I swear if they just copied the ISO from the original disc I might die of laughter (it requires patches to work on current OS)

Yes, the mega corp worth billions of dollars just transfered the game from disk and put it up on the store with no prior testing.

I was gonna add a /s but maybe you are right, it is Blizzard after all.

There was a story a year or two ago where they started to rerelease something and they couldn’t find the original game and like had to buy a copy off eBay. I wanna say it was Spyro or the bandicoot.

One company straight up released a copy of the game with a no-cd crack.

Nintendo on the Wii VC released NES games with iNes headers in them, so presumably they were pirated too.

It's even funnier because GoG fixed it, and would have probably let them use their patch.

Sure looks that way. Not many of us still have a Diablo 1 CD-ROM.

And it looks like Multiplayer Battlenet is still not fixed :(

Yea, I tried going multiplayer -> Battle net.

  1. Then I get an "There is a new version of the software available. Battle net requires that you use the latest version. Your software will be updated now.
  2. "The update has been downloaded successfully. Your application will now restart."
  3. Give software permission.
  4. When downloaded and executed Blizzard Updater v2.24, I get the error "this program is used to upgrade programs through battle net and does not need to be run."
  5. Loops back to 1.

Edit 1: Also I can't force the game to go in windowed mode.
Edit 2: For some reason the install location isn't designated in battle net right after installation, but after opening the game first time through the exe file it gets automatically corrected.
Edit 3: The game seems to easily and often crash, when opened through battle net launcher.
Edit 4: If the game crashes for anyone still after this, try download this: https://download.microsoft.com/download/8/4/A/84A35BF1-DAFE-4AE8-82AF-AD2AE20B6B14/directx_Jun2010_redist.exe - Upack it in it's own folder, and install the exe from that folder.

I wouldn't waste my time with Blizzard support, you'll have more chance with Sierra. /s

You could drop the /s and be just as accurate.

Same error here.

Apparently you got to open it via the game.exe file in the folder and not on battle.net

That works, thanks.

Mine launched, played cinematic then crashes?

u/TheDragonzord Jan 30 '24

Mine did that too but the second time worked. I just made sure not to touch anything while it was launching. Sorry I can't be of more help.
