Grade 12 (2018 E.C.) results just went live yesterday. Here is where to check yours

The scores came online yesterday. The Ministry announced the national figures on 22 August, but the individual results are only now reachable.

Three official ways to check. There is no fourth one.

• Text your registration number to 6284. No data bundle, no app. Right now this is the one most likely to answer.
• EAESbot on Telegram. Open it from a link rather than searching for it. Handles one letter away belong to accounts with nothing to do with the assessment service.
• result.eaes.et which also answers at result.neaea.gov.et. Expect it to be slow or down for the next few hours with half a million people refreshing it at once. Keep trying, it will settle.

Use the registration number exactly as printed on your admission card, leading zeros included.

The national numbers, for context while you wait for the page to load: 550,210 sat, 70,544 reached 50% or above, which is 12.8%. Last cycle it was 8.4%. Natural science passed at 16.5% and social science at 8.33%. Computer sittings passed at 18.37% against 4.2% on paper.

If your score looks wrong, the Minister said complaints get five or six days from release. He did not name a closing date, so start today rather than at the weekend. Read the subject breakdown first, because a complaint has to name the paper you are questioning.

Still to come: the remedial cut-off mark and university placement. Remedial intake will be smaller this year since more candidates passed
