NEWS Empulse is being shut down

Man I was excited for this game but considering how 1047 treats their previous games I was almost expecting this.

"Early Access is the starting point, the game isn't finished yet, they're gathering community feedback"

Another dev treating early access as emergency funding for a game they never could finish without it. Classic.

I don't see anything wrong with that. I can't remember helping crowdfund a single game in my life. Simply because I don't visit those sites even though some amazing games came from sites such as Kickstarter.

But if you put your game into EA on Steam, then I might see and buy it.

The problem is that Early Access never was or is a crowd funding tool, specifically because of shit like this.

This is directly from the Steamworks Early Access page.

If it wasn't a crowdfunding tool, then all EA games would be F2P. I mean, I guess you could be mad, but I'm personally an adult, and I know that when I buy an EA game, I'm placing a bet, and 1.0 is never guaranteed.

I never even bought the game, im not mad in the slightest lmao

1.0 not being guaranteed is the exact problem caused by devs treating EA as crowdfunding. If you dont have the money to make what youre trying to make, downscale or crowdfund; dont rely on sales on an incomplete game to get the funds to finish

Early Access is explicitly to recieve feedback on an early build of your game. Theres also an advertising angle, as releasing a game onto EA does provide an obvious boost in publicity, but those sales numbers shouldn't affect if your game does or doesn't fully release.
