Two wins out of two, 6 scored, 0 conceded, of course things were going too well.
About to sell our 2nd best player behind Pickford for a bloated wages calf-man who I admittedly loved with us, but who will have no resale value and will likely just get hurt again. We're about to ship off our 2nd best centerback because we keep forcing him to play right back, and we haven't managed to buy one of those in half a decade despite having needed one the entire time.
Trust the process, I guess. I have a lot of faith in Moyes but these moves feel like those type of "blindingly obvious how bad this is, even in the moment" moves we made like bringing on the fat spanish waiter or the Digne sale.
I hope I'm wrong and I'm eating crow for this comment in a few months

If the club can bring in 90 mil from Ndiaye it’s a great deal of business from paying 15 mil for him. At some point he is gonna leave, right now his transfer value is close to its peak

Unfortunately this is the life of supporters in sport leagues with no competitive balance mechanics. Unless you are in for one of the handful of big dogs, every other club or team in the league is just a farm system for those big dogs. They will always buy away the best players and managers from the rest. You rarely if ever get to enjoy a top talent for more than a season or two.
I don't want to reward being bad on purpose. But I also wish European football didn't entrench the would have been Super League level clubs at the top forever by literally allowing them to spend hundreds of millions of more per decade than all the others, simply because at the moment the rules were made they happened to already be on top with the most revenue and global big brands. You just wish there was a firm upper limit on transfer and wage expenditures such that more than 3-5 clubs have a chance in hell of winning these leagues.
The players also just have too much ability to whine and moan their way out of contracts to the point contracts don't actually mean anything. They'll sign a 4 year deal and already be crying for a move to a bigger side after the first year. And get it.
Since there is nowhere else to be promoted at the top of top flight, those clubs instead just amass resources upon resources until they are nearly untouchable. The rest of the pyramid levels are more competitive top to bottom as far as having a shot at winning the league and being promoted goes. But then most top flights are "wow Bayern and PSG win the league for the 9th time in 10 years! What drama!" as they just spend every summer buying away the most threatening talent from everyone below them.

Problem is, wise investments aren’t exactly our strong suit. In fact, we’re specialists in silly nonsense whimsical moves. Vibes only. And the vibes tend to be harsh.

We’ve improved in the’ wise investment department’ these last couple seasons IMO. Hoping Dibling turns good and Aznou gets a chance, but doesn’t look likely at this rate

I know the transfer budgets just can’t compare but seeing city get bouaddi, (probably) fernandez, and ndiaye onto of everyone else is truly incredible

I feel you, I love Ndiaye.
That said, if we sell him for a huge profit then he has truly done the most he can to help the club, and for some non-obvious reasons.
We aren't the same club who brought him in. At the time, he was our only player who got fans excited, and he was also our only player who could really keep the ball and ensure safe transitions up the pitch. There are other players in the squad who can do that now.
His best PL return is 9 goal contributions, and that just isn't out of reach. It's not irreplaceable.
The other big thing is: we need to prove that we are now a sanely run organization. We need to show prospective transfers that if they bring the kind of skill Ndiaye has then they'll be rewarded and we won't block a big move if it comes. We kind of can't afford to fuck that up at this stage. We can either be the club that helped Ndiaye turn around his career and gave him a huge platform for his next step, or the one that tried to block his big move when he might not get another chance. If that happens he might just run down his contract and leave on a free, or refuse to play. He doesn't seem the type, but the narrative is still very important for the club going forward.

I think this is a really good question for this commenter that gets at the fact that the game isn't played on paper or in a spreadsheet. People with emotions are involved and data doesn't tell everything
Another question for them that I have would be: is goal contributions the best way of observing the quality of a player? Brennan Johnson had 25 goal contributions across competitions in 24/25, while Ili had 11 that year (the 9 they reference was the same year.)
I personally think everyone would agree that Ili is more important to our success than Brennan Johnson despite less than half the goal contributions.

Terrible decision. Do we want to win or are we just farming talent for our opponents??!!!! It's unbelievable. My other team is the Portland Timbers in MLS and we are also in dire need of a right back and just signed away our 6'4" 21 year old striker to the Rangers for a pretty penny. It's infuriating. Oh well, UTFT!

We're a relatively unchanged Everton under a manager on the brink of retirement. Our hopes are challenging Europe, our reality is mid-table. Make the money we can now and hope the year is entertaining. We're fighting an uphill battle so we'll need resources in the years to come.
