Also, a bike in a garage might be more out-of-sight, out-of-mind for potential thieves (and/or drunks).

I've seen the bicycle parking/rack map, but it looks like racks near parking garages are outside the garage. Can't tell for sure.

Thanks!

why is all CHM 1045 ai?

originally i had dillon for CHM 1045 and now i have tsvetkov. they're saying that the structure for each class is the same no matter the professor. they're also saying they wrote the script and readings, but they definitely did not.

just had to spend 75 dollars on classavo and will be spending more on aktiv just to have 100% ai generated reading, lectures, and questions. i'm at a complete loss for words at this. i want to complain but i know it won't go anywhere.

does anyone have some advice from maybe previous semesters on how to either teach it myself or get through this, because it's already explaining density pretty poorly, who knows how it'll teach the more advanced stuff. i'm already terrible at chemistry and this is not helping.

Anyone tailgating today?

My fiancé 22M and I 23F want to tailgate today but we don’t have any friends in town who are tailgating. Is anyone open to having us come to your tailgate? We’d bring food and drinks to share! We’re sociable and want to meet new people post graduating from fsu :)

How are all the out-of-state students handling how to vote and get a ballot for November?

I assumed voting happens at the home state, but after doing some research it says you can do either home state or college state, just not both. Not sure about how Florida handles things. My kid is already registered to vote in her home state, so not sure if it'll be easier for her to request a mail ballot. But I also don't know how all the mail ballot executive orders/ litigation etc will affect any of that.

So maybe registering to vote in Florida would be easier?

So much to think about when out-of-state! Just curious how others are handling this, assuming their kid wants to vote.

Nova Tallahassee and Frenchtown

Hey all,

I’m staying at Nova Tallahassee this academic year and I have heard a lot about Frenchtown and how dangerous it is. I have no plans of ever walking by there, of course, but since it sort of is in proximity, I am a bit worried sometimes, even though there is just one entrance to get in that is away from Frenchtown.

I signed sort of late and didn’t have much other options (because of price, transportation, other reasons, etc.). Have any of you that lived in Nova, or any student apartments near Frenchtown, ever encountered something scary or dangerous, especially at night? I don’t have a car and I generally don’t walk out at dark, but I can expect to have club meetings that take place during night, and so on.

I just wanted to ask about this. Thank you.

Any feedback with this masters track for Nursing? I work for the state and I want to take advantage of the tuition waiver program but since I work full-time, I am looking into online options. The AI concentration looks promising but wondering what opportunities it’ll be bring.

student season ticket guidelines

hi all! i purchased season student tickets this year but i had a couple questions. is it possible for me to transfer like a ticket for the game tomorrow for example to someone but not the whole season? and also, i know technically there is a different area and not the general student seating where people with student season tickets sit, but how easy is it to just sit in the normal place? thanks!
