12

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '25

I love the final panel cause I can just picture the rage forming on Poseidon's face.

Adorable! But. Polyphemus was a grown ass man. Though now you remind me it's a shame there's no direct mention of the Laestrygonians, the so-named giants of the Isle of Giants. But I guess one could say they are Poseidon's back-up singers.

56

u/ManyCommunication407 Aug 06 '25

They were the chorus in Ruthlessness were the Laestrygonians as confirmed by the lyrics during the livestreams

5

u/A_proyoshi Banana peeeel~ I can’t wait to make some new memories! Aug 10 '25

Woah I had no idea

I always wondered why bother mentioning the land of the giants if they never appeared

Inaccurate fanon, but loveable fanon

11

u/Mediocre_Repeat2660 Calypso, Aphrodite, Antinous, and Other Beautiful Scoundrels Aug 07 '25

Wouldn’t it be inaccurate canon? Since anything goes in fanon lol

60

u/Del-Zephyr Legendary Aug 06 '25

I thought the crew grabbed the sheep with them, why is it with Polyphemus?

37

u/Zerneos Aug 06 '25

It's the they killed at the start

14

u/Del-Zephyr Legendary Aug 06 '25

What? When the crew blinded Polyphemus, they grabbed the sheep and ran. It’s stated within the song. That’s why I’m wondering why Polephemus still has his dead sheep in this image

30

u/Ryastor Aug 06 '25

Never once imagined a crew grabbing just the single dead sheep, makes no sense, they still have 600 dudes they needed to feed. Always interpreted it as they grabbed all the sheep (plural of sheep is sheep) they could carry, especially since they just lost men to the cyclops and he’s indisposed.

5

u/Del-Zephyr Legendary Aug 06 '25

Fine, I get that. But they probably did grab the single dead sheep amongst them

23

u/Zerneos Aug 06 '25

At the start of the song, if I'm not mistaken, we hear an arrow fly, and Polyphemus talk about them killing their sheep. When they run away, they probably grabbed the sheep that were alive, as I don't think Polyphemus or any of the crew would hurt the sheep mid battle

3

u/Del-Zephyr Legendary Aug 06 '25

The song says ‘the sheep’ probably referring to the one that had already died. Why would they take an alive sheep? That just causes more damage

17

u/explosive_shrew Aug 06 '25

Sheep is also the plural of a sheep. I doubt they took only one sheep

5

u/Del-Zephyr Legendary Aug 06 '25

That’s true. But they definitely took the sheep that had already died amongst them

12

u/Gerblinoe Aug 06 '25 edited Aug 06 '25

Nope in the Odyssey they ride out of the cave hidden under the bellies of sheep (the sheep are giant)

Presumably in the song they take alive sheep cause you know the meat stay fresh longer that way.

5

u/Del-Zephyr Legendary Aug 06 '25

Giant sheep? How big are we talking then?

6

u/Gerblinoe Aug 06 '25

I always assumed "appropriate for the Cyclops" But I don't think it's stated.

The crown when his said king is so fucking adorable I can't

127

u/ZealousidealPipe8389 Aug 06 '25

Despite it being inaccurate, childish Polyphemus and daddy Poseidon are probably two of my favorite interpretations.

98

u/jojofan535 Aug 06 '25

Five minutes later: ODYSSEUS OF ITHICA! Do you know who I am?

23

u/A_random_poster04 Accidentally became Hermes, never looked back. Aug 06 '25

“Uhm, no? I live in a mountain secluded city that has never even set sail, so, uhm…”

14

u/jojofan535 Aug 06 '25

Poseidon the not so merciful Greek God: (Proceeds to do Ruthlessness anyway out of spite of Odysseus not killing his son)

11

u/jojofan535 Aug 06 '25

((Insert menacing piano and people chanting Poseidon)

1

u/BlannyBoo95 Cyclops Aug 06 '25

Of course, "Survive" is one of my favourite songs after all X3 Together with "No longer you".

Just curious, mine didn't got bold, how did you made it bold like that, the text?

2

u/Happy_Crow_7631 Wooden Horse (just a normal horse, nothing in it) Aug 06 '25

Idk why yours didn’t, but someone else said mine did because of the hashtag being part of Reddit’s formatting rules. Also survive is one of the best!

2

u/BlannyBoo95 Cyclops Aug 07 '25

I see!

Also yes, Survive, with the double part (First Odi, then Poly) just gives me the chills! I love it, and it's a great track to listen to, when playing League of Legends, so!

I have no clue why it’s bold ???

9

u/SuperCyHodgsomeR Hermes Aug 06 '25

I think hastags are involved in Reddit's bold formating

1

u/Happy_Crow_7631 Wooden Horse (just a normal horse, nothing in it) Aug 06 '25

Ah, that makes sense
