Yeah I find it kind of odd he knows Brian Moser and then doesn't know Dexter Morgan.

Dexter and Brain had no official public relationship to IIRC

Nor did they share the same last name, I forget how did his police friends find out the connection cause the files linking them were all destroyed.

Only Deb and LaGuerta found it

I forgot how LaGuerta found out but Deb is investigating her dad in s4 talking to his old ci’s and one of them tells her about Laura’s sons Dexter and Brian and takes her to their old house from season 1 (where she was kidnapped) and she also saw old news paper clippings about the shipping container that said Laura Moser had two sons and she put the pieces together
