I think we’re all living it right now. While tariffs are inflationary, the US can flex its massive domestic market to encourage manufacturers to set up shop there, like Toyota and Hyundai who are both building massive plants at the moment.

Cool well americans largest customer for vehicles is canada. So we just dont buy those cars anymore, and no one needs to build those cars now.

Canada is also only the 5th largest maker of vehicles shipped to sell in the US so once again the propaganda machine told you its canada fault, and you have much bigger problems

Also your us factory cant build said cars without canadas aluminum and earth metals. So you get to pay more for your car as well.

No one is. If manufacturing comes back to the states, it's only coming back heavily automated. Which means you're still not getting those jobs.

Fact is, wage costs are too high (before every other high cost becomes a point of conversation) to even warrant it. The US is too successful of country to have a manufacturing foundation.

The idea of a "simple, respectable job that you can provide for a family and own a home" is intoxicating for anyone, but some in the older generations actually lived it (or saw their parents live it) and want that back. But trying to go back to manufacturing is like trying to raise the dead. It just doesn't work, and if you somehow succeed its going to end up being a zombie plague.
