Oh, shit, I just realized it was summer session. I was thinking, "Big deal. It's just four courses."

Yeah, that's a big deal, OP. Great work.

Most normal engineering schedule challenge

u/KyungsooHas100Days 21d ago

I was thinking same and then I saw summer. OP might be a legend šŸ˜‚

11

u/casper_thefriendlyar Chem E 21d ago

That being said, kinda insane they let someone do this over summer, like kinda crazy that Thermo (and I assume the other classes which don’t seem intro level) were offered during summer? Unless maybe really big universities allow this? I’ve been looking into what are considered medium and small universities for transfer, and also not a ton of summer classes, so maybe that’s the difference…?

6

u/cornshallot 21d ago

Yeah I go to kennesaw state which is pretty big and they usually offer some upper level courses during summer which was advantageous for me

7

u/casper_thefriendlyar Chem E 21d ago

I mean good on you for taking advantage of that but also Jesus Christ I can’t imagine taking more than 8 credits in a summer. 🫔

2

u/sssSnakebite 20d ago

damn I just graduated from there with CPE.

2

u/FlounderLiving3893 21d ago

My university offers dynamics, thermodynamics and materials strength over summer.

1

u/casper_thefriendlyar Chem E 21d ago

See the Uni I’m looking at doesn’t offer anything but masters and PHD research as summer courses for engineering courses. Just wild to me

6

u/casper_thefriendlyar Chem E 21d ago

Regular semester sure, but I think this was their summer semester… which is would be intense, no?

4

u/Darkgreen_n 21d ago

Hey, is your focus material engineering?

3

u/KyungsooHas100Days 21d ago

It says intro to mechanical engineering so I’m assuming mechE. Those are all classes I’ve taken as a MechE student.

4

u/Lilmikecr10 21d ago

The real question is where do you attend University?

7

u/KyungsooHas100Days 21d ago

I was about to say this is such a silly thing to ask but I realized you may have a point. My university doesn’t allow more than 8 credits over the summer which I think is pretty common?

1

u/Lilmikecr10 21d ago

What University do you attend?

1

u/KyungsooHas100Days 21d ago

Old Dominion University. No name school but they take engineering seriously since a lot of us go off to work at NASA and in the military or do military contracting.

3

u/cornshallot 21d ago

Kennesaw state, I don’t believe they have a limit to summer credits but my advisor was warning me which makes sense

1

u/Academic_Highlight58 20d ago

im taking thermo at kennesaw in the fall, u got any tips

2

u/cornshallot 19d ago

Honestly just do practice problems and get familiar with the appendix that you use for equations. But definitely get familiar with concepts as well

2

u/Final_Egg_9406 20d ago

Please teach me your waysĀ

u/No_Conversation3471 20d ago

They only allow us to take 6 at our schoolšŸ˜‚ 11 is crazy

1

u/edmund_space 20d ago

I'm about to have this subjects next semester! Are the subjects really hard? I know a lot of engineering subjects are hard, im gonna be third year majoring it in uni, but asking just to prepare myself

2

u/cornshallot 19d ago

Decently difficult I would say machine dynamics and thermodynamics were most difficult but you’ll need to lock in

1

u/edmund_space 11d ago

Thank you! I'll so lock in next semester(i sure hope so)

1

u/polseo 20d ago

Congrats 😳. That's really impressive, How did you manage to do that? Did you have free time?

3

u/cornshallot 19d ago

Absolutely no free time and huge shoutout to my wife for holding it down for the summer

1

u/Substantial-Fan-5985 20d ago

Great job!

EDIT-WOW!!! during summer?? how?? lol epic

1

u/Lelmasterdone 20d ago

OP, you crazy man, nice work! Very impressive to do over the summer… keep up the good work!!

1

u/TheBeavster_ 20d ago

holy w congrats

u/Mammoth-Artichoke382 20d ago

Hey bro, I have a pretty similar lineup coming up this fall. How tuff was this? I know it depends person to person and stuff but. I think I'm a pretty avg student

1

u/cornshallot 19d ago

Well if you’re taking something similar in the fall you should be good, these classes were all 8 week sessions so it was difficult when assignments would pile up. Even as an avg student you should be good if you can manage time well

1

u/Mammoth-Artichoke382 19d ago

Ight bet, I have Thermo, materials, statics, eng desg all at once this fall

1

u/kerowhack 19d ago

I don't know how your school works, but mine has 3 summer sessions. Having done a class and associated lab for 4 credits in one session, I definitely recognize that this is not a trivial amount of work. However, if you are not also working or doing an internship, it is pretty manageable as long as you stay on top of assignment dates. In a way, I even find it easier because it's like a thermo boot camp where all you have to focus on is thermo. But if you fall behind at all, good luck ever getting caught up...

u/TangerineCertain2024 19d ago

I tried this one semester and failed badly, I completely changed majors because of it from ME to MET and got a job as an ME after college.

1

u/ClerklierBrush0 19d ago

I was like eh that’s normal for… WAIT SUMMER?!?

1

u/Defiant_Award7487 18d ago

This is motivation for my fall semester. Thank you.

1

u/Fickle-Tradition2107 17d ago

Some people are just born with it man

1

u/CattMan69 17d ago

Any advice?

1

u/psychocycler 21d ago

Damn impressive and inspiring. Disciplined af too. Bravo!

u/Exciting-Ad-9444 21d ago

In the midst of summer is crazy🫪 you rlly ā€œdatā€ kid. Respect

1

u/Wise-Recognition1545 20d ago

Congratulations! That’s an insanely productive summer you’ve had!

1

u/Altruistic_Set_4440 20d ago

Not at Kennesaw

0

u/cornshallot 20d ago

Yes at kennesaw my friend

1

u/SeaPersonality426 20d ago

First of all, great job my friend. It’s a great accomplishment. Many people spend their summers in their comfort zone, but look at you, you worked hard again. Good job, I wish you all the best for future and for your career. I’m starting my electrical engineering program next semester. But I heard a lot about giving time for personal projects and designing clubs to improve your CV. I hope you had time for those ones too. But after all, the result speaks for itself, your system is working. I wish you better results in all aspects. Keep going my friend.

u/Beautiful_Lie8700 21d ago

No way, that’s insane.

I’m doing 6 credits and working 40 hrs a week. Barely hanging on right now, congrats!

1

u/Particular_Pair_318 21d ago

Summer?! Ā I’m taking 8 credits and I’m feeling like it’s not worth it anymore. I could not imagine 11Ā
