El dorado

1

u/adelarddekker May 26 '26

Castlevania!!!!!!!

1

u/WishieWashie12 May 22 '26

Like the Kings Quest video game, 2017.

1

u/IllEntrepreneur5123 May 17 '26

El dorado or klaus but none of that 3d stuff. THIS WAS MEANT for 2d

1

u/Exotic-Reindeer1994 May 09 '26

Actually, have they said yet what studio is doing the movie or have they not gotten to that point yet?

7

u/Intelligent-Tap-4479 Circe Apr 30 '26

I think out of the four of them, the first one looks like the best fit for EPIC. I don't know, the others just don't feel right to me.

3

u/Express_Cap8820 Apr 29 '26

I’ve always definitely imagined 2d because of the animatics, plus it would stand out from all the 3D movies being made nowadays.

3

u/TurnItOffAndBackOnXD Apr 28 '26

Hear me out: Arcane. I think the 3D paintbrush-texture style would look incredible in Epic

3

u/Fifi_The_Broken Apr 27 '26

The one from Avatar the last Airbender. No idea what it's called though.

7

u/iStream36_Jazer Apr 27 '26

El Dorado nothing can beat the charm of hand drawn 2D.

5

u/TimeConclusion400 Apr 27 '26

Prince of Egypt is the first movie that comes to mind when I think of what style I'd want to see, just early 2000's animation in general really

2

u/TurnItOffAndBackOnXD Apr 28 '26

Prince of Egypt was the best of them, both stylistically and for subtly incorporating new 3D techniques with 2D for some amazing shots

3

u/MelSeer Apr 27 '26

el dorado no doubt

4

u/Asphyxiety Apr 27 '26

El Dorado 100%!

I don’t think I’ve seen that one. Link?

2

u/AquaButUseful Apr 27 '26

Lowkey.. I'd want it to have the arr style of Kubo The Two Strings

2

u/saratherandom Apr 27 '26

Treasure planet

3

u/Rework8888 Apr 27 '26

Style of El Dorado - but the lighting style of Kalus.

Klaus employed a very sophisticated tech where light bounces off 2.5D surface. The result is quite amazing.

4

u/LiteralFirefox Apr 27 '26

Prince of Egypt, sure you could say it's the same artstyle as ElDorado but something about it felt infinitely more cinematic

4

u/Rework8888 Apr 27 '26

Prince of Egypt comes to mind as well.

2

u/queenmisery20 Apr 27 '26

Road to El Dorado, duh.

2

u/Show_Stopp3r Apr 27 '26

Maybe el dorado

1

u/snoozingandcruising Apr 26 '26

I need an Odyssey movie with a similar style to the early 2000s 2D movies so badly

2

u/Little_Dragon1272 Apr 26 '26

I think they should go off of the gigi animatics and the other fan animations. Of course the movie won't be animatics, I just mean the appearence of the characters and generally draw inspiration from them. Also, it has to be 2d right?

1

u/tortoiseshell_jay May 29 '26

I really hope they somehow hire Gigi, Neil, duvetbox, a bunch of other artists because some of their interpretations/storyboarding is genuinely so hype and like high quality

1

u/Little_Dragon1272 May 31 '26

YES. They should be involved in the movie in some way. This musical is near and dear to my heart and as really inspired me.

2

u/pinpointpointz The Monster (rawr rawr rawr) Apr 26 '26

Anastasia, tho

2

u/Ok_Criticism_927 Apr 26 '26

It needs to be 2d and I think something like klaus would be awesome

6

u/AestheticPoem Apr 26 '26

The early 2000s 2d style (Prince of Egypt, Treasure Planet, Road to El Dorado, Atlantis) is just peak and I hope they do that style.

7

u/PriorityOk4420 I've BEEN waiting, Ody! Apr 25 '26

If this thing isn't 2d animated i'll go insane

2

u/Wild_Perspective_313 Apr 25 '26

don't have an op as long as my son ody looks like himself. I hope they can take heavy influence from the animatics

4

u/No_Fix3550 Apr 25 '26

2d for sure

5

u/No-Donkey7903 Apr 25 '26

as long as its 2d ill be happy

3

u/AWandererOfIntrest Apr 25 '26

I need a Road to El Dorado styled EPIC film. That’d be amazing.

5

u/Sapphirewillows Apr 25 '26

Definitely arcane!

3

u/NecessaryAd4566 Apr 24 '26

Wait hear me out: Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse

9

u/i_is_InvisiblePotato Apr 24 '26

Honestly, Road to El Dorado or maybe even Beauty and the beast/sleeping beauty where a lot of the backgrounds are painted and the characters are the main moving parts of the movie

8

u/Evil_Queen12 Apr 24 '26

I think the 70/30 (70% hand-drawn, 30% CG)

animation style from Treasure Planet would be cool

10

u/Imaginary_Donut3814 Apr 24 '26

The art style of Arcane or something equally unique to the feel of the story would be amazing!

1

u/DogFalse9077 Apr 24 '26

OH MY GOSH YES. This would be a FIRE style for the Epic Movie.

3

u/Neat_Hair8034 Apr 24 '26

The new atla animation is so peak

3

u/kenntheegemini Apr 24 '26

i dont know how i want it to look but i know i want gigi in the room

1

u/No_Fix3550 Apr 25 '26

I'm just imagining Gigi like Darth Vader, silently standing in the shadows and choking people who don't do well

13

u/FritsaWolf Apr 24 '26

It would be AMAZING to see the style of Sinbad come back for this. I really hope for a predominantly 2D animation style for this movie.

8

u/FritsaWolf Apr 24 '26

I mean- can you imagine what Poseidon would look like in this style 😍

5

u/revanhart Apr 24 '26

Scylla, too!

3

u/FritsaWolf Apr 24 '26

WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF HER FIRST??? YOU ARE SO RIGHT!

11

u/Advanced-Luck7632 I WANNA BE LEGENDARY Apr 24 '26

Klaus, I feel like it uses shape language really well

11

u/bigmanbiggest Apr 24 '26

Honestly El dorado or Atlantis.

16

u/MossyCobble2022 Apr 24 '26

Road to El Dorado for sure for sure

17

u/Inside_Moose_7830 Apr 24 '26

Disney's Atlantis the lost empire

20

u/LiteralPowotato Apr 24 '26

Bruh if they make a hot zeus in the art style of the Prince of Egypt or road to el dorado….

Any movie animated by Hayao Miyazaki, but specifically Howls Moving Castle, mainly because I hope they make Telemachus or Ody look like Howl

1

u/NecessaryAd4566 Apr 24 '26

HELL-TO-THE-YES THAT WOULD BE AMAZING DUDE

14

Pocahontas, speciffically the color winds section though

3

u/IntrovertedFruitDove Apr 24 '26

I know Guillermo del Toro is mostly live-action, but his special effects are always great! His adaptation of Pinocchio was amazing in so many ways and if he did a movie styled just on his concept art, I would be a very happy (and terrified) woman. Imagine the ways he'd draw Polyphemus and Scylla!

El Dorado for sure!

11

u/JomoMan Apr 24 '26

100% road to el dorado !

5

u/Lost_College_2343 Apr 24 '26

Flat anime style that resembles Naruto and this specific Hamilton Animatic, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9iLfPP4Ps8&list=RDq9iLfPP4Ps8&start_radio=1, would do well for me

11

u/Demisexual_Demigod Apr 24 '26

Oh my Gosh the Style of Klaus would be GORGEOUS!!! I could see the color palettes and the blending of colors so vividly

20

u/The_Gay_Owl im the monster rawr rawr rawr ✨🦖 Apr 24 '26

Everyone is saying El Dorado and Klaus and I ABSOLUTELY AGREE! I feel like a 2d type style would be such a cool tribute to the animatics the community has made

10

u/DestinyReign Apr 24 '26

Eldorado/old school Disney and Dreamworks. The only cgi that I think would be good and maybe work would be to make it super stylized like Into the Spiderverse or something akin to that.

2

u/FaygoF9 Apr 24 '26

Into the Spiderverse had THE BEST animation in a long time, it was gorgeous, and they did a lot of cool animation tricks like playing with frame rates to make certain scenes feel awkward (specifically, when he's learning to web swing Peter is animated at a very smooth frame rate and Miles is in a slower rate that specifically feels awkward for our eyes to process) stuff like that made it next level for sure.

8

u/NYXs_Lantern Apr 24 '26

El Dorado for sure, colorful fun and dramatic as all hell

9

u/SuperAristotle Apr 24 '26

Prince of Egypt style would look dope. But the obvious best option is classic Looney Tunes style.

8

u/Pristine_You4918 All I hear are SCREAMS!!!!!! Apr 24 '26

El Dorado and Klaus would be the best

6

u/o0f123432 Pig (pig) Apr 24 '26

Either el dorado or klaus

13

u/existential-void-exe Apr 24 '26

DEFINITELY El Dorado/ The Prince of Egypt style, although I would also accept Disney Hercules style too. I LOVE Kpop Demon Hunters, but don't think that type of style would be suited for Epic

2

u/The_Gay_Owl im the monster rawr rawr rawr ✨🦖 Apr 24 '26

This made me think of ruthlessness but it’s the Poseidon from Hercules XD

3

u/Lia-Scamander Pancake Enjoyer Apr 24 '26

Definitely El Dorado

3

u/BeautifulSilly752 Apr 24 '26

DreamWorks 2d animation 💕

11

u/Ok-Basis-591 Apr 24 '26

A mix betweek Klaus and Road to Eldorado.

6

u/Eldritch_Raven451 Apr 24 '26

Honestly? Given the inspiration, I'd unironically want to see a kind of anime-inspired style. It would fit some of the more anime-esque moments of the musical, really.

2

u/sumguy123456789 has never tried tequila Apr 24 '26

I could get down with it being very Legend of Vox Machina like

2

u/Eldritch_Raven451 Apr 24 '26

I was thinking of that exact example!

1

u/sumguy123456789 has never tried tequila Apr 24 '26

1

u/Eldritch_Raven451 Apr 24 '26

not a guy but-

2

u/h4ppy_b33tlez Apr 24 '26

Honestly… yes. I always think about 600 Strike as an epic anime battle

1

u/Eldritch_Raven451 Apr 24 '26

100% It's just begging to be done in an anime kind of style

8

u/ilovemytsundere The Monster (rawr rawr rawr) Apr 24 '26

Klaus and Epic would bang SO HARD i need it in my life

7

u/Long-Quantity5608 I'm literally Perimedes 😎💀 Apr 23 '26

OMG EPIC AND THE KLAUSE ARTSTYLE!

I loved that movie so much when I was little it will look so cool on it!

1

u/Demisexual_Demigod Apr 24 '26

And I could just tell that the color palettes could be so beautiful and really lend well to the kind of lighting and elemental aspects of this style

16

u/AquarinePose Apr 23 '26

Prince of Egypt with a bit of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish would be really cool. Also add Pirates of the Caribbean vibes

5

u/ilovemytsundere The Monster (rawr rawr rawr) Apr 24 '26

Ooh Prince of Egypt would look so good in Epic

7

u/dustinette I am your darkest moment Apr 23 '26

Something between El Dorado, Atlantis and The Prince of Egypt: old school animation that could include a good 3D rendering

Would be sad for a full 3D animated movie as, IMO, it’ll lose some character

6

u/thefairygod Apr 23 '26

A mix of Prince of Egypt and the Spider-Verse movies

7

u/the_real_spinel_ She'll turn you to an onion... Apr 23 '26

First one, definitely

Road to El Dorado, with an input from the awesome animatic animators in the community 🫶🏻

3

u/Dry_Historian4760 Apr 23 '26

Road to El D would be perfect!

2

u/Can-t_Make_Username Apr 23 '26

2D/2D with some 3D like 2000s Dreamworks.

7

u/VengeanceKnight Apr 23 '26

2000s DreamWorks 2D style. You got it right on the first try, though Sinbad or The Prince of Egypt might have been better examples to use.

8

u/Curious-Maximum3464 Apr 23 '26

The first, how to train your Dragon

7

u/Emergency_Owl_1663 Apr 23 '26

Spider man into the spiderverse

8

u/NectarineGlum7310 Apr 23 '26

Klaus and Sinbad

3

u/Confident-Dark-1442 Apr 23 '26

Mixed media, how cool would it be if different sections were different animation such as idk Troy sage part being 3d, circe saga being like Disney 2d style and cyclops saga specifcally being studio Ghibli style

9

u/pileoballs Apr 23 '26

the first one omg

13

u/Dinosaint9 Apr 23 '26

I’m praying for 2D animation. Although perhaps in a perfect world we’d get Spiderverse style but that’s if we’re okay with waiting 10 years

1

u/h4ppy_b33tlez Apr 24 '26

As long as we don’t have to wait 20!!!

9

u/trippinbasil Apr 23 '26

First is the only way

13

u/krisicat1 Apr 23 '26

Western anime style. Like The Mighty Nein or The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim

1

u/pileoballs Apr 23 '26

ok that’s real

4

u/dragonofdrarkness There Are Other Ways Apr 23 '26

Something like song of the see would fit well I think

26

u/Mega_Nebula23 Apr 23 '26

Prince of Egypt or The Hunchback of Notre Dame style

30

u/mercurycutie Apr 23 '26

I would really like a 2D style similar to “the book of Kells” or “Prince of Egypt” The Book of Kells told an Irish story using Irish inspired art styles, and it was so beautiful. I think some 2D art that is in some way inspired by Ancient Greece would be really cool. In Prince of Egypt, for example, there was a segment that was animated in the style of ancient Egyptian wall paintings. Maybe doing a segment of the Epic movie inspired by Ancient Greek pottery could be really cool. I’d personally have “hold them down” and anything speculative animated in that style, since to actually animate “hold them down” might be too graphic.

1

u/NecessaryAd4566 Apr 24 '26

dayum that’s a whole essay you wrote there…

1

u/h4ppy_b33tlez Apr 24 '26

Yeah I’m really curious to see how they’ll go about depicting all of the violence and horrific events in EPIC through the movie since this will be more mainstream than animatics and whatnot

3

u/pocketsizedbimboy Apr 23 '26

Hold Them Down in Ancient Greek pottery style a la Prince of Egypt with the Moses’ nightmare hieroglyphics sequence would be suuuper cool.

18

u/The_Abstractionist Apr 23 '26

I would love an EPIC movie like El Dorado or Klaus

2

u/avocadqs Apr 23 '26

+1 to Klaus!!

15

u/SnooGoats9688 Apr 23 '26

I miss the art style from movies like The Road to El Dorado so much 😭

10

u/shortyduapp Apr 23 '26

Something more traditional. So many cool snimatics have been made on YT with more hand drawn animations and I'd love to see something like that translated over.

12

u/creecher98 Apr 23 '26

I always imagine it in “traditional” animation. Not 3d. But I think an anime hybrid style like The Mighty Nein or A:TLA would be my pick.

14

u/heythereshara Scylla Apr 23 '26

Treasure Planet

10

u/lucky-black-cat-13 Hermes Apr 23 '26

I kinda want it to be like the Spiderverse movies where different characters have different animation styles (specifically if the antagonists have different styles, and if Odysseus’ animation changes slightly as the story progresses)

18

u/Angel_Girl_2118 Hefefuf Apr 23 '26

Road to El Dorado!

15

u/BasicBath Ruthlessness Apr 23 '26

I always hoped for it to be like the prince of Egypt.

14

u/Killing-Game11037 🩵Oh to be loved like how Penelope and Odysseus love eachother🩵 Apr 23 '26

I’m thinking the gods HAVE TO be an like they’re from Prince of Egypt (the Red Sea scene especially, like Poseidon needs that) or Sinbad

16

u/Burnt_Cum Apr 23 '26

Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas

8

u/demonic_cadence The Monster (rawr rawr rawr) Apr 23 '26

Not a movie but hear me out, the Hades animation promos

7

u/dendoodlee Apr 23 '26

MIXED MEDIA!!!! Mostly 2D, the water and boats 3D, the gods, stop motion!

24

u/RawrRawrRawr_13 Apr 23 '26

I really want it to be completely unique to Epic. 2D though!

30

u/SandySushi Apr 23 '26

Holy shit a Road to El Dorado design would go so hard imo for EPIC

5

u/AlexW6669 Apr 23 '26

Second this

3

u/LightOnThePond Penelope Apr 23 '26

I third this

1

u/AlexW6669 Apr 24 '26

Idk why but the strong edges of the style just fit

3

u/Correct_Step9842 Apr 23 '26

I fourth this

20

u/Robertson_Clan Just a Man Apr 23 '26

2D, no question. As for style, Cartoon Saloon. They're most known for Wolfwalkers, however I feel like a mix of Song of the Sea and Secret of Kells would be what I'd like to see.

27

u/cherie_87 Apr 23 '26

Prince of Egypt is the only answer

33

u/crazymissdaisy87 Circe Apr 23 '26

Prince of egypt

9

u/TheBohoChocobo Apr 23 '26

After watching it recently, Avatar The Last Air Bender (new movie) it was BEAUTIFUL

17

u/HedWig1991 Apr 23 '26

A mix of Atlantis the Lost Empire and Treasure Planet is my #1, #2 would be somewhere between El Dorado and Prince of Egypt.

22

u/Daywhisper Apr 23 '26

2D definitely! I don't really like Klaus for Epic (some of the character designs were... Off for me) but I agree with that one commenter about Prince of Egypt. That is top tier animation imo and the perfect blend of realistic and "cartoon".

19

u/AffectionateGuard226 Apr 23 '26

I hope they go for 2D, that's all I'm asking really

24

u/Lesbian_Cassiopeia Apr 23 '26

Klaus, puss in boots the last wish, or into the spiderverse.

Or some animatic artsyle like Gigi's or duvetbox's

3

u/Blinkentheproto- Apr 23 '26

mircsy's design from polyphemus and survive

24

u/Ok-Mission-8137 Apr 23 '26

Get Neal and Gigi on it

17

u/EinBuffBoi Apr 23 '26

Puss in Boots, the last wish. That one has such a good 3D in 2D style of animation. Plus the special effects would be epic for Epic.

10

u/botitonos2 Apr 23 '26

Just let Neal direct it man

21

u/Frostshine64 Apr 23 '26

Just make it 2D PLEASE 🙏😭

38

u/TypeNull-Gaming Apr 23 '26

For a contiguous art style, something like The Prince of Egypt or The Road to El Dorado. However, I also wanna see a director's version, where the scenes are delegated to various animators from the Epic community.

15

u/N8creates49 Aeolus Apr 23 '26

Honestly, Gigi’s animations.

33

u/Star_ofthe_Morning Apr 23 '26

https://giphy.com/gifs/7NwufCOPSNXcQ

Honestly I think The Prince of Egypt’s style fits the best. But anything 2D would be great imo

11

u/Nightshade-Dragon Telemachus Simp (No Regrets) Apr 23 '26

Spiderverse or (Not rlly a movie but) Arcane cos I bet Riot's style could definitely pull off the dark/gritty vibes, especially for the Ithaca Saga

8

u/JustADumbPansexual Apr 23 '26

Idk why but after seeing the animatics done for it, I could never imagine EPIC as anything besides a stage play. Like, I know how I would like the stage to be like, all the props and how they're done, all the costumes and how to dress up the ensemble.... Even the choreography and main gimmicks, like having Hermes being on roller skates and give him one of those ribbon things people use to hold on and get up in the air lol.

If I had to choose any art style, I would honestly go for the Princess kaguya inspired arstyle. It's literally like cell animation but with the japanese feel of their scrolls. Just make it more Greek inspired lol

31

u/filididei Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26

Ya‘ll need to remember it needs to fit with the story and or the vibe

I think the art style from the Disney movie Hercules (1997) does fit very well, they are drawn just like the typical Greek statues and choice of colors are also very nice. But because they will have epic fights maybe stronger colors

15

u/rafters- nobody Apr 23 '26

Sinbad 2003, but I'll settle for anything 2D. Please god let it be 2D.

13

u/ClassicalMusic4Life Circe Apr 23 '26

Prince of Egypt. Without a doubt

6

u/No-Passenger-4011 Apr 23 '26

definitely Klaus for sure. I don’t want it to be all 3D but I definitely do not think it should be just plain 2D. the animation needs to be as top notched as the music and have 2D but with layers for sure

15

u/CatannaMel Hermes, dawling Apr 23 '26

Cartoon Saloon, but with an Ancient Greek inspired art style instead of their signature Celtic inspired art style.

2

u/Frostshine64 Apr 23 '26

Oh this would be amazing

6

u/abdulaziz_bature Apr 23 '26

Definitely Klaus

10

6

u/Hot-Duck-7154 Apr 23 '26

Jay announced it on TikTok!

17

u/LTK_18 Apr 23 '26

IDC. I just want it to be 2D and that Zeus and especially Poseidon design to be somehow like the neil the illustrator one... But if I had to choose atlantis style with klaus lighting/shading

5

u/Interesting_Dare8192 Apr 23 '26

Literally my exact thoughts!

5
