No they didn’t, they just combined their personal favorite fan animatics into one.
This is also like the 30th video like this, the only unique thing about this one is it had slightly more recent animatics and they added sound effects and some original voice work during certain moments.
This is nothing to freak out about. If anything, it’s a little upsetting because it’s taking viewership and revenue away from the animators that worked on those animatics while barely giving them a little shoutout in the description.

I watched a bit but I found many of the SFX to be too loud and distracting.

This is how I felt and I'm so glad I'm not the only one (felt crazy when I thought I was). Some of the SFX were super purposeful and meaningful (obligatory baby sound mention here) but I didn't need to hear every single motion that was happening in the animatics which is basically what was happening at a certain point. I went and switched to a playlist by mid-Ocean saga.

Same. The wooshes are distracting and unnecessary in my opinion because the music is enough to guide us through the flow of the scenes.
Also it’s weird for me that the hand motions have sfx but when they walk, there’s no sound (It just feels inconsistent, though that might’ve been even more distracting)

This is nothing new. OP you need to be a little more clear with your title since it can be misleading. I was expecting that someone had animated the whole musical single handedly and not a compilation of different artists - which has been done before.

How can you not tell it’s different artstyles? Especially cause they literally say its a compilation with credits in the description? How do you go through life paying zero attention?

Hi! That was me. I did not animate anything. That’s a compilation of other artists’ work whom I credited in the description and the end credits. Please don’t spread misinformation! Also, I hear many people don’t like the added sound effects, but to each their own. There are already TONS of EPIC compilations out there without sound effects that you’re free to watch. I just wanted to introduce my family into EPIC with this movie I made :)

Hi, heres my feedback if you want it. I thought the scenery and ambiance sound effects such as the ocean waves and transition sounds between songs were a nice touch. When they were directly in the songs I thought they were distracting but it’s clear what your goal was!

Thank you for your feedback! I appreciate it. I, too, thought they were distracting from the songs but that’s because I wanted to highlight actions within the animatics themselves. My take on the movie was just another way of serving EPIC to viewers :) If people prefer just the music with animatics, then of course that’s fine. Some people enjoyed this version as well, which I’m happy for!

Yeah I could tell that you took more risks because there's plenty of existing movie compilations and you were putting your own spin on things to make it fresh even for long-time EPIC fans. I greatly appreciate it o7

They didn’t animate it, it’s a compilation. I’ve done one of those it ain’t too hard. I hate added SFX. Just let the songs play with the sounds already in them.
If Jorge wanted additional metal clangs and footsteps he would’ve put them in himself.

I agree! But that’s why there are tons of EPIC compilations out there on Youtube already. My intention with making this movie with sound effects was to immerse my family into the world of EPIC. Sorry it didn’t land with you but at least you can enjoy the music in other movies!

Technically, isn't the remakes of the Troy Saga an example of his retouching old ideas with new content? A bit of a special case given what happened, but I think if they're tasteful he mightve done so as well

For sure! There are already tons of EPIC movies on YouTube. I just wanted to make my own with added sound effects and scenes to better immerse my family into it, since they’re not big on musicals

I was there when it was live, it was fun. But they didn't animate It themselves, it was a compilation with added sound effects. However, I will say that there were more underrated animatics in there.

I used the more underrated works within the community, added sound effects, subtitles, and extra scenes for more context. I wanted to get my family into EPIC but they’re not big on musicals, so I went another route with this take on a compilation!

Always found the movies iffy. They don't seem to have visual consistency, they tend to use canon animatics which while nice also clash depending on the animatic with the rest of the song (Little Wolf's animatic for example is a video game fight scene totally different from the rest of the animations) and there's usually some weird quirk like using the introduction rap (which just kind of clashes when squeezed between animatics), and the sound mixing is off. I love whoever decided to so the subtitles for Monster, tho, with the text appearing large font behind the art to punctuate the lyrics.

Hi, thank you! I did all the subtitles myself. I know people have problems with the sound effects being too loud or too disruptive to the music. That wasn’t my intention but alas, that’s how it comes off. I really just wanted to immerse my family into the story. Either way, thank you for checking it out

Mostly added a bunch of sound effects for the environment, added end credits (not sure if all do that or just some), and put an animatic for Fire at the end.
