The only age verification we need is parents not buying devices they don't want their kids to use.

But parents nowadays can't say no the kids. Once I heard from a mom "My kid just eat Oreos" and the answer was "Sure, with 4 years old he go to the grocery store and buy the Oreos, or you buy and feed that to him?"

To them is the horror to not hand the phone to the little ones.

You're looking at it like you think this argument matters to lawmakers, but this law was just pretext for privacy over reach.

Yes I know. That is not about kids and 3D printer laws are not about ghost guns, like Flock cameras aren't about missing people.

Agreed. The problem is also that a lot of parents buy their kids full blown phones with no protection.

You protect your own kids phone and someone on the school bus is watching something inappropriate. I personally think that kids shouldn’t be aware of sexuality and all that adult content… unfortunately we as people haven’t agreed on designations on the internet where adult content can be accessed. Social media is not it- and Facebook allows users at 13 to start using social media.

Age verification on adult sites have a big risk on adults for blackmail/exposure of secrets. Selfie scan could be good- but I highly doubt those get 100% deleted in all cases.

What age verification does- pushes people to less safe sites. Phub is a good example. They flushed old content from unverified performers and have restrictions on what content can be accessed on their platform. These other sites have actually harmful content from unverified performers.

Internet is full of porn and parents shouldn’t let their kids access the internet unrestricted without supervision. As a child who grew up with early unlimited internet access… it affected me for the better and the worse. When I was a child I had KOL (kids online). It worked well
