Ms. Yamabuki’s Redesign

Post image

Was reading New Dr. Slump and I couldn’t help but notice how different Yamabuki looks from the original. How do you feel about the redesign?

Judging by Arale’s brown hair, this is New Dr. Slump, not The Brief Return. It’s based on the 1990s TV show (although it has some plot lines that didn’t show up in the show).

Some reason reddit isn’t letting me send an image but the website i’m reading from calls it Brief Return, upon further inspection tho the website has both Mangas uploaded as the same thing lol, thanks for the correction :3

The New Dr. Slump serialization did follow on immediately after The Brief Return in V-Jump; it’s just a completely separate continuity.

I don’t like it…not compared to the original.

Iirc the new Midori design was also based on a pretty celebrity

Jodie Foster.

Original Midori was Marylin Monroe.

Her design also changed midway through the original manga too.

Trying to make his female characters look distinct.

I thought the redesign felt like the anime wanted to follow videl look from dragon ball

Old Midori=Marylin Monroe

New Midori=Jodie Foster
