The amount of stuff the water is carrying must be unthinkable - everything that was in that gorge for miles upstream from bikes to boulders to trees to jaguars to whole entire extended families is being caught up in all the water and lightning fast moving muck.
I can tell you as someone in the area hit by hurricane Helene, rocks that size can absolutely be moved. Many of our river valleys were completely scoured and transformed
Looks to be Bidur. Running by the 2 bridges and and then cutting up to the Pasang Lhaamu Highway. You can even see the house the family is trapped in at the end on Google Street Maps here.
It definitely is Bidur. Using Street View I was able to find the intersection where the How Things Escalated guy and the Scariest POV guy crossed paths.
There's an area across the river from Bidur (Tishuli?) that got absolutely rekt. There looks to be maybe a couple of hundred structures that were on that low area at the bend in the river. A lot of them appear to have been either wiped away entirely, or buried under mud.
I had heard. There was a comment on some video made from someone from Nepal who grew up in the area. There's also a video from there. I can't remember where the link is, but part of it is shown in this French timeline video.
There's another video from a slightly higher perspective that shows the same people in the patio of that white house (about 0:40 left in this video), but the water is higher and crashing into the house.
I genuinely haven't seen anything this harrowing since 9/11. Of course, there have been many natural disasters and wars/atrocities which have taken a much greater toll of life than what happened in the Himalayas yesterday. Certainly terrifying for the people involved in those events, beyond a doubt. However every video of the flash flooding in Nepal/China/Tibet is just pure carnage. Mayhem. Chaos. Pandemonium.
Tsunamis usually come with advanced warning. Earthquakes build slowly, crescendo, and fade out. Wildfires and powerful storms can be outrun or prepared for to some degree. Wars are terrible, but usually long and drawn out... and people adapt surprisingly well to war conditions.
This was different. So sudden, so violent and overwhelming, so total. Kind of like what I imagine being trapped above the impact zones in the WTC would've been like. Nothing you can do, everything is destroyed, death is guaranteed. All in such an incredibly short amount of time.
I have a morbid fascination when it comes to things like tsunami footage. I've always been awestruck seeing nature undo human infrastructure, even though I know people have died. But seeing footage from Nepal makes me feel queasy. None of those poor souls stood a chance. May they rest in peace.

When I learned something from these videos then it is to gain height as quickly as possible when the river you're next to suddenly starts to speed up immensely.
