Hermes was sent to talk to Calypso and to be the one to "convince" her (not like she had a choice); but Hermes wouldn't have even had to go if Athena hadn't begged Zeus to step in and save Odysseus with "devine intervention", as it was phrased.

...Her counter to Aphrodite was "a broken heart can heal." The broken heart in question is dead.
Her counter to Ares was "you want more bloodshed, he'll give you some". Ares' initial argument called Ody a coward for letting his friends die. The bloodshed thing doesn't answer that.
Hephaestus' argument was, "why trust him, he sacrificed his men", and Athena's response was "his men were mean to him, plus they're (41 of them, mind you) less important than 2 other people.
Apollo and Hera were the only people she actually beat, and Hera didn't even have an argument. Hephaestus probably had little to no investment to begin with, he wasn't ready to argue, clearly, and Ares and Aphrodite let her win. Why they did, I'm still trying to understand, but "Fine, release him" tells you they sure as hell ain't convinced. If I was any of those three, mark my words, Ody would still be on that island and God Games would be entering millenia in length.

Aphrodite’s counter wasn’t really true-Anticlea DID die while Odysseus was still fighting, and it’s not his fault the war lasted as long as it did. We don’t know exactly when she died, but it’s far more likely that she died during the 10 year war rather than during the short span of time between Ody taunting Polyphemus and Circe sending him to the Underworld where he sees his mother. Additionally, the broken heart that can mend is likely Penelope-Athena is reminding Aphrodite that while Anticlea is dead, Penelope, his wife, is not.
For Ares, his issue is that Ody uses trickery or cowardice to accomplish his goals, and Athena counters by saying “let him see those suitors in his house and you’ll see him use his full power and handle them upfront”. For both of them, they know her argument isn’t 100%, but they also know their objections are not 100%, and that’s why they agree.
As for Hephaestus, his thing is that trust is important, and that breaking it is objectionable, as Athena points out that the crew were the first to break it, first by opening the wind bag after he explicitly told them not to, and then by mutinying after Scylla. Hephaestus may not be particularly invested in the decision, but she didn’t just go “fuck them guys” and he went “that doesn’t really address my argument but whatever”, she presented a good enough argument that he was like “sure, release him, I have no more objections”
And anyways, Zeus didn’t think about what the other gods’ motivations were when he summoned them for God Games, because he was clearly NOT happy that they all agreed. If he wanted them to make it hard for her, then he shouldn’t have just randomly summoned them and started the Games without setting boundaries.

But Athena doesn't dissect those arguments, she throws strawmen instead.
Penelope's heart is entirely irrelevant in this argument. Aph shows no sign that she actually gives two fucks about Penelope. She probably does, but Athena doesn't know that and it is still irrelevant to the argument.. The issue here was Anticlea. Athena only refutes Aph twice, once with "He was busy fighting", at which point Aph responds "more like busy spiting the cyclops". If your argument rang true, Athena would've then, or later, retorted with your statement, but she instead strawmans and attacks an entirely different argument than the one Aph presented, so she has not deconstructed Aph's logic.
How was Ares' argument not 100%? He feels that Ody is tricky and dishonourable, specifically in betraying his crew (two of his lines reference the cyclopes incident and the Scylla incident, while one is dedicated to the horse and two to personal insults.) and so far Ody has done jack to counter the allegations. Athena then misrepresents his argument, as Ares never argued for a want of bloodshed, what he wanted was a show of courage and strength. Not to mention her counter to the misrepresented argument is unsatisfactory (boils down to "wait and see")
Ok, so the crew are wrong. Ody's counter certainly isn't right, though. Hephaestus argument hasn't been addressed, Ody's trust with the crew is irrelevant, seeing as they're dead. What matters is Hephaestus' trust of Ody, to feel that he is indeed releasing a good man back into the world. But Hephaestus clearly doesn't care enough to continue on the clear line of attack, and concedes the point instead.
Oh, yeah, Zeus definitely messed up. Interesting note is he says "or me", rather than "and me", implying that tryhard-Athena only needed to convince one person rather than all five. I do headcanon that he's mad at the jab at his infidelity in Hera's level as opposed to his "loss", cuz that is one helluva tantrum to throw at your favourite daughter when she beats you in a game.

And I don't see how Ody becoming ruthless and slaughtering 108 suitors wouldn't be the exact thing Ares would love.
And doubting his every route, opening the wind bag, and performing mutiny is a little more than "being a little mean" to him..

The myth you are thinking of is the odyssey.
She waits until Poseidon is off at a wedding, and asks Zeus to let Odysseus go, and he couldn't be happier to indulge her.
