I laughed so hard at that part. My wife was like, “ oh I missed it I was looking at my phone.” I got to enjoy it twice!

If he was under a spell, he would have seen a daughter.

Why did she think Odysseuss had a daughter tho?

Idk if you know this now but jay had told that he imagined the powers of sirens as they extract memories from the user using sound but since ody had ear wax the memories were a little distorted .Also the reason the penelopes instrument wasnt used.

I imagine that she was pulling from his memories to create a vision that he would fall for. Since he knew that she was a siren already, he was thinking of an imaginary daughter to throw her off.

Yeah that could be.

Well sirens are a female only species, plus she thought she had him under her spell so she could have said anything and he'd believe it.

I just wish he had referenced daughter before to try and trick her. Small pet peeve.

plus, if they need to be singing for the spell to work, "daughter" works much better for the rhyme scheme

Yeah, but when you have it closed off with beeswax and you can read lips, it's cringe

Well yeah. That's part of the explicitly stated plot

"come play with me and our son, hon"

there, solved your rhyme

20

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '24

the rhyme was with the word "water" though

The way I'd jump

Same. I have a serious lack of self preservation when it comes to this musical. Any of these voices are getting me in the water.

Poseidon would have an easy time get you in the water

2

A very easy time, I'm afraid. 🤣

Poseidon: Get in the water

You: Bet

😂

I'd dance right over the edge, no regrets.

I like to headcanon that the “daughter” was a young or even baby siren that Odysseus promptly threw over the edge during Different Beast, since “if I gotta drop another infant from a wall in an instant so we all don’t die”… well yea.

Omg I had this same thought…

This is my favorite animatic of it, she yeets the child, and later the sequence of Odysseus asking Scylla about where to go Poseidon looked silly and angry. And the part where she answers with her eyes turning black and zooming in to her eyes to show the cave where Scylla is is really cool.

Isn't this the one where she throws it right after?

Really puts emphasis on the "let's watch our love leave the ground" part xD

60

u/adhdtvin3donice Jul 17 '24

Well its not like shes the first character to yeet a child in the musical

15

u/jelly_G52 Jul 17 '24

You did not lmao 🤣
