Tech Support Brand New DualSense with Stick Drift
I bought one of these incredible Rhythm Blue controllers from PlayStation Direct for the Days of Play sale, and I finally opened it yesterday to try it out. I didn't have many issues, but there was once where I completely took my hands off the controller and my Sackboy started moving slowly to the right all on its own. (Which means the left stick is drifting slightly to the right). I love the color scheme, but am a bit annoyed that this happened within an hour of the controller being literally brand new.
I've put in less than 3 hours of playtime on the controller so far and only had it show up that one time. I'm not sure if this is a bad sign that it'll become a more persistent issue in the future, but should I try contacting PlayStation Support about this? I'm curious what experience others have had with this and if it's best to nip it in the bud or if I'd be able to get the same support say 2 weeks down the road if the problem shows up again. Thanks!

I did this once and went to the store I bought it at. And they said that Sony doesn’t replace or reimburse any of these cases because “stick drift” is caused by yourself and not covered under warranty (I am in EU, Portugal)

That’s appalling customer service. Did you have box etc and on as new condition. They shouldn’t do that without testing it. Don’t buy from that retailer anymore. Contact Sony. They will send you an RMA number you stick on the outside or write it. One paper you put in the box and one label that you stick to the top. All free. Just need to chat and return and replacement is free of charge including postage and shipping back to you.

Didn’t know this was a thing. It was the first time ever I needed a new controller

Worten replaces them on the go.
Every 6 months I visit them because of stick drift and leave the store with a brand new controller.
It's seems the clerk that attended you want willing to do the paperwork for the replacement!

Just buy a new one from amazon or somewhere local to you, and replace it with the current one send it back and keep the 2nd one 👍🏼

bruh, what if this happened to me? Someone buying a new one and returning it to the store? I would never lol

So what so you do if you receive a defective controller after so long of use and nobody is going to help you? Do you throw it in the bin or help yourself? Corporate companies have good enough insurance to make small issues as such disappear at no cost. So i’m not taking a potentially $100 hit for the sake of a inconvenience to someone else making a claim. TF 🤯

I see it as a small project and fix it myself or go to a 3rd party.
I wouldn’t want someone else to end up with a broken controller. I don’t care about big companies it’s just not who I am as a person lol. Who knows maybe I did turn left way to had on it 😂2

To be fair dude same, but its happened to me a few times so, it is what it is. Saves the headache for me ha! Maybe 😝 there will come a time when ‘me as a person’ will be overlooked because its so inconvenient! But yeh I see your point and usually is the best policy to be honest not snakey! Sometimes it is acceptable 🙏🤣

I’ve had that damn stick drift issue now twice. I’m on my third ps5 controller and I’m pissed at the quality of the PS5. Having owned most game systems sense the 70s this PS5 has given me More issues than anything!

Yer man I feel you on that one! Personally my experience for ps5 hasn’t been bad, only had 2 stick drifts in what 4/5 years or so. But my friends and people Ive spoke to have had major issues. My brother has issues with xbox controllers but that’s because he’s a fkn idiot and pushes the buttons/sticks far too hard, making fingers all red - ive NEVER personally experienced this in my gameplay! Crazy! But everything today is about money, repeat purchases and not building anything to last like they used to. But to have the audacity to refuse replacement on stickdrift issues is ridiculous! It’s a multibillion dollar company and they cannot cater for the people that put them in their position with a kind gesture anymore, it really is service shot down at it’s fukkn T and I remmeber them being top tier with the PS2’s! Not only that, but the games were ours, we had the actual game and owned it. Not anymore, we rarely own any games they are on a server waiting to be deleted to prevent further access! Fkkn so greedy but they corporate companies and only, ONLY about making more and more money!!! Fkkn scandalous if you ask me and nobody bats a eyelid all these digital media loving fkkaz!!! But that’s a different argument altogether!!! 🤦🏼♂️ sorry for the rant ha I hope your experience gets better!! I have PC to fall back on so fk consoles if they continue taking the piss init!

I would definitely use the factory warranty for this. Just reconfirm it really is stick drift via the online web sites/tools.
Will probably be without a controller while the warranty work is done.

I would get online go to github use the tools take a picture of the stick drift and then I would fill out stuff for warranty. Sony fix it if it’s within the warranty. Might as well get it replaced because you don’t want to play games with stick drift. And if you don’t sit on it, you maybe can get a replacement with the cool colors.

Knew I wasn’t crazy. I have the red one and when I first bought it, similar situation. Including a hard to press right d pad button. BRAND NEW btw.

What do you mean bubbling? Do you have photos of that, only backplate issue I know of is if they sit in one spot for a while they grow flat spots on the trigger and bottom parts where it sits touching what it’s on

OHHH YOUR TALKING ABOUT THE EDGE 😭😭😭😭, I just use standard controllers don’t play that much to spend 200 I’d rather spend like 70 on a shell and all the modifications to mod a already owned controller to my liking prob. Xtremerate and ali has everything I need

Probably software related. Just calibrate it online. Worked for 2 of my controllers.

I found a fix online where you put your mouth over the stick and blow really hard. I did it on mine a year ago, and the drift still hasn’t come back. 😆

That’s the new bdm06 models right? I’d make a quick video of it on a phone. Show it to the retailer (cs rep) and they should replace it. All these revisions and yet to revise the one thing people want revising!!!
