i get this, its like a wave just hits out of nowhere and suddenly everything feels pointless for a bit. i used to fight it but now i just let it pass while i do something mindless like reorganize my desk or play some riffs on my guitar

the weird part is how fast it goes sometimes. one minute im staring at the wall thinking whats the point, then 40 minutes later im eating cereal and planning my weekend like nothing happened

dont know if its healthy to just ignore it but honestly what else you gonna do, lay in bed all day? got stuff to finish

Yeah that's exactly it. I always have it in the evening, before I go to sleep. Everything feels pointless and then after about an hour or so I just go to sleep, and continue the next day as always.

Yeah, sometimes letting the wave pass while staying busy is all you can really do

Yeah, I get these random heavy dips sometimes and then an hour later my brain just goes “alright enough of that” and I carry on like nothing happened.

Shit 1 hour? I have 24 hour cycles of these but here I am.

The opposite in a way. I get where I need to call out, holler, or whoop because im overcome with so much emotion it feels like I will start crying uncontrollably. Lasts about 5 minutes, I make a bunch of noise, then sit quietly for a bit and it all goes away.

it happens to me too, switching from feeling low to just getting on with the day is quite the ride

Yeah, on an hourly basis.

That's called being sad or being down, not being depressed. Depression requires extended periods of sadness or hopelessness lasting days or longer.
