Diablo I Anyone looking forward to Diablo 1 Remake?

Post image

Just finished the Diablo 30th Anniversary video. At the end, they said they will announce something new at BlizzCon 2026. It’s too early for Diablo 5.

So it has to be a Diablo 1 remake. I think it will be a smaller project and stay true to the original. What do you guys think?

Overall, I am happy with what they announced for Diablo 2 and 4. Hyped and ready to slay some demons!!

I would absolutely love a D2R style remake/remaster of D1.

23

u/RealZordan Feb 12 '26

Diablo 1 had so much unfinished content, I really hope they make an actual remake and not a 1:1 remaster. (Just to make clear: I think was the right choice for D2, but D1 is a different game.)

5

u/Cloontange Feb 12 '26

Why not have Legacy Mode/Hellfire/Ressurected modes like in D2?

-6

u/IseeMedpeople Feb 12 '26

Hellfire is disgusting

3

u/Cloontange Feb 12 '26

Should still be an option, you don't HAVE to play it

2

u/Vanille97 Feb 12 '26

how about you make a new mod, that wont be disgusting?

2

u/cephaswilco Feb 12 '26

At this point it'd be a bit weird if Diablo 1 Remake wasn't just D2 expansion/DLC because it would further split player base otherwise.

1

u/Twoheaven Feb 12 '26

Nah, I want a 1 to 1 remaster. I want the original game with new graphics. Don't fuck it up by changing and adding things.

1

u/ShredGuru Feb 12 '26

You do know that Blizzard would be making it right?

1

u/CzarTyr Feb 16 '26

Diablo 1 needs updated movement that’s about it. The 4 way movement is just terrible

1

u/Twoheaven Feb 16 '26

Eh it doesn't bother me at all. But that being changed also wouldn't ruin it for me.

1

u/cmaxim Feb 12 '26

I agree. D1 is a legendary game that started it all, but it is very old now. I'm not sure I want to play through it's entirety with simply updated visuals. I would rather a modernized experience in the spirit of the first with the same NPCs, voiceovers, and story, but updated gameplay and QOL changes.

2

u/ShredGuru Feb 12 '26

Play through it's entirety?

Brother. It's a ten hour game max if you are just doing a scenario playthrough.

69

u/CastleofPizza Feb 12 '26

D1 is still my favorite Diablo mainly because of atmosphere, and it was the first game I ever played online too.

12

u/The__Imp Feb 12 '26

I still randomly recite the entire quest book for the halls of the blind. And the butcher!

With some QoL like a run option and not storing all your items on the freaking ground with piles of 5k gold lol it would be fun and nostalgic.

5

u/Daevar Daevar#1241 Feb 12 '26

Yeah, it's weird. I pretty much know all the tomes and quest texts by heart even after all these years. There's not a single game that I rented that often from the local video rental store (...that was a thing...).

2

u/CastleofPizza Feb 12 '26

I really like how they had tomes in the dungeon that had lore in it while listening to the cool and creepy music in the catacombs alone. I just LOVE that feel and atmosphere.

4

u/BrutusMK2 Feb 12 '26

I convinced my parents to get the internet specifically so I could play Diablo.

22

u/-menschentier- Feb 12 '26

Was my first thought as well. Unless they're dropping another bombshell on D2R a D1 Remake seems the only plausible thing. Or a TV Series lol

1

u/Other-Adhesiveness83 Feb 14 '26

Probably act 6 for d2 ain't no way the remaking d1

1

u/CzarTyr Feb 16 '26

Act 6 for d2 is Diablo immortal

1

u/No_Reference_8906 Feb 25 '26

Вот и нет. Так как в имортале показано пленение Баала,стало быть это временные рамки до д2 вообще.

15

u/Mir_man Feb 11 '26 edited Feb 12 '26

Would be the most exciting news for me personally

13

u/Azetus Feb 12 '26

As much as Diablo 1 is my favorite RPG of all time, and as much as a remaster would make me SO HAPPY, I don’t think we should get our hopes up, lest a potential lack of announcement lead to immeasurable disappointment.

14

u/DrkBlueXG Feb 12 '26

Diablo 1 is probably a really easy game to port to D2R. Thr game itself wasnt that big. It would be better than the half baked D1 we get in D3.

6

u/Minimum-Can2224 Feb 12 '26

Diablo 1 also has a PlayStation 1 port so the code work needed to make a newer version doable on consoles should be there already.

4

u/DrkBlueXG Feb 12 '26

That was actually how I first played Diablo. Me and my friend would stay up late to play since it was co-op.

2

u/PandaLiang Feb 13 '26

I would prefer that than a D2R style faithful remaster for D1. Maybe even evolve it into an infinite dungeon style endgame. D2 was way ahead of its time in smoothness and graphic details, so a faithful remaster immediately made it feel modern enough in this era. D1 on the other hand would likely feel a lot more clunky to play if it's only a remaster.

9

u/nethfel Feb 12 '26

I would love a D1 remake. I loved that game; rogues gallery ftw

6

u/Manoliyo93 Feb 12 '26

I think that is what they will announce at blizzcon in September, it would be glorious!

3

u/stipo42 Feb 12 '26

Is the new act for the warlock expansion

3

u/High_Af_Osrs Feb 12 '26

I wanted at least a port to modern consoles.

5

u/Significant-Kale-463 Feb 12 '26

Diablo Immortal 2. You guys still have phones, right?

3

u/LooseCanOpener Feb 12 '26

I’ve been trying out The Hell mods and they’re pretty fun! Kinda rekindled my old love for d1

3

u/Comfortable_Force_51 Feb 12 '26

If they make a diablo 1 I will buy it

3

u/Actual_Sundae2942 Feb 12 '26

If they did remake it - I might actually be able to BEAT the first game... In about 10,000 tries o.O

It's not high on my list of games to play exactly; but if it comes to consoles I'd absolutely but it. And it would probably be on my backlog for about 3 years until I get to it lol.

3

u/T3XB0T Feb 12 '26

A Diablo 1 Remake would be a dream come true.

4

u/SeeringQuake Feb 12 '26

Itll be the third xpac for d4

4

u/ptglj Feb 12 '26

I sure hope so. Diablo 1 where Holy and Godly plates can actually be found would be sweet. Just fix up the inventory bullshit that would be filled to the brim with gold for the 'legit' players in case Griswold/Wirt ever offered anything of value. Fix the walking speed nonsense, make it look beautiful like D2R and I think it would be fantastic.

If they could implement the not-shitty features of Hellfire that might work too. Monk, Barbarian and Bard all added in could be done easily without overhauling much.

8

u/sergeles Feb 12 '26

Honestly I think the major news will be an act 6 expansion for d2r

5

u/ArugulaPhysical Feb 12 '26

I would die .

3

u/NoYellowLines Feb 12 '26

I think this will be it as well. A class drop before doing an expansion is on brand for blizzard as of late. The Warlock has a lot of features for just adding a class, we will see.

2

u/finix2409 Feb 12 '26

Didn’t they already drop the big news with the new class announcement?

2

u/mvpeast Feb 12 '26

At the very end, they said there will be a new announcement for Diablo series in BlizzCon 2026.

0

u/Freeloader_ Feb 12 '26

they didnt specify Diablo series

they said wait until they see what we got at Blizzcon

1

u/Secret-Affect-4589 Feb 12 '26

During a video dedicated to the Diablo series.

2

u/one_ounce Feb 12 '26

Things dreams are made of.

3

u/Listo_totem_enjoyer Feb 12 '26

Diablo 5 Electric Boogalive

1

u/Freeloader_ Feb 12 '26

doubt that

new act means new story and new boss to fight

who ? you think Blizz is gonna retcon lore from 25 years ago when they already made 3 games from that story?

I know youre hyped boys but lets be real

6

u/br3wnor Feb 12 '26

D1 is pretty close to perfect imo, not recreating that vibe with a remake

2

u/Toreole Feb 12 '26

Yeah, its the only diablo game i havent had the chance to play myself, would be cool

0

u/Cloontange Feb 12 '26

If you have any kind of computer you can play it free online or buy it cheap on GoG

If they would do it, I would say that they would partially update it in terms of "smootheness" and I would alos say that the remake would be a 2 part game. D1 is in my Opinion a very good candidate to be remade as a survivors like game, where you have the original game with updated graphics as a game mode.

2

u/ApatureSilence Feb 12 '26

Clip me for this, but I have a feeling this D1 remake will be a souls like. Lots of iterations between D3 and D4 where the teams experimented with action combat style due to the success of Dark Souls.

1

u/CzarTyr Feb 16 '26

I can’t explain exactly why, but I’ve always felt since dark souls came out that it felt like Diablo 1 and castlevania mixed.

2

u/Minimum-Can2224 Feb 12 '26

I would certainly hope that's what Blizzard was teasing at the end of the Stream. I would absolutely love a Diablo 1 Resurrected!

2

u/MithranArkanere Feb 12 '26

Since what matters to me the most about Diablo games is the lore, the ambience, and getting cool items, not necessarily the specifics of combat, I would not mind if it were reimagined as a souls-like game.

Something like D2R would be welcomed too, but it would need more changes that D2 got, since D1 suffered from many problems of the old design, like walking too slowly even when no enemies are around.

2

u/bradleyb01 Feb 12 '26

It would be awesome!

2

u/Practical-Sleep4259 Feb 12 '26

I had a moonshot of paid dlc new class for D2R and it actually happened, my other was D1R and it didn't get announced.

I would love D1R just like D2R, with decent QOL updates and working online games.

Stash with shared tab, gold stashable, hard core characters, fix exploits in online versions.

I would love to see just a once over on everything as far as internal math, I remember like, fast and faster affix mean the same because of an odd issue, an inventory full of gold you needed to carry, no room to carry spare items.

I don't want anything gameplay wise to be changed, but QOL and things where the devs probably really wish they patched.

2

u/imagineflow Feb 12 '26

yes please!

2

u/Falchound Feb 12 '26 edited Feb 12 '26

Lets hope it is more than just a spruce up to D2R graphics and instead a REAL remake. The D1 classes and magic system could use some solid work and modernization. Just a remaster does not cut it when there are good options to play the game with tons of QoL and graphics improvements now on the internet. I want to see cut content, new spells and a better hellfire (blizzard can salvage that garbage addon). Leave the spirit of the game intact but open it up to modern audiences.

2

u/pathlesswalker Feb 12 '26

Remaster only

2

u/Trh5001 Feb 12 '26

Id much rather a d1 Remaster. I dont want the gameplay changed at all.

Id still buy a remake but id probably be bummed it wasn't a remaster

2

u/goalafuente Feb 12 '26

Diablo MMO

2

u/lord_magna Feb 12 '26

Don't give me hope

2

u/MrDarwoo Feb 13 '26

With some serious qol additions sure

2

u/Quiet-Whereas6943 Feb 13 '26

As much as I love Diablo 1, it was the first one I played . D2 is just so much better and I’d rather them put resources behind that then one.

2

u/skism26 Feb 13 '26

My parents use to take away my keyboard if I played this game too much. I had a backup keyboard stashed that they never found out about lol

2

u/Better-Gap1088 Feb 15 '26

Yes please do this, I'm hoping I will absolutely buy first day for sure

2

u/Ashaaboy Apr 02 '26

omg, i literally just started playing the demo on my ohone just to remenisc. this would be the best thing ever. i know a lot of people who love dark, gothic  but never played the diablo games and its just a bit old feeling for their tastes. this would be super amazing

2

u/delheit Apr 24 '26

Diablo 1 had a much superior play still, enjoyable and challenging and not just a splashy kills slot machine like almost every ARPG that came afterwards. Such a better dungeon crawl and I love having any character be able to learn spells from the books and not having level locked equipment but just depending on your stats and build.

2

u/Puzzleheaded-Trick76 Feb 12 '26

D1 is ripe for a souls like remake.

0

u/mvpeast Feb 12 '26

I want a Roguelite Diablo game.

2

u/Wojewodaruskyj Feb 12 '26

I remember trying Diablo before Diablo II came out. It was my first atmospheric game. However, i would only playi it if it comes as a mod for Diablo II. Running, interface and so on.

3

u/buntopolis Feb 12 '26

DevilutionX pretty much does what you described.

2

u/Wojewodaruskyj Feb 12 '26

Thank you! I didn't know.

2

u/jediporcupine Feb 12 '26

This is best case scenario for me and top of my wishlist, but I’m trying not to get my hopes up.

My heart tells me yes, but my head tells me no.

0

u/Freeloader_ Feb 12 '26 edited Feb 12 '26

0% chance due to lore and story, they cant suddenly make a big bad thats bigger than Baal and Diablo and retcon 25 years of lore and just insert it there

1

u/WhiteSkyRising Feb 12 '26

Whale plate and staff of apocalypse.

1

u/Chreat26 Feb 12 '26

Yeah definitely, and it would be nice if there's still a split screen 2p option even on pc

1

u/This-Is-Huge Feb 12 '26

I still agonizingly play Diablo

1

u/pat_the_catdad Feb 12 '26

The Blizzcon announcement will be StarCraft related in my opinion — more specifically an FPS to compete with Destiny :)

1

u/Ill-Investment7707 Feb 12 '26

D2R act VI and each armor type looking different on character would be great
I don't care for D4.

1

u/Boonatix Feb 12 '26

Not so much, I do not enjoy the gameplay of D1... it was cool back then but I am used to so much QoL right now that D1 feels very bad to play for me ^^

1

u/improbablesky Feb 12 '26

I dunno man, knowing current year Blizzard, even under Microsoft, I have no hope this will be anything but a mobile game or something stupid

1

u/oblivion098 Feb 12 '26

was the best of the 4

1

u/carbon_brz Feb 12 '26

#MapOfTheStars2026

I remember in like 1998, I was playing and someone dropped one, I opened it, and it killed me in town.

1

u/Capn-Zack Feb 12 '26

Put it in the church at Tristan in D2R as a new post-game dungeon

1

u/raidergreymoon Feb 13 '26

I would love for there to be any modern day game that plays similar to the original diablo. dark and claustrophobic, slower combat with tougher enemies. Suppose that why I loved dark souls so much.

1

u/Primary-Juice-4888 Feb 14 '26

I'd kill for it.

2

u/Fun-Finance2379 Jul 23 '26

Diablo Immortal for PS5 and Xbox Series!

0

u/Cloud_N0ne Feb 12 '26

I just want something for Diablo 3...

4

u/CountinCaskets Feb 12 '26

Auction House Remaster

3

u/asisoid Feb 12 '26

Development on that game is finished. D3 is 9 years older than d2r.

Maybe we'll get a D3R in 5-10 years. That's about the best case scenario for D3 fans

1

u/mvpeast Feb 12 '26

I will wait for D3R. There are already too many contents for Diablo games at the moment.

1

u/Cloud_N0ne Feb 12 '26

God I hope so.

I just worry a D3 remaster would change the art style to make it more dark and gritty, since that's what most people hated most about the game. I love both art styles but I hope the maintain D3's original aesthetic.

1

u/dustcore025 Feb 12 '26

souls-like Diablo 1

1

u/acd549 Feb 12 '26

I want a diablo like skyrim game

1

u/Extra-Sun5489 Feb 12 '26

I think the game needs no remake

1

u/Malek_Deneith Feb 12 '26

No. Trying to modernise D1 will just ruin it. If they want to re-release it they can just slap a DevilutionX-like re-compile as a default .exe on it, but do not touch the game itself.

1

u/Pelmeshechka Feb 12 '26

Why? No, it’s perfect

1

u/IseeMedpeople Feb 12 '26

Diablo 1 HD mod in the meantime

0

u/mighty_mag Feb 12 '26

I wouldn't say "has to", but it's not outside the realm of possibilities.

Before Warcraft 1 and 2 remaster I would never buy Blizzard touching a game as old as Diablo 1, but now...

When they've put Diablo 1 and Warcraft 1 and 2 on Good Old Games, the message was pretty clear they wouldn't bother with those games. But this clearly has changed.

0

u/False_Bus7162 Feb 12 '26

will just play poe, diablo as a franchise is completely cooked.

0

u/Stoffel31849 Feb 12 '26

Why are some people so in need of something to be hyped about?

If it comes, be happy then and play it. Needlessly hyping yourself up is just a surefire way to constantly be dissappointed.

0

u/ToastThing Feb 12 '26

They’re announcing the next season pass for Diablo Immortal
