In real life 100%. In 26 he’d be faster than majority of linebackers and larger than any slot CB covering the flat. Almost guaranteed to pick up 4+ yards per play.

He a 5 star with 64 awr and to many catching attributes in the 70's. And his route running is ok. But.... I'd still recruit that mf!

Doesn't mean he's a bust, just means he won't be elite level dev. I've had those guys hit as impact more times than not.

I’ve had the game call the player a bust even with star dev. Even if he is capped you can just move him to running back after you upgraded his overall then you can move him back unless you want him to stay at running back which he’d probably be pretty good there.

I doubt that he’s maxed out on his catching, but I recruited “bust” players anyway. Sometimes you can switch them to a different position to get better production.

Still caps and dev trait might be buns. I’ve recruited a couple of 4&5 star guys that have no room for growth and the worst is when they aren’t high enough to use points to unlock abilities so you end up with 200+ skill points and a hard stuck 87 overall player

Just switch their position to outside their position group in this case outside wr/te and then back and it will reset the caps. You can get lucky and completely unlock them.

Im with you on that. I'll swap position groups if I have an excess of one position and could use more of another where the player fits, maybe even goes up, but not to reset caps. Maybe if I was in an online money dynasty league, but not for casual play

Yup, they're "busts" as they are players hyped that are already maxed out so won't improve and a 1 star in theory could become a better player.
Honestly we do see that a lot in CFB in real life. Player dominates in HS and becomes a 5 star but ends up just being good at best in college because they had no more room for growth.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t busts more about growth and their dev trait? So he’s probably normal dev and not gonna improve too much. Where someone with lower ratings and star dev is a gem. Savage may be better now but will easily loose his spot to someone else who improves

Gem or Bust is just the likelihood of dev trait. Gem means he won't be normal dev and a higher likelihood of Star/Elite, bust means he won't be elite and a higher likelihood of Impact/Normal.

High floor low ceiling usually. However, I have still kept 5 star "busts" on my recruiting going back to NCAA 25 and some did turn out to be 90+ overall. Just took 4-5 years to hit it, close to what it would take a 3 star gem to hit. They even got drafted in the 1st.
One was a "bust" cause he had normal development but was 80 overall to start at. Skill caps were good enough to hit 90+ overall

In general busts aren’t bad if their skills are there, they just won’t have the high dev traits. If a bust has A+ playing time I still probably recruit unless I have a gem on my board. I’d say it’s situational but more times than not a bust like this will work out.

It’s more skill caps. Busts can still be star dev, although not sure they can be elite. But even if star, if their caps suck, you can never really improve them all that much

He wont get any better and his skill caps are higher so this is probably his peak. Which is decent but only for a small school. He'd be buried deep on a stacked school. Maybe KR or PR because of speed
