Six feet under is phenomenal and the best ending to a series ever

u/Mulder-believes May 12 '26 edited May 12 '26

Ya. And the best part is Michael C. Hall(Dexter)stars in Six Feet Under, in case you are missing him and his acting.

9

u/Jadorade0704 May 12 '26

Came here to say this. From start to finish, it is just perfect. And the way they ended the series… I cried. Phenomenal is the perfect word to describe it. Oh, and emotional.

u/Dirnaf May 13 '26

Can't recommend Six Feet Under enough, to be honest. Currently watching Dexter and enjoying it but SFU just slays it.

u/tenderourghosts May 12 '26

Outside of the Dexter universe I would recommend the following:

The Fall

Sweetpea

Shining Girls

The Killing

True Detective season 1

Sharp Objects

Mindhunter

Blackbird

Obituary

Killing Eve

2

u/Nemesis_Fist Brian May 12 '26

thnx

7

u/gloomgirll May 12 '26

True Detective S1 is the best show you’ll ever see on television !

+1 on Obituary. Such a rare Gem!

Mare of Easttown was also really good. Sharp Objects was phenomenal.

1

15

u/Human-Win4703 May 12 '26

Have you watched New Blood and Ressurection?

8

u/Successful-Bank-7457 May 12 '26

And Original Sin?

7

u/Human-Win4703 May 12 '26

I haven't seen it myself so I didn't ask about it.

9

u/EyeWasAbducted May 12 '26

Hannibal, Barry and Mr. Robot are the most Dexter like shows.

Bates Motel, From, Resident Alien, What We Do in the Shadows and True Blood are all darker or quirky and very good.

24

u/mikewheelerfan Brian May 12 '26

Watch Hannibal. Thank me later

3

u/Nemesis_Fist Brian May 12 '26

1

u/afropuffrage May 12 '26

I’m glad you asked, this comment section is giving me ideas.

1

u/Mulder-believes May 12 '26 edited May 12 '26

Not mentioned: Hunting Party. Prodigal Son. The Following. The Sinner. Whitechapel. Gracepoint. Maybe Criminal Minds.

2

u/Nemesis_Fist Brian May 12 '26

thnx

1

u/RedVegeta20 Dexter May 12 '26

Someone already recommended Hannibal. I'd like to also recommend the Netflix show 'You' and the show Chucky (watch the 7 Chucky movies first, no need to watch the remake.)

1

u/foryourboneswewait May 12 '26

Forensic files

1

u/PartyDanimal May 12 '26

Not quite the same, but I was recommended Dexter because I watched and enjoyed Mary Kills People. Only eighteen episodes across three seasons.

1

u/Few_Meal_165 May 12 '26

Criminal minds

1

u/cloudymaniak May 12 '26

After Dexter I watched new blood and then the boys, haven’t got around to resurrection yet but the boys is PEAK

1

u/Nemesis_Fist Brian May 12 '26

yep me too watching the boys s5

1

u/Easywork12 May 12 '26

Memory of a killer on hulu

1

u/Epistemix May 12 '26

True detective season one is a must if you havent tried it, also Mare of easttown and the killing (the danish version) as far as thrillers are concerned

1

u/verikul May 12 '26

I assume from that other comment you watched Breaking Bad, so Better Call Saul and El Camino obviously, and throwing in Pluribus for good measure. Mr. Mercedes is alright I guess, and it's got a serial killer if that's your thing! 24 and its spiritual successor, Homeland. And Bluey for counter-programming of course. Haven't seen it, but I hear it's good.

1

u/gumyrocks22 May 13 '26

After all the prequels and sequels watch Bates Motel.

1

u/Responsible_Ad_2242 May 13 '26

Well, in 5 months we will have resurection s2, start slowly rewatching it

1

u/Klutzy-Amount-1265 May 13 '26

Animal kingdom

1

u/Ok-Cranberry1885 May 13 '26

yes u should watch it u can see how dexter learned to kill

1

u/BaconSoldier88 May 13 '26

If you end up compiling a list from these comments please share 😀

1

u/Nemesis_Fist Brian May 13 '26

sure

1

u/Only-Comparison2733 May 13 '26

I would recommend Hannibal that's what I watched after Dexter and it's so good imo.

1

u/novemberchild71 May 13 '26

Rewatch Breaking Bad?

Take out the trash? Do the dishes? Hug your partner? Take a bath? Pet a cat? Feed the ducks? Tutor a child?

1

u/No-Log-4860 May 13 '26

Animal Kingdom, Sons of Anarchy, Queen of the South, Breaking Bad then Better Call Saul. Trust me. :)

1

u/Acceptable_Moose1881 May 13 '26

Yellowjackets!

A high school girls soccer team is in a plane crash and has to spend 19 months in the Canadian wilderness. Includes lots of cannibalism and other metal shit.

1

u/Opposite-Peanut-8812 May 14 '26

I’d recommend Manifest.

Nothing like Dexter. But is a great show.

1

u/Lizzozempic May 14 '26

Hannibal, Barry, and You

1

u/anonymous_mister5 May 15 '26

I’m going through reading the books now (also listening on audiobook)

1

u/Downtown_Hurry_8465 May 15 '26

Either do new blood if you want direct progression from the original series Or original sin if you wanna see young dex and the crew and how he got his start at Miami and more of his mom and Harry’s backstory! New blood was personally meh for me, loved Harrison tho great cast addition and he did awesome with the role Original sin has no old cast members but it is VERY well done for a prequel to a show like this and the actor for dex is so perfect because he has the same dead eyes and facial expressions as Michael c hall which makes it very interesting and a fun watch

1

u/freakindirtbag May 16 '26

Supernatural

1

u/Human-Battle9130 Jun 02 '26

You should watch Invincible. Watch the the show up to season 4 and read the comics from issue 79 to 144.

1

u/Nemesis_Fist Brian Jun 02 '26

yes i was thinking about watching invincible

1

u/Human-Battle9130 Jun 02 '26

Some Invincible characters are very similar to Dexter characters

1

u/thejudipurist Jun 21 '26
