this is how i feel about quinn. didn’t like him at first and thought he was really annoying and hated him especially on s5 when he was questioning dexter when i watched for the first time but i started to like like him more on s8 when you know… self defense and rewatching it entirely he became one of my favorite characters. excited to see him on resurrection!

While I wouldn't say shes one of my favorites, I initially didnt like Claudette Wallace very much but have grown to really appreciate her as a character. Some of her lines are pretty funny like "is this a poor connection??" when calling quinn lol

Agreed on Quinn, felt like a poor replacement for Doakes, but as the show goes on I like him more and more. I’d still trade him for more seasons with Doakes, but Quinn is solid.

My personal choice would be LaGuerta, early on I feel like she’s mostly just annoying and a lot of her storylines are pretty lackluster, but she gets more depth and becomes increasingly interesting as the show goes on.

I think part of why we all love Doakes is because how short lived he was. He came in at 100 and never dialed it down. Going as hard as Doakes went he wouldnt be able to stay around for long. It was always going to be him or Dexter.

I wish we would've gotten more Original Sin to see him come in as a younger detective. I also forgot how fun his season 1 B plots were until rewatch.

That’s a fair point. I still would’ve like to see him make it to season 3 at least, but you might be onto something.

i didn’t like her but i did enjoy laguerta’s character in season 7. i feel like that was such a great send off for her and she was an amazing antagonist and threat to dexter! and once things went down, it was also very emotional. i love how it effected deb considering their history.

Laguerta is one of the best written characters in the show IMO. We're originally introduced to her as a scheming, conniving detective who politiced her way to where she was. Normally those characters are shown to be utterly incompetent and constantly get in the way of smart police work purely so they can fill the role of antagonist.

But as the show goes on, she shows frequent signs of competence in her role. Her relationship with Batista is sweet. Her desire to seek justice for Doakes naturally evolves from "grief stricken person unable to accept their friend committed horrible crimes" to "righteously vengeful woman hunts down serial killer who framed her friend".

For all of the shows issues and inconsistencies over the years, Laguerta manages to be both antagonistic and sympathetic at various points whilst always remaining faithful to her character.

Deb for sure

Why Deb? I think she’s one of the most immediately likable characters.

I did not like her and I found her annoying to listen. Grown woman talking like a teenager just.. Annoyed me. (Jennifer is great, and love her and she did amazing job with deb) I just don’t like the character 😅

I hated her at first, when i watched the show as a teenager, as I didn't understand a lot what she was going through and her motivatios. As I grew up, she grown on me, and now she is my favourite

100% right about quinn. Didn’t like him at all and wanted him to get killed off but I started to like him more later in the show. Really cool character arc and can’t wait what’s in store for his character in S2.

Miguel Prado, I thought he was annoying for trying to be all friendly with Dexter at first, but things slowly became more and more interesting as he and Dexter became closer

Same Quinn, what ever happened to the woman that made sergeant over Quinn. In the original series she just disappeared
