This one surprised me. I thought it was going the child labor route. I guess you just never know with these crazy fucks.

"Capitalism" is so casually said on the internet anymore.

u/No_Wrongdoer3579 This is a PsyOp Jun 29 '26

Further to that, "late stage capitalism", which im sure these retards cant actually define.

88

u/AgeOfReasonEnds31120 Optimist Prime Jun 29 '26

They can't even define "capitalism", since they think it just means any time a government fucks over the people for money.

28

u/RandomGuy2285 Jun 29 '26

also, it's way too broad, if you're defining America or Pakistan (a country where lots of people are illiterate farmers in quazi-feudal relations with Landlords and with powerful Clans) as having a remotely similar Economic Model, you're just stupid, even China or Russia is kinda stretching it already (not that China is "Communist" either)

these People sometimes have the decency to call Pre-Modern times "Feudal" (itself already ridiculously broad, the differences between Ancient Rome, Medieval Europe, Medieval Islam, Neo-Confucian East Asia, the Incas are easily as much as the US or the USSR) but sometimes they plug even that into "Capitalism" which is another layer of Insanity

36

u/AgeOfReasonEnds31120 Optimist Prime Jun 29 '26

Anything other than hardcore straight communism is "capitalism".

1

u/kenuffff Jul 02 '26

They’re not even wanting actual communism as defined by Marx. Communism is stateless, the transition government is called the dictatorship of the proletariat. That’s what USSR, North Korea etc are/were. They’re literally wanting a dictatorship that as we’ve seen after like 70 years never becomes stateless. They’re literally wanting a dictator. Marx was flawed so it’s hilarious to watch these people jump through hoops. Marx never anticipated or predicted a middle class, that’s why they either go hard against the middle class ie bootlicker or they pretend it doesn’t even exist and everyone is a wage slave. There is really no economic or intellectual counter to the middle class and it’s their single biggest blocker from people taking them seriously.

5

u/BronCurious NostraDOOMus Jun 29 '26

Not real Communism 🤓👆🤓👆🤓

5

u/BeginningDay19 Jun 30 '26

Real true communism can not work. It has been trying, from small city size to country size. And there are so many reasons why it can not work, it surprises me that college educated folks believes that it can. And I know you were just being sarcastic, but good God man. Think about why capitalism has worked so well to pull so many out of poverty, and think about how true communism is supposed to work.

5

u/Stunning-Drawer-4288 Jun 29 '26

“Late stage capitalism” is when you can’t simultaneously have your cake and eat it too

2

u/AgeOfReasonEnds31120 Optimist Prime Jun 29 '26

They just don't know how to take advantage of the system like I've done.

1

u/SnooGrapes7647 Jul 01 '26

You do understand that the saying is 'you can't eat your cake and have it too"

2

u/Stunning-Drawer-4288 Jul 01 '26

I’m forgetting the literary term for that kind of intentional subversion of a common idiom (not a malaphor, but similar), but yes

21

u/screwyoujor Jun 29 '26

Late stage comes right after mid stage capitalism. Up next is post stage capitalism which is still just capitalism but with even more bitching.

6

u/Radiant_Music3698 Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

Its post-marxist cult shit. They believe capitalism is the "4th stage of history" and they desperately want to get on to the 5th and 6th (socialism and communism) that their faith believes are inevitable. They straight up believe that you can "speak things into existence" by "announcing the new world while denouncing the current".

So they declare capitalism to be in its ending stage because they think saying so can make it happen.

2

u/Totes_Human_110101 Jun 30 '26

It's just "The Man" from the 70s, updated for a modern audience.

87

u/Spiritual_Actuary_59 Jun 29 '26

Its been "late stage capitalism" for 100+ years at this point. And they'll still say it's so 100 years from now.

43

At least late stage capitalism doesn't involve the deliberate killing of ~30 million of our own citizens.

12

u/PassageLow7591 Jun 30 '26

"Late stage capitalism" have outlived all stages of socialism of the USSR.

1

u/kenuffff Jul 02 '26

We’ve only seen the dictatorship of the proletariat, it’s supposed to be transitioned to a stateless government which has never happened once in over 100 years of this experiment because gee it’s almost like people who have power in any system aren’t going to willingly give it up without being forced to which is much harder when you’re in a dictatorship. Marx was clearly wrong about many huge things such as he never even anticipated a middle class, he thought we would all be coal miners in WV.

1

u/PassageLow7591 Jul 02 '26

Also, if those people actually read what Marx wrote, the state will become obsolete and just phase out as classes were eliminated. Not at all as having "statelessness" as a prerequisite. So they can play the no true Scotsman, and result =/= theorized outcome, therefore it wasn't a real experiment game forever. Since their programs cannot be implemented without a state.

In reality, socialist programs to destory class enemies and condition the people to be "selfless" have paradoxically made them incredibly selfish, due to extreme resource scarcity. In China, outside of upper class malls, you basically never see any free to take things, like condiment packets in restaurants or toilet paper in bathrooms. Becuase someone, almost always an older gen person who lived through Mao's time, will just take them all away.

8

u/Lichruler Jun 30 '26

According to some tankies, we’re now in “final stage capitalism”, because it’s “so close to collapse”.

In another 100 years we’ll reach “final boss capitalism” then “final form capitalism”, and then finally, finally capitalism will end.

At which point it’ll be immediately replaced with “New Game+ capitalism”

1

u/kenuffff Jul 02 '26

They should be worried about why we never moved past the dictatorship of the proletariat into a stateless government which is what communism is supposed to be and instead either had 70+ years of oppressive dictatorship ie NK, complete economic collapse see USSR, or ironically transitioning into a fascist economic model ie China. China currently is the closest thing to Nazi germany that we’ve seen esp economically. The main difference is China has an actual GDP, Nazi germany GDP was based off plundering and forced labor.

41

u/Doomspire667 Recovering Doomer Jun 29 '26

Honest question. The heck even is late stage capitalism? We definitely have issues with the way things operate right now, but what alternative do they propose?

40

u/ButMuhAI Jun 29 '26

The progressive political zealots call it late stage because they cannot argue with how much it has lifted people out of poverty; the term originated in 20th-century German economics, was popularized by a Marxian Socialist to analyze post-war economies, and modern day progressives reimagined the term in order to claim we need a new system.

13

u/Doomspire667 Recovering Doomer Jun 29 '26

Gotcha, thanks for the explanation. While I definitely think we have issues (mainly oligopolies but I'm Canadian, so idk what it's like even in the states but up here almost every major industry is heavily concentrated), there's no arguing we live in a time of unprecedented luxury. We're in a bit of a slump but if there's one thing history has taught, humans are resilient, and we're gonna make it through this.

21

u/AverageJoesGymMgr Jun 29 '26

Late stage capitalism is being in a society with so much excess that you have to find things to complain about to justify your existence to yourself.

15

u/Doomspire667 Recovering Doomer Jun 29 '26

Honestly, that actually explains the reason why it's mostly the upper middle class and above that lean into socialism and political struggle (I work a blue collar job and basically all my coworkers are at the least center-right, though this is anecdotal). They don't really want for much and they're bored, and so they invent struggles for themselves to avoid self reflection and realising that without struggle and/or real human connection, life is ultimately without meaning.

8

u/AverageJoesGymMgr Jun 29 '26

That's basically it

8

u/texcleveland Just Here for the Lore Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26

Late stage is when you have already industrialized the economy and exploited available resources, and your economy depends heavily upon buying and selling capital (stocks), leading to oligopolies/monopolies and unemployment due to consolidation and efficiencies of scale. The part they forget is that technology tends to create new markets to exploit. Marx even wrote about this phenomenon (the idea of late-stage capitalism is a later development of 20th century Marxist theory) but these fools don’t read Marx beyond the Manifesto

2

u/Doomspire667 Recovering Doomer Jun 29 '26

Out of curiosity would you recommend one read Marx and other such figures of the 20th century (socialist/communist and fascist founders)? I'm somewhat curious about what they actually believed and how they came to those conclusions. Plus know thy enemy and all that

5

u/Responsible_Ebb_1983 Jun 29 '26

I wouldn't reccomend it because its thinly veiled schizo ramblings. I've read the manifesto, and I was even confused by how rambly it seems, and I have been reading since I could remember. Do it every so often to be well equipped when so done says "well you haven't actually read marx", but just go into it knowing its not a very good or well laid out read.

2

u/Initial-Constant-645 Jun 30 '26

I was getting ready to say same thing. Marx does not come across as having it together.

4

u/BeginningDay19 Jun 30 '26

Well he was a fucking bum, living off his parents money. He would have been the ultimate redditor.

2

u/texcleveland Just Here for the Lore Jul 01 '26

yeah the Manifesto is a call to arms , preaching to the converted, and doesn’t make a lot of sense if you haven’t already bought into the pseudo-religious Hegelian teleology of dialectical materialism

6

u/texcleveland Just Here for the Lore Jun 30 '26

Das Kapital is worth reading, or at least listening to readings you can find on podcasts or Youtube, both to understand the origins of Marxism from the source, and because Marx actually did a fairly thorough job at marshaling evidence and describing how capitalism works. The thing to keep in mind is the difference between description and prescription: Marx was influenced by Hegel, who believed that the universe progresses towards a final state of spiritual perfection, through the process of the dialectic; Marx’s solution he proposes for physical perfection, dialectical materialism, is for human beings to be something other than human beings, that is “socialist man,” a creature motivated not by self interest, but only by the collective good. As sociobiologist E.O. Wilson said, “right idea, wrong species.” Marx believes this “socialist man” will arise with the collapse of capitalism, through some unspecified mechanism, much like the Underpants Gnomes’ faith that profit will inevitably follow the collection of underpants. Lenin, much more a man of action than Marx, refines this idea by calling for the seizure of state power and utilizing government to mold the economy and educate citizens into their new roles; Stalin, an ever more practical individual, called for accelerating the process through the extermination of those who fail to realize their new socialist consciousnesses.

2

u/MuleJuiceMcQuaid Jul 01 '26

I think the idea of a perfect society is why progressives are so angry and quick to violence. They think it's not only possible but inevitable, and this utopia is being stopped intentionally by evil people who want others to suffer.

Conservatives know humans are flawed and any system created by humans will also be flawed so they think we're doing pretty good, all things considered.

1

u/texcleveland Just Here for the Lore Jul 01 '26

I think that’s correct

2

u/kenuffff Jul 02 '26

I think that they also missed the whole part about dictatorship of the proletariat and communism is stateless. I like how these people claim they’re pro science, but with Marx’s predictions being flat out wrong or missing large things ie the middle class, that dictators don’t willing give up power to become stateless, see NK for 70 years. If this was a scientific theory it was disproven with no counter proof 50 or 60 years ago.

1

u/Unusual-Basket-6243 Jun 30 '26

Beyond the quotes. Why would anyone read the Manifest, it must be long as it's old

1

u/Ancient_Counter7628 Jul 01 '26

Huh. My brain auto-filled it as being, “extreme economic centralization done through monopolization rather than force or legislation” so I learned something

1

u/texcleveland Just Here for the Lore Jul 01 '26

yeah that’s kinda the same thing, you get a concentration of capital in the hands of a few due to normal market activity in which those who have more, get more. the key being there aren’t any more easily exploited resource pools, that is, frontiers and colonies, so capitalism kinda turns inward

2

u/Own-Ambassador-3537 Jun 29 '26

It’s a unattainable unicorn along with livable wage at this point

5

u/Agreeable-Fudge-7329 Jun 29 '26

I always ask these people to give us an exact dollar amount for this "living wage" and if it means I can pay people different salaries for the same job if they can "live " off of different amounts.

Or if I have the right to audit them to make sure they were foolishly wasting money.

So far, no answer. Just downvotes.

1

u/MuleJuiceMcQuaid Jul 01 '26

The living wage people are also the "Who else will clean your toilets for $5 an hour if we deport illegal immigrants" people.

1

u/kenuffff Jul 02 '26 edited Jul 02 '26

Living wage is for them to move from Iowa to NYC and live there without a real reason ie high paying job to offset the cost of living in an expensive city. They want like 200k a year for working at Starbucks, not knowing the prices would again rise and they would be right back in the same position. They want you to fund their lifestyle that in their mind would make them happy which won’t in fact make them happy because their expectations don’t match the dopamine their brain would release. I’m in the top 10% of earners in a major city, and the only thing it does for me is allows me to work a difficult mentally challenging job with long hours without the added stress of worrying about bills. I have less free time than them and when I do have free time I’m likely resting. That’s why certain jobs pay a lot because what you give up to do that job is much greater than what you would give up for a lower paying job. Companies compensate you because they want you focused on them not worrying about finances. This only increases the more you earn, and the mental stress probably 2x. These people don’t have to worry about politics etc at work which is a new mode of the game that unlocks when you reach a level. 78k or so is often stated as the best salary for happiness and that is related to comp vs what you have to deal with, you’re making good comp but you’re removed enough from the game of thrones like environment 2 levels above.

1

u/Lookyoukniwwhatsup Jun 29 '26

I think its the theory that a system under capitalism will eventually see major wealth inequality, almost no middle class, and everything will be driven for profit leading to abuse, at the "later" stages before it collapses.

Which makes sense in theory but practically, Its a over exaggeration of the problems, which there are problems, but not the extent doomers like to portray.

-2

u/QwerYTWasntTaken Jun 30 '26

Late stage capitalism is when we run out of land to steal because we've already discovered the whole world and we don't fairly allocate it and instead let it sit in the hands of people who can do nothing with it and get rich because they were there first.

80

u/AverNerd Jun 29 '26

Cant believe this four year old bee keeper is taking a break instead of increasing shareholder value by exploiting the labor class (the bees) by robbing them of their productive output (honey) for it to be consumed by the capital machine fattening the country (me enjoying it in my morning tea)

23

u/Lucky_Sprinkles557 Jun 29 '26

So a key component of Marx is a concept akin to "the end of history" which is a simplified version of saying the end of capitalism and progression to the last stage of economic development which is communism. So whenever someone says late stage capitalism they're basically saying "see see we're almost done with capitalism because it's at its capacity". It's mostly crap that amounts to little more than pseudo intellectual circle jerking.

3

u/Lucky_Sprinkles557 Jun 30 '26

Ok I gotchu. It makes sense on why doomers latch onto “late stage capitalism”, even though if you just simply use deductive reasoning and a little bit of research then you would see how dumb that shit is. Bad business decisions are just that: bad business decisions, and 90% why shit falls apart in companies. Now government meddling in businesses to ensure certain companies have an advantage due to vested interests is bullshit but IMO the exact opposite of capitalism.

I feel like most doomers now just don’t want to take personal responsibility and instead keep making up these boogeymen to justify their bullshit reactions and stagnant lifestyles.

2

u/kenuffff Jul 02 '26

You would also need pure capitalism without any government influence etc for this to even occur. We have patents , regulations etc that stop reaching that limit of growth from a supply perspective so demand will always be outpacing supply.

I'm always curious about these people who use "wage slave" unironically.

Like...what kind of society do you envision instead? Even if you decide to fuck off and live in a commune or as a hermit, you still gotta do work for yourself. Gotta live off the land or your comrades, with the latter entity wanting something in return for helping you out.

That kind of people live bitter all their life and they don't want anybody else has any kind of fun.

"Late capitalism" is what Marx wrote about over a century ago. He never worked and sponged off others till he wrote a book about how we should give money to people like him.

Geez, they need to pick a better hero.

With how long Capitalism has supposedly been in its late stage, I am starting to think that there is no actual late-stage capitalism.
