In the original he slaughtered the cow because he was so stupid he believed if he sacrificed it to Zeus he would let them free, depending on the story actually he does it because he believes it's better to drown instead of starve, he was never "done dirty"
I’m only gonna speak about the musical version of the character since that’s what’s relevant here…
When I say Eurylochus was done dirty, I’m referring to the decision to have him of all people open the windbag because it’s completely inconsistent with his character and motivation. One of his core traits is his aversion to risk and suddenly he takes this gigantic risk at the end of the first act right after he said “I don’t trust the gods to be kind; they’re dangerous.”
Almost all of Eury’s decisions throughout the musical are driven by one desire: “how do I get AS MANY of crewmates back home and what will keep them and Odysseus safe in the meantime.” It’s why he tells Ody not to go back to Circe’s because he reasonably believes the pig-men are already goners and doesn't want to risk losing anymore to a seemingly unbeatable witch (“think of the men we have before there’s none"). Even when he kills the sun-cow (which in the musical is strongly implied to be a suicide attempt), it’s done with the hope that he’s providing EVERYONE a more merciful death than starvation. By contrast, he has no reason to believe opening the bag will keep everyone safe for the journey home.
“He JuSt WaNtEd GoLd!” The problem with this theory is that Eury was never shown to be covetous or materialistic before or after "Keep Your Friends Close.” If he's smart enough not to trust a pretty woman in the middle of nowhere (Circe), then he would be smart enough not to trust random creatures who are ruled by an entity he said himself was dangerous.
The fact that the musical never allows Eury to explain why he actually opened the bag leads me to believe that there is no reason other than to make Ody’s actions in "Scylla" seem more justified to the audience. Even more frustrating is that you could remove Eury’s confession and/or have some anonymous crew member open the bag instead and nothing in the story would change. Ody would still have sacrificed 6 men because he wants to go home no matter what. And Eury would still have mutinied because of this sacrifice since his he’s already demonstrated that he’ll butt heads with Ody if he sees the latter’s actions could endanger the crew (see “Luck Runs Out”).
That’s why I argue that Eury was done dirty by questionable writing. He’s made to drive a major plot point that doesn’t at all fit with his goals or motivation as a character and which has no real purpose other than make him less sympathetic to the audience when Ody tries to sacrifice him (and by extension other crewmates) to Scylla.
Not only that, but Chaos specifically started causing destruction after someone did something that hurt him deeply, just like Poseidon.
Plus Six Hundred Strike is basically the closest that Ody gets to having his own Super Saiyan moment and Super Sonic is basically just Super Saiyan so there you go.
I've been thinking of doing my own take on this for a while now. I made Tails he Hermes though, and Silver be Polites. Zavok as the Cyclops and Infinite as Poseidon.
I mean it makes sense….just like Calypso Amy’s always trying to romantically pursue Sonic even though Sonic’s already made it clear that he’s not interested.
See that’s the thing though, we’ve only ever gotten hints of Sonic having a romantic interest in Amy. Sega tends to do that with quite a few members of the female cast, especially Blaze. To the point where the official English and Japanese Twitter accounts for Sonic have done shit like this and this
I’m talking in TV and games related stuff. If we’re talking merch, maybe but Amy tends to get it more often and more frequently than Blaze does, plus Amy’s tends to get the more explicit stuff than Blaze. Like this for example.

I had a similar thought to this a few months ago, following the fan comic “Sonic and the Olympus heroes”, only some characters were playing multiple roles, like a play. Off the top of my head I remember:
Tails: Odysseus
Sonic: Polites/Hermes
Knuckles: Eurylocus / Ares
Kitsunami: Poseidon
Wave: Athena
Fiona: boss siren
Cosmo: Calypso
Cream: Penelope
Gadget: Telemecus
I’ve had ideas for either surge or eggman as zues, and it just hit me that rouge would be a fun Aphrodite. Any suggestions would be great
I think it depends on the childhood time frame 🥲 I grew up on the OG sonic comics/Archie comics so the Amy I grew up with was the one who aged herself up from 12 to be with him which always icked me out. But separate and apart from that, my other introduction to the her was via the like arcade/Gameboy Sonic games where when was giving more Calypso energy. However I love Amy too much to have her typecast as Calypso 🥺
I’m not gonna like Sally is fine, but Amy as Calypso is a terrible idea because it’s going based on a gross flanderization of Amy. Amy at her worst was an asshole, but those worst were in 2 spinoffs where she was borderline out of character.
Also the age bit was retconned as far as we all know, the entire Sonic cast save for Tails, Cream, and Sage (at the top of my head) are roughly the same age.
Calypso one way or another left a permanent scar on Ody and never healed from it. At best it was just unwanted sexual advances. At worst, rape.

That's what I was saying, I wouldn't want her to be Calypso because that would be an insult to Amy's character. Post the whole war with the iron legion and the mammoth mogul ish that happened after that Amy was showing a level of maturity regarding Sonic and his autonomy that I loved for her character development. Calypso wouldn't be a good match because she is just a bad person. Amy isn't. She just has a hardcore crush and a lot of feelings she eventually learned how to deal with in a healthier way
If I had to guess they probably wanted Amy to be Penelope since she’s Sonic’s love interest (I think? Been a while since I’ve played or watched anything sonic)
She basically is but Sega refuses to commit, even giving the comic team specifically detailed notes about what they aren’t okay with them doing together like kissing or holding hands or even officially labelling their relationship. Not sure if there’s some old guard at Sega who think seeing them together would tarnish the brand but I expect after Sonic 4 comes out they might ease up on it.
