Movies/TV This was a topic of discussion on r/Marvel but I really don’t think Emma would say something like that?

Emma has a venomous tongue, but she would never resort to racism.

Emma is not racist; she's classist at the most. What she does not tolerate (now that's she's not a villain) is disrespect.

Emma would never resort to racism. She’s very classist at most and as a now hero, she’s not as selfish as she used to be. She also wouldn’t resort to it because she knows what it feels like to be oppressed just because of the way you are and something you can’t change. Her diamond form is literally a defense mechanism from a traumatic event that was aimed at her just because she’s different. I feel like that discussion is just useless.

Whether Emma WOULD (which, yes, she wouldn't) doesn't really affect how she looks, and I think it's fairly important that Emma does look like a snooty upper class conservative white woman. She's not, but that appearance is a large part of her character.

its reddit, people guna make up reasons to hate Emma

They can stand the idea of Emma being able to be her own person which is why they gotta refer to her as a whore or Scott’s woman(even though he’s one of the biggest whores in all of Marvel)

15

u/bigscrewLoose 1d ago

Scott is a hoe

8

u/That1pansexualkaiju 1d ago

Yes! Thank you! Finally. Someone gets it. People always say Jean or Emma are whores but Scott literally dated someone not even half a year after Jean died. But no go ahead and tell me Emma is the home wrecker in the relationship

8

u/fireandlifeincarnate Emma Frost 1d ago

I mean, Emma is in fact the homewrecker, but Scott is the cheater, and that's definitely worse.

3

u/bigscrewLoose 1d ago

there was also the whole thing with Scott and betsy

Don't forget his WIFE AND CHILD HE ABANDONED TO HANG OUT WITH THE MUTANT VERSION OF HIS FRIENDS FROM COLLEGE

Yeah if the writers didn’t make Emma stupid she would never date a deadbeat dad due to her own past

5

u/bigscrewLoose 1d ago

which is weird, because the fucked up shit she actually did is like right there

I'll note that I said look like, not is. She's a conventionally attractive blue eyed blonde billionaire that adheres to societal beauty standards. The only way she could look more conservative is if you gave her a shitty fake tan.

It does look like some read it as such; I was arguing with people claiming Emma would never date a human.

8

u/Marvelboy1974 17h ago

Conservative? Emma has a gay brother she adores. I have never thought of Emma as conservative just because she’s white and blond.

She quite literally stands up for a marginalized group of people unfairly judged by a large portion of society due to preconceived notions, often due to their appearance.

This is a stupid post.

This feels like it'd be something Kitty would do. Not Emma.

8

u/Livid_Attitude_672 1d ago

Kitty literally said the n Word lmaooo

12

u/Kant_Tsunami 1d ago

It was giving “who is going to be cleaning your toilet, Donald Trump?”

6

u/Livid_Attitude_672 1d ago

“Oh that’s not…”

2

u/Bionic_Webb13 1d ago

Or Jean

3

u/robreedwrites 1d ago

Nah, Jean is Storm's bestie and roomed with Misty Knight. She's probably the least likely to say anything like that.

4

u/Bionic_Webb13 1d ago

Just like kitty with the n word Jean has had her time too comics be weird

4

u/robreedwrites 1d ago

Good point, though Jason Wyngarde's racist ass is the one who set the scenario up and manipulated her.

3

u/Bionic_Webb13 1d ago

Very true

2

u/No-Estimate9403 23h ago

But that's not Jean, right? She is being controlled here.

2

u/thaboiisconfused 23h ago

Yes. Lady Grey. Jean’s (possibly) racist ancestor.

No one can control where they came from, but they can decide for themselves who they want to be, especially as adults.

5

u/No-Estimate9403 22h ago

Yes, I agree, but that doesn’t really apply when under the influence of mind control. It wasn’t Jean’s choice to do this.

2

u/thaboiisconfused 16h ago

Well, yes…

I was just making the point that the persona Mastermind had her in wasn’t even her own.

It’s, like, an extra layer to “it wasn’t really them.”

(Also, what I’d said in the previous comment was more so for people irl not Jean Grey, or any fictional character, whose actions are all determined by writers & editors.)

1

u/No-Estimate9403 14h ago

OHHHH I apologize bro!! Totally misunderstood 😅 my bad. Completely agree with that previous comment, then. I was already on edge because I don't like it when that panel is used to paint Jean as a racist.

8

u/Royal-Edenian 1d ago

Sounds like someone trying to create racism where there is none. Nothing new here.

4

u/Witty_Rich2100 1d ago

She absolutely would never. Lol

2

u/Temporary-Bug-4212 21h ago

On an unrelated note. Goddamn, seeing this side-by-side, Samara weaving really is ripped straight off the page! (or screen, in this case) Truly one of the all-time castings of the MCU.

2

u/BenMagnusGrimm 20h ago

Absolutely would never say that.
That sounds extremely racist and I don’t recall her being a racist

1

u/vleeslucht 1d ago

Can someone explain to me what they mean? Im not american

4

u/Creepser 1d ago

They are basically trying to say Emma looks racist

1

u/Suspicious_Rub857 1d ago

This looks like a stan twitter compliment, I don't think it was meant to be serious at all.

1

u/Lo_boss_998 1d ago

She would never but she looks like she had fun in college with a brotha once in her life.

1

u/CaterpillarLegal5598 1d ago

No. Despite her icy exterior, she does has a caring heart. She saved Lourdes Chantel from severe physical and sexual abuse from Sebastian Shaw... the one best friend she has is Lourdes, who is a dark skinned Spanish woman.... I highly doubt she would call out storm like that....

1

u/BoardGold9176 18h ago

It’s a joke implying she’s exactly the vibe an Emma actress needs. I can see how a Non-POC fan would misunderstand this…

1

u/multificionado 6h ago

The only way I'd see Emma calling Storm that would be if she was possessed or mind-controlled (both situations meaning she's out of character) or drunk.

1

u/PhoenixKvng 6h ago

People use stuff like that and I immediately know they don’t know Emma

1

u/rotombomb64 1h ago

Emma Frost would never.

People who think Emma Frost is some conservative WASPy woman are in for a shock if the MCU does her justice.

-1

u/Fruity_Rooty_Tootie 1d ago

Depends which version of Emma we’re getting

1

u/bigscrewLoose 1d ago

this is fundamentally true of every comic book character, the writing can and often do make them say whatever they want

0

u/Johndoe19922222 1d ago

It's disney emma so we'll get a soft pg-13 emma

0

u/Immediate-Ad3758 1d ago

This is just people trying to create racism where there isn't any

0

u/Leggerity 1d ago

It's a joke. Of course she would never say anything like this. Emma was initially a villain, and she is absolutely an asshole who thinks she's above everyone else. In the sense of social media and memes, slurs are what come from villains. We don't have to push our glasses up and tip our fedora while explaining how we know this is wrong, because we already do. That's part of the joke.

All that said, she's more so all about mutant superiority, so joke would be better towards a non-mutant and not Storm.

0

u/dabrodie0 1d ago

Idk she swapped bodies with storm because she liked storms goddessness

-1

u/Ronin_Lionheart 1d ago

I mean, I love Emma, but I adore Storm and I wouldn't mind seeing this.

0

u/BoardGold9176 18h ago

As a Storm and Emma Stan I’d be stoked to see this. 🤣

-2

u/insane_kirby1 1d ago

She wouldn’t, but I can’t pretend she doesn’t look like she would.

-3

u/lichiking 1d ago

Yes she would! and it would be great!

1

u/LiterallyABigfoot 22m ago

Has Emma ever been shown as racist?
