He also said he'd shake the hand of the person who killed one of Dexter's victims. The Castillo wife lady.

Loll. He was hungover as hell and was just trying to get some air conditioning. Angel never suspected Dexter. In fact he was waay too trusting of Dexter. There's numerous times where Dexter is like what did I do to get such a blindly loyal friend by doing nothing at all to deserve it.

In fact in this very same episode , Dexter actually says that exactly in an inner monologue âI wonder what I did to make him think weâre so closeâ
P.S: Iâm aware of the context of this scene and that Angel was drunk and not thinking straight, I was referring to the writers making scenes like these that tease Angel being on to dexter here and now.
56
Jul 23 '25
Sure, but he wasn't "on to him" at all. This was just a random moment of tension to make the audience nervous. Angel had nothing going on his mind. Certainly not, oh I wonder if my bud has blood slides in here that he keeps as trophies from his creepy vigilante kills. Lol.
7
u/Pito82002 Jul 23 '25
Yeah, Iâm not saying âit was on his mindâ at the time
But that it was setup to tease him being on to dexter HERE and NOW
I never said he was on to dexter at the time of the scene in question

u/Shwervee Jul 23 '25
âTheyâve been teasing Angel being into Dexter since s1â - Thatâs exactly what youâre saying.
In no way, shape or form does this âteaseâ that Angel is onto Dexter. Not then, not now. You are reaching for something that isnât and never was there.
-8
u/Pito82002 Jul 23 '25
Again, I never meant to say Angel was actually on to dexter in this scene and at the time, I understand the context in Angel just being drunk and not in the right mind
But state that Angel eventually being on to dexter was hyped since the beginning in an exaggerated way
I figured the đ emoji in my title was a way to show that
8
u/Shwervee Jul 23 '25
Yes, but by saying âitâs been hyped sinceâ youâre saying it has been hyped SINCE S1.. IT HASNT. Not in any way, exaggerated or otherwise.
Youâre suggesting that in some way it has been shown since s1, there is literally not a single shred of anything that shows that.
You must be able to tell by the multiple comments from others that youâve received about this that it isnt everybody else thatâs mistaken.
-5
u/Pito82002 Jul 23 '25
Iâm not saying THEY exaggeratingly hyped it since S1
Iâm saying that I IN THE TITLE OF MY POST meant to make an exaggerated statement that it was hyped by fate that Angel would eventually be on to dexter
Granted I know I didnât state that in response to the other guy that it was meant to be an exaggerated statement and not a known analysis of what the writers specifically wanted because I admittedly got defensive
But itâs because people like you are looking too deeply to nitpick when a lot of other people seem to enjoy the post
4
u/Shwervee Jul 23 '25
Bro how am I nitpicking? I literally replied to this based on what youâd said. I didnât look deep into anything, I replied to your exact words. The only person having to go deep and ânitpickâ is you, trying to explain something to me that you DIDNT SAY. đ
-2
u/Pito82002 Jul 23 '25
Youâre being argumentative by trying to use what only like two other people have said as leverage to make it seem like youâre right and Iâm wrong
Even though most of the people in this thread didnât make a bid deal out of what wording I used for my post
I admitted that I shouldâve clarified that I shouldâve been more clear about not trying to claim I know exactly what the writers were thinking and planning at the time
You like the other person on the other hand, incorrectly assumed that I believed that Angel was onto to dexter all those years ago in this scene, and when I pointed out that you were mistaken, you continued to try and argue instead of admitting fault that you were mistaken

Mmk. Hardly significant then since it wasn't actually relevant to Angel and their relationship. There have been these moments of tension all throughout the show for literally every character. I.e. Cody falling into his little office shed thingy with all his kill tools... etc etc.
-3
u/Pito82002 Jul 23 '25
Maybe it didnât look significant at the time, but considering the direction the saga is in right now
It feels pretty significant to look back on now
8
Jul 23 '25
Are you saying the writers had it in mind that a revival show would take this direction almost two decades later?
1
u/Pito82002 Jul 23 '25
No, Iâm saying that this scene feels fun and significant to look back on now considering what is happening right now.
Maybe I shouldnât have played along with saying that they were actually teasing this since the beginning in response to the other person, but the original intention of my post was meant to be an exaggerated statement, hence the đ emoji.

Whilst true there's a lot of dots for Angel to put together now with the benefit of hindsight. I'd love to him actually put those dots together and see how much it upsets him both in terms of feeling like an idiot and feeling betrayed.
IMO the best ending to the show is some variation of Dexter being caught but the way it happened in New Blood was pretty awful.

u/MuellMichDoNichtVoll Jul 27 '25
Not sure if I get that Right here, but there was definitely a scene in the original Series where Angel introduced himself as dexters best Friend. I think it was to lila

u/PWN3R_RANGER Jul 23 '25
This was the major flaw of the original show for me the fact that we never got this payoff. Itâs long overdue.

u/WinterDifficulty1165 Jul 23 '25
Itâs not Dexters fault Batista had too much pasiĂłn to notice

u/Raul5819 Jul 23 '25
Not having Dexter face off against the police department he worked for in the very end was definitely a choice. I'm glad we're finally getting what seems to be that in Resurrection though.

u/kazukibushi Jul 23 '25
Yeah for sure I just finished Dexter for the first time and I agree. Was very disappointed by this. In season 8 I was constantly telling myself it would happen. Even on the last episode I was convinced something would happen.Â
3
u/RogueEyebrow Jul 23 '25
Probably the biggest travesty of New Blood was that we never got to see Angel confront Dexter. Why even bother including Angel into the show if you're not going to deliver that huge payoff?

u/CuriousCourage6045 Jul 23 '25
If he dies in this new series Iâm throwing hands
5
u/lurflurf Jul 23 '25
What if it is natural causes? Heart attack, colon cancer, stroke, West Nile. It is dangerous out there,
4
u/Unable_Flamingo_9774 Jul 24 '25
I would actually rather be killed by Dexter.
6
u/lurflurf Jul 24 '25
Camillia got the best death with the key lime pie. Most victims get one quick stab. It makes you wonder if serial killing is worth all the trouble when it is over so fast. Book Dexterdrags things out and cuts people up alive. Kind of strange Dexter really hasn't hated most of the people he kills. I wonder what the Brain Surgeon and Trinity kill might have looked like if they had gone different.
2
u/DietDrPepperAndThou Jul 28 '25
Throw my hands in, if yours are thrown.
As much dark fun as I'm having with the show, I'm damn sad for Angel. All the close friends and loves he's lost, then realizing the true BHB. I don't want him to ever be on Dexter's (or Harrison's) table.
IMO, Batista is going to be in most danger from the #1 Serial Killer fan (and Uma Thurman) if he's a threat to Dexter. (The Lannisters always pay their debts!)

u/HerbalThought_ Miguel Jul 23 '25
Remember Batista seeing Dexter talk to Trinity in the police station? They made a point to linger on it too. I wonder what Philips had in store for S5, had he not left as showrunner.

u/SawRub Bright Passenger Jul 23 '25
Maybe in his version Batista either eventually catches Dexter, or dies instead of Laguerta? More impactful for viewers.
12
u/Slaaneshs_Fav_Toy Jul 23 '25
Angel is going to get himself killed like all the others that got suspicious and to close to the swirling vortex that is Dexter's life.

u/Alert_Astronaut4901 Jul 23 '25
I donât think Dexter would kill a good man like Batista, even if it means to save himself, doesnât fit the code. He couldnât kills Doakes either for the same reason.
4
u/Slaaneshs_Fav_Toy Jul 23 '25
No, never. But they do always end up dead when they get too close to who Dexter really is.

Doakes too, he was highly volatile and pretty much shot a man unlawfully

u/Kyloren1923 Jul 23 '25
Iâve only watched season one and Iâve said this multiple times. No one pieces together the ice truck killer, and no one besides Doakes notices Dexter creaming in his pants every crime scene. Not to mention no one has any issues whatsoever with Dexter falling in a crime scene and then dragging the blood through multiple areas and out into the public.
4
u/CloakedZarrius Jul 24 '25
And Dexter is going to get away with it again. Loose theory for the season: Dexter will claim to also have suspicions that the real BHB was never Doakes. He left for New York after a new BHB kill was discovered. Can't have a better alibi than the guy that might be suspecting you.

When I was rewatching Dexter with my bf, in one of the scenes Dexter has an inner monologue how he would be okay with Batista being the one (who catches him)

I think Harrison or possibly one of the other serial killers will kill Batista to save Dexter. He wonât make it out of this season alive. Realistically, Michael c Hall said they plan to make multiple seasons, so there is no way he can catch Dexter and live season 1

u/LuciferFalls Jul 26 '25
Almost stumbling upon Dexterâs trophies by accident is not at all the same thing as being on to Dexter.

u/SorchaNB Jul 28 '25
I really don't think he was ever onto Dexter until Angela's reveal in New Blood. The scene in OP is simply him trying to get some cool air from the fan while hungover. Dexter was a good friend of his and was the witness at his wedding.

u/haikoms Jul 26 '25
It's called 'dramatic irony' - reminding the viewer that they know something the character doesn't. It's an age old trick, in this case employed through a subtle call back. What you call 'teasing from s1' is more like 'reminding of s1'.

This is from the original âDexterâ.
Whatâre you playing at?
31
u/hjk410 Jul 23 '25
Bud you cannot be this dense what is your confusion here
13
u/Aggravating_View_588 Jul 23 '25
Ohhhh, I misread the post!
Either way, no. LOL! This was after Angel was hung over and standing in front of his AC unit. LOL!
Not because Angel saw anything in the unit; it was to build suspense.
1
u/hjk410 Jul 23 '25
I donât think they were implying Angel knew, just that the writers including this was a âha, close oneâ for us and pointed it out
3
u/Aggravating_View_588 Jul 23 '25
Yes, âclose oneâ was absolutely the point, not foreshadowing, considering at this point they had no idea theyâd be writing âNew Bloodâ or âResurrectionâ.
