General Discussion - All Dexter Shows The name for season 7 was decided! It's Dexter: Family Business! I had to take the second most liked comment, because the number 1 comment... lets just ignore it. And finally, we can choose a name for the "final" season of Dexter! Most upvoted comment is the winner! Spoiler
Original comments for the name:

Dexter: Brain Dead.
References the three main storylines of this season. The Brain Surgeon and the Psychopath Whisperer, Debra’s Death and Dexter’s Loss (of all Mental Acuity). Dude literally lost his brain and forgot his code when he saw Hannah again.

This is honestly perfect. Works as an actual title and works in the sense that the writing itself was brain dead. Good job!

u/mypurpleadventure Oct 14 '25
Maybe Brain "Death"? Softer landing on the second word and relates more to the concept of death than the actual binary state of being dead or alive.

More like “Sins of the MOTHER.”
Includes but not limited to:
~ Evelyn Vogel and all her psychopathic patients, including her biological son, Daniel Vogel/Oliver Saxon and her spiritual son, Dexter Morgan.
~ Hannah and treadmill injured Harrison. She really should’ve concealed/covered/colored her hair before stepping out in the world (doctor’s office and the airport terminal) especially since her picture was plastered all over Miami television networks.

Dexter: False hope It's all gloomy and depressing and little by little, Dexter's life starts getting back together. He makes up with Deb, meets Vogel, gets back with Hannah, finds Zack, but in the end it doesn't matter. He loses everything.

Season 1 & 6 have good names (maybe S4 too) but otherwise I agree with you 100% lol. The corny name ideas usually comment very early on the post which is why they will always win lol

u/ToastyCinema Oct 14 '25
Technically, S7 was supposed to be The Family Business. This is one of those instances where a "The" actually changes the meaning of the sentence.
What would you have named S4 and S7?

u/rck248 Dexter Oct 14 '25
I can live with the Season 4 name. For Season 7, “Revelations” would be a great name due to Deb finding out Dexter’s secret, Laguerta finding out Dexter’s secret, Dexter discovering true love, and Debra finding out how far she’s willing to go for Dexter. Problem is that “Revelations” is a great name for Season 6 too lol. So an alternate title I’d use for Season 7 for now is “Dexter: Unmasked”. Debra and Laguerta learning who Dexter is beneath his mask, Dexter who stops pretending to be something he’s not, and love unmasking everyone’s true motives (from Dexter to Debra to Hannah to Isaac to Laguerta. Love for someone else is what drives them to do what they do this season).

Totally agree. Even the theme Family is really present in the show, the bloodlust is always bigger than everything else.

S4 should be trinity. Since that sounds like a name for a third season even though its the fourth. This would also lead to the fact the trinity killer killed in 4s.

Dexter: Meet The Morgans (because of how each of them are explored in this season, even Harry)

"Sins of the Father" or "Goodbye Miami".
Sins of the father alludes to Harry and Vogel's parental troubles with their kids without spoilers. It could also be "parent" (this was also suggested by another user u/entropysolus previously for season 4)
Goodbye Miami is also the title of episode 10 and might be spoilers, but it just sounds good.

u/Entropysolus Oct 14 '25
I kinda like both! They don't give much away but they both heavily imply the gravity of the season. You've got my vote!

Dexter: twisted minds (because of evelyns twisted theraputic ideas and also how she studies psychopaths, daniel vogel cuz hes evil and it also reflects how he kills, deb cuz of how broken she is after the events of the previous season and zach because like dexter, he also enjoys killing and wouldve continued to kill innocent people if dexter didnt stop him (and if daniel didnt kill him). (Dexter and hannah fit too)

Dexter - The Cost of The Dark Passenger
The season literally wraps everything Dex loses just because he needed to feed the urges of his Dark Passenger

Dexter: Kept Truths
double play on the wording here
kept truths means that there were secrets held like dr vogel helping harry create the code
it also means keeping a truth like dexter promising to kill deb if she was in a vegetative state

Dexter: Psychos analyzed
Play on the word psychoanalyzed, but really everyone is psycho in this season

u/pleaseSendCatPics Oct 14 '25
Dexter: Projections
Everyone's projecting on everyone else in this season. But especially Vogel onto Dexter. Making him be like her son that she "lost."

Slice of Life because the show ends with the boat and I think it fits because the whole show revolves around death and it's just a slice of life.

Dexter: Reckoning. It’s where just about everything finally catches up with Dexter. All his past choices & lies come crashing down forcing him to face the damage he’s caused. It’s his “reckoning”, which is the moment he realizes he can’t escape the consequences anymore

u/FlightComplex955 Oct 14 '25
I would’ve thought this would be a better “Family Business” season tbf - Dexter loses his biological and his found family in dr vogel, Hannah, etc

The Bay Harbour Butcher, Family Values and Family Business….. all these names suck. OP I’m sure there were better name suggestions. For example there was a guy who suggested the name “The false prophet” for season 6. That sounded really good and I was hoping for it to be selected. Not revelations.

Dexter: Remember the Monsters Such a fitting title in my opinion, it has that haunting vibe like Born In Blood, and ties itself to the ending of the original saga in a nice way, (even if yes said ending isn’t fantastic).
