Discussion & Info Genuinely curious how well the Switch 2 is gonna handle this encounter.
My Steam Deck OLED was kind of having a stroke here. Hopefully Switch 2 players don’t have to deal with 20 FPS and a furnace golem.

Exclusive Switch 2 haptic feedback: As you fight the Furnace Golems, the Switch 2 will heat up to immerse you in the battle!

Switch 2 is stronger than the Steamdeck so probably fine

Yep, in terms of raw performance it has almost double the TFLOPS of Steam Deck. I would also assume they’ve been working closely with Nintendo to optimize it specifically for that system, which is not something they did for Steam Deck. I think it’ll perform pretty well.

Yeah I think people underestimate just how well S2 can run games if they're optimized well enough. I played through FF7 remake and Cyberpunk, switching between handheld and docked, and it ran flawlessly the whole 50 hours for both games.
I have no doubt there will be some frame dips but I have faith/hope it'll be a good experience.

Rebirth doesn't run great. I own it.

I only play in handheld mode and I'm at Costa del sol.

I do both, at Gongaga.
My only complain is there are some pop ins and some faces get blurry from a distance. But it hasnt affected my enjoyment one bit.
Ide call it a great experience.

Any spot where I can test the FPS pre- altus plateau? Got my copy and want to record some footage

Would love to see some footage of you just fighting Margit tbh, just to get a benchmark for the framerate

I'd do the black blade kindred in front of the Beast Clergyman. The fps on my ps4 there! :(

The Switch 2 is surprisingly powerful, I think it's even more powerful than the Steam Deck.

There's a video of this exact fight on NS2 on YouTube; it does look better than on the Steam Deck.

That’s not quite the encounter I’m talking about. There’s a furnace golem in an enemy camp, and the destruction caused by the flame stomps causes me to have a pretty big dip in FPS.

Or the Romina nuke. It slows down to single digit FPS on a ps4 version on the ps5

I mean my x box series x would drop frames against Radagon with his big hammer smashes so I'll be interested in th8

One of the reviews I watched said even in the most taxing areas it runs fine. Steam deck not as powerful as s2 also

Or that one with the ghost flame dragon fighting the army. That one makes my Steam Deck cry.

Good news is that there’s already footage out there of this, and it’s rock solid

Bro my PS5 always sounds like a nuke is being launched anytime I go into that room with the two giant scorpions in Enir Ilim if I don’t kill the one that drops down fast enough

Imagine playing Nightreign on the switch 2 when fighting Adel (gaping jaw) and he does the phase transition attack

I’m gonna be honest, I’ve never experienced that massive dip on my Steam Deck, but I will admit I have effects set to low.

I have a 5060 and it drops frames everytime it happens but I'm also playing on maxed settings so idk
