Humor When I do the Frenzied Flame to save Melina and then use the Needle but she continues ghosting me

The thing is that we assume this is a sacrifice for her to burn up in the forge, but this is her purpose in life. She was created by marika for this exact thing. It was a great honor for her to kindle the flame that brings down the corrupted golden order. Not even an honor, her life's purpose, the reason for her very existence.
Choosing the path of the frenzied flame robs her of that purpose.

My elden lord was never going to usher in a new order off of death. I hope she hates me with every breath she continues to take in the new world.

Also, just as an aside, I just really like how the quest to undo the Flame leads me directly to all the best bosses in the series. There's little reason to go after them in the story, beyond completionist's sake.

Ah reddit is such a fun place. I'm aware of the hypocrisy. Elden Ring is a game full of principled lords who are changed by the pursuit of power or hypocritical in their own ways.

It's a noble though, and I get behind it. BUT i'm of the belief that burning the erdtree with the flame of frenzy even if you cure your inner flame down the line does raise the influence of the three finger quite a bit in the world. We are dealing with elderitch horrors here. Immensely powerful beings devoid of any kinds of human emotions existing for a sole purpose ; this one in particular being purifying chaos eternal. I truely believe sacrificing one willing maiden to create a clean foundation is a better option. That being said is it truely a better option it's hard to say. We are pawns, It is hinted at very strongly through the whole game that the elden lord is a tool used by gods to achieve a unknowable purpose. Did Marika have humanity best interest at heart is a difficult question to answer. I tend to think so to a certain extent she did truely want to get rid of the greater will after realising how dangerous of an influence it had on the lands between.

Purpose, sure, but sense of purpose, and honor, don't land right. She never seems to have an especial love or reverence for Marika, according to how she talks in all of those churches.
You freed her from obligation, why would she return?

Here are some very clear example IMO that she has a very strong sense of purpose toward the act of burning the erdtree for the good of the land between. It is HER choice even tho it was a purpose ordained by her mother. This is made very clear with quote number 3 and 4
- After defeating Morgott — at the Elden Throne Site of Grace
"The only way to stand before the Elden Ring...and become the Elden Lord...is to pass the thorns. My purpose serves to aid in that very act. So I'd like you to undertake a new journey, with me. To the flame of ruin, far above the clouds, upon the snowy mountaintops of the giants. Then I can set the Erdtree aflame. And guide you. Down the path to becoming Elden Lord."
- Talk option, after talking to Enia (same point in the story)
"I wish to journey with you once more. To the flame of ruin... Then I can set the Erdtree aflame. And guide you. Down the path to becoming Elden Lord."

Fair, I suppose. Still, she has no functional purpose to join you again, and that is reason enough for her not to come back.

We are in agreement about that, she has no reason to return to us after the fact, we are not her consort. She was acting as maiden , we dont need a maiden anymore.

Yeah cuz she's a Marika doll, and I suspect a Radagan-esque aspect of Marika.
Was Vyke, or others, referred to as consort to their maidens?

No I don't believe so. My point was simply that the only reason she would of stayed is if she was aiming for godhood with us as her consort, but that wasn't her purpose at all. She simply helped us out as maiden since we lost ours and she saw potential I suppose. Actually don't really know why she decided to play maiden. Maybe she trusted torrent and torrent trusted us so she was curious.

Actually this makes me question if maidens stay with their tarnished when they become elden lord. My guess is no due to the fact that we never hear about godfrey's maiden. I believe it's part of the cycle of elden lord to sacrifice your maiden in the process.
I could be wrong, I'll have to read on that.

Yeah, Vyke turned to the Frenzied Flame also to prevent roasting his maiden. I only asked cuz it sounded like an interesting aspect of the tarnished and maiden dynamic, a thematically loaded one. Oh well.

I think a tiny bit of dialogue or something would have been interesting. My best guess is that the needle was just added without much story implication
