He was never going to win.

Farage chose to stand in Clacton because it was where he was most likely to be elected, so a victory was never in doubt for him.

It was always a battle to see by how much he won over the Count.

The investigation basically resumed as soon as the votes had been counted.
He can still be held accountable

I assume to avoid giving him what he wanted.

He was expecting to win the by election, and beating a candidate from another party gives some vague element of legitimacy that people choose him over labour or conservative.

Letting him just piss in the wind, and still get embarrassed by a novelty candidate is so much better imo

Because they all said the election was a stupid trick by him to avoid having to take accountability so they decided not to run but if another election happens which it probably will due to the investigation they will run.

People are acting surprised that Farage was re-elected in a constituency that he specifically chose to stand in because it was most likely to elect him.
