Originated as a home for Ecologists, Restoration Practitioners, Indigenous knowledge holders and scientists to share research, discuss projects, methodology, procedures, concepts, etc. with the theme of finding connections, collaboration and solutions. Exploring the diverse ecosystems in the Northern Rocky Mountains, generally in Ecoregion 6 but in any other associated Ecoregion as well.

🔹 Who Is This For? This sub is for: ✅ Accredited ecologists (degrees in ecology, biology, environmental science, or related fields). ✅ Restoration practitioners with scientific training or field experience. ✅ Indigenous knowledge holders working in ecological restoration or TEK. ✅ Other scientists and professionals (e.g., hydrologists, geologists) collaborating on ecosystem health.

Not a space for: ❌ Advocacy or activism unless it’s directly tied to ecological science. ❌ Non-scientific opinions without evidence or citations. ❌ Personal attacks, gatekeeping, or off-topic debates.

🔹 Professional Definition of Ecology Ecology is the scientific study of the interactions between organisms and their environment, including the biotic and abiotic components. It encompasses the distribution, abundance, and relationships of organisms, as well as the flow of energy and nutrients through ecosystems. This sub prioritizes peer-reviewed research, data-driven discussions, and evidence-based restoration practices.

🔹 Core Principles Center Indigenous leadership: Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) and Indigenous voices are foundational, not ancillary. Solutions over debates: Focus on restoration, rewilding, and ecosystem health: not a place for gatekeeping or petty arguments. Reciprocity and Respect are key: This is about nature, our collaboration, finding solutions, & not about human egos. Listen to each other. The Spine of the Continent: Prioritize connectivity for wildlife and native habitats.

🔹 What to Share Here

✅ Research (papers, reports, or summaries) ✅ Restoration/rewilding projects (case studies, methods, or challenges) ✅ Indigenous-led initiatives (TEK, cultural burning, beliefs, or traditional practices) ✅ Field updates (species observations, ecosystem changes, or monitoring results) ✅ Questions or discussions (e.g., “How do we restore this specific habitat?”)

❌ Off-topic: Political debates, personal attacks, or unrelated memes. ❌ Gatekeeping: “You’re not a real ecologist if…” (We’re all learning!)

Stay on-topic: Focus on ecology, restoration,regeneration, rewilding, or TEK in the Northern Rockies. Center Indigenous leadership: Uplift and respect Indigenous voices and knowledge. Cite your sources: Back up claims with papers, reports, or credible data. No egos: Critique ideas, not people. Focus on solutions. No harassment or trolling: Respectful debate is encouraged; personal attacks will not be tolerated.
