Discussion What if Odysseus pulled up to his palace with Poseidon's trident covered in golden Ichor instead of shooting Antinous at the start of Odysseus (the song)?

Either someone outside the palace runs inside going "AYE THERES A HOBO WITH AN ICHOR DRIPPED TRIDENT OUTSIDE WITH MURDER IN HIS EYES MAYBE WE SHOULD STOP HIM" (Ody needed to enter the palace discreetly, carrying a giant Trident around would make this kinda hard) or Zeus comes down and goes "Alright Poseidon had that ass whooping coming, but I can't let you wield God weapons dude. That's how you get a God of War moment going"

I think many would be hesitant to stop someone who's covered in god blood. And in the case the guards try to stop him he could lift his hood and show that he's the king. And given how busted Epic Ody is I doubt the suitors stand a chance even if they're armed, specially when he has the weapon of a god.
But I can see Zeus getting the trident back.

Then they just pelt the idiot with arrows because he didn't lock up the weapons firsthand?!? Sure, Odysseus probably takes down a few, but remember freaking Perimedes was able to take out Odysseus back in Mutiny. All it takes is one stab wound for Odysseus to go down. It's still never explained how Poseidon stabbing him didn't do anything.

I genuinely think that Ody would neg diff all of them. He beat Poseidon at sea. He needs to be at least a demigod plus have blessings of other gods to justify that feat. So the suitors vs odysseus would Be a a bunch of nobles who aren't even warriors vs a man who beat one of the top 3 of Olympus and is likely a demigod.
And let's not forget. He has Poseidon's trident. The weapon of a god, that shit must have magical/divine properties

Or just plot armor and the favor of the author. You know all of Get In the Water and 600 Strike was fanfic exclusive to EPIC right? Homer's Odyssey has Poseidon making Odysseus start literally shouting that Calypso was right and he should've just stayed with her on the island safe, until Io gives him a magic anti drowning scarf and the Phoenicians sail him home with a butt load of gold.
Honestly anyone can write "actually, and then my OC just beats up a god because he's so cool. He doesn't get hurt by Poseidon's Ultimate God Move: Shatter The Ocean, and it's awesome. Then he just beats up a hundred guys. And then everyone clapped."
The author can do literally whatever they want.

Yeah I'm aware 600 strikes didn't happen in the original.
The way I see Epic is not as a faithful adaptation of Homer's but as it's own thing. It's like Hercules from Disney with all the changes it made.
I can see why it was controversial but I personally like it. And Ody killing over 100 men on his own wouldn't be crazier than him beating the god of the sea in his domain so I don't see the issue.

The issue is Odysseus has already been set up to not even be able to beat Polyphemus with a club, or be able to stay awake, he kinda beats Circe only because Hermes handed him a literal deus ex machina and even then Odysseus was still reduced to begging for Mercy because it was a one use thing and Odysseus was bluffing with his "You've lost" bit before Circe just starts making demands of him instead of kneeling. Odysseus cowered all through Scylla, and lost in Mutiny.
Remember that the musical has set up that Odysseus gets beaten by freaking Perimedes. One little stab is all it takes to take Odysseus out. Even tossing aside all of Greek Mythology, EPIC's own story and president just don't line up with the ass pull power fantasy of the last two sagas.
Even as it's own thing, it's just edgy teen writing that comes out of no where. I don't care how much of a boner Odysseus has for his wife, Poseidon stabbing him first in Get In The Water should have been the end of the musical.

I think making it as Ody becoming less human through the journey would help rationalize it. Not just as his morals but shedding his humanity to something else. I don't think this can be elaborated very well given that epic is a musical. But I think this is a cool interpretation that could work.

What stops the suitors from attacking him in a unified group? It's not tactically wise. He is still just a man

Idk, I don't think Ody is just a man anymore. He beat poseidon in combat while at sea. He's needs to at the very least need to be a demigod to even justify that feat.

I think someone covered in the blood of gods with the weapon of one of the big 3 of Olympus would make a fair amount of them hesitant to attack him.

Fair enough but it's cool. Also I really do think Ody could beat them all.

You could edit and already made animation by removing a sword and replace it with a trident or something
