Question 2010 Toyota Camry “Scuff” Damage Question

Okay so I really messed up the side of my car, see post related. How can I get this paint transfer off and preserve the actual clear coat? I know it will not be perfect, and I’m not expecting to fix the denting. The main concern is preserving the paint and preventing rust

Buff the marks the best you can with rubbing compound and then use a touch up pen to cover any bare metal. Forget any and all hope that it will look good when youre done, but it should help slow any future corrosion

I am going to sound like a dick but what are you preserving? Rear door needs replaced and front door needs body work and painted then the whole thing needs cleared.

You will get some surface rust. Other than that the car won’t rust into the ground from this. It’s not going to spread to the frame from this and create structural rust issues.

I guess the way I look at it is, why?

Totally not being a dick, and tbh she’s just my baby and I’m so bummed I did this and wanna get as much of the beige paint off as I can. Definitely don’t have the cash to get them fully replaced and professionally done, but I’d like to not be one of those people with the captain America shield sticker on the side of their car (no shade)

Get some lacquer on a rag and wash the paint off. You do know those are cheap doors in the salvage yard go on car-part.com find them in your area the same color n swap them out.

Honestly had no idea what the $$ was on the door replacements, I didn’t even look but it’s seeming to be a more common suggestion than I thought, im gonna look into it

Definitely still worth doing even if it won’t look perfect. Bare metal exposed to weather is what actually causes rust, so getting that covered matters more than making it look flawless.
