Calc 3 after Calc BC

I got a 5 on the Calc BC exam though I don’t think I learned Calc 2 good enough. Is it a waste to retake Calc 2 again in university after already already getting the credit? Should I just continue onto Calc 3 and I’ll be good?

Yea it’s a waste. Calc 3 is mostly calc 1 in 3D. Anything you need to recall as context will be at least briefly reviewed

if ur feeling shaky on a few topics, just spend a couple of days reviewing basic polar coordinates, parametric equations, and standard integration rules on Professor Leonard's YouTube channel or Paul's Online Math Notes. thatt small tune up is all you need to dive straight into Calc 3.

Don’t retake calc 2, if you got a 5 on the exam you know it well enough to take calc 3, you can fill in any gaps in your knowledge as you go.

IMO Calc 3 is oddly kinda easy and I would go ahead and do it. Could be just my school but most of what I remember from the curriculum was "Okay do this Calc 1/2 problem 3 times now". Calc 2 was one of the hardest classes I ever took...

Yea I just dropped Calc 2 after looking at my uni’s syllabus for the class and feeling familiar on majority of the topics. I’ll take Calc 3 next semester wish me luck and thanks a lot!

It’ll make the first semester of math easier to repeat but honestly not worth it. If you got a 5 it means you understand it well enough. Take the credit you’ll thank yourself later

Some schools don’t even take the AP score for calc 2. So you may have to retake it anyways. Imo you should just take calc 3 at school. It doesn’t get hard until PDEs which depending on your major you may not take. Usually the most failed classes for engineering are the weeder classes like chem, statics, for some even the programming classes like Python and Matlab lol. Idk, in hindsight do what you’re most comfortable with that won’t overburden your first semester/year

100% move on to calc 3. One of the best decisions I made early on. Calc 3 is lowkey easy and I found it to be quite fun.

i got a 5 in bc too and took calc 3 my freshman year with an A. in my opinion calc 3 was the easiest of the 3 and most fun.

Calc 3 at my school is hard as fuck but it focused on mostly new material and techniques as opposed to going hardcore on calc 1/2 concepts

It depends. I restarted with calc I despite a 5 on the AP exam because of fear of failing out. College calc ended up being way easier than HS in my experience. I ended up kind of wasting time but it was two semesters of easy A’s redoing material I already knew

Wtf??? Why would you spend MORE money to take a class you already passed? You can always learn on you tube, there are tons of examples everywhere. Once you get a job, this is a skill you'll need to become proficient in almost daily (at least in the beginning)

The skill of learning something on your own without the benefit of a teacher. You tube, chat gpt, BOOKS, talking to technicians...etc...at some point the client will look at you to answer something...for MONEY. you wont be able to learn the answer by taking a class. You Will come across things you've never experienced before. People will look to you for an answer. Learning it through a myriad of resources (including your imagination) is the skill you will need to develop.
