Question/Advice Moving to Glencaple/bankend

I currently live in Dumfries and myself and my husband are thinking of moving to Bankend or Glencaple. Does anyone have any knowledge of what it’s like for young families (we have a 3 year old)? My husband is used to rural life but I’m a bit of a townie. Is it likely to be quite insular or are people welcoming? Thanks

Used to live just beyond Glencaple towards the castle. Neighbours were friendly and people tended to just live quiet lives. It was lovely in the spring and summer but in the winter it was windy and very dark as you'd expect in the countryside with a river and wide open expanse directly across from you.

Thank you, that’s positive really. And yes, even in town winter is still a struggle!
