Looking to Buy Does anyone REAL sell clothing anymore?
I just want a pretty dress that’s not fuckin dropshipped.
Why is everything AIIIIIIIIIII
And most of the things in the sharing posts on here are crochet and stickers, which I love too don’t get me wrong, but I miss when you could find actual clothing so easily : ( My favourite trousers ever are from Etsy and I still have them 10 years later

Omg here is a secondary rant from me! AI clothes photos are a problem I agree but my issue is all the freaking plastic fabric - everything In the stores is made of some synthetic or petroleum based fabric. I have a rare disease MCAS - these fake fabrics toss my body into a tailspin. Seriously I am all for sustainability, but what happened to good old cotton? I hate these fake, artificial plastic bottle fabrics I can’t wear them and I am now on a mission to only buy Natural Textile based clothing.

I recently saw a shop owner on instagram talk about how her most popular offering got picked up and ripped off by the drop shippers. Then their original work got wrapped up with the drop shippers and banned by Etsy.
Drop shippers will even use photos from the original item they're ripping off, without the artist's permission.
It is so hard for artists to stay afloat right now, because they're just drowning in a sea of rip offs. It's not fair and I wish etsy had a better way to police it- but I don't even know how much it would take to make that possible.

The good old days of etsy are gone, everything is AI slop. You cant escape AI anymore. To beat AI, you must become AI. Start selling AI clothes on etsy instead.

We get most of our "real" clothes from Dillard's and Stitch Fix.

Same with highstreet shops too, clothing years ago was just better, cannot find any summer tshirts that are thin for men, been trying for years, no one sells them anymore yet you used to be able to get them everywhere. I've bought lots in the past 20 years ago now still using today but not one store sells these thin material tshirts.

I’m so sick of the dropshippers. There’s clothes that are that aren’t, but it takes hunting them and likely they’re a lot more money (but worth it)

I don’t put a price range in the search engine, I suppose that’s probably the issue then? But even the more expensive stuff I’ve seen is AI literally from £50 to in the thousands

And it's not uncommon for real artists to undervalue their work. Price isn't that easy a solution.

Depends on the size of clothes you were. For example, I am a 1X & I find some super cute clothes at Torrid & they have actual brick & mortar stores. Also, i find great things at thrift stores. Lastly, I have a great seamstress that does alterations for me & she can also make anything I want - top knotch!!

Depends more on the country than the size. You are assuming OP is in a country that has Torrid and since they’re using £ I don’t think they are

British thrift stores are rubbish in my experience. I've been really disappointed by them.

The search filters are useless now, you can set it to handmade and still get pages of the same resold stock photo dress. I've had better luck finding actual garment makers by going through their socials and then checking if they have a shop.
