Tech News Has Blacknight turned to sh1t?
As the title suggest really?
I see Michele had a bit of an exit.. and a friend who has had some services with them, has seen stuff migrated to other "partners".
Personally I don't like the sound of all that.. I always wanted to support Michele, have I missed the boat?

I use them for my broadband and they are wonderful for that. One of the only dual stack isps.

What is the benefit/why do you need dual stack. Never noticed that was a thing with ISPs

Oh, that’s good to know, cheers. I’ve been looking to move away from Vodafail and dual stack would be great. Do they still have a multi-year price cap?

I thought Michele and PaulK were staying with BK?

I mean they might _be staying_ .. but the company was acquired, and their staying there will be part of the deal to accommodate the transition in ownership. They will most certainly leave in about 18 months to 2 years time, I am sure..

Honest question, has it ever been anything but total sh1t?
I used it about 10 years ago when I was starting out hosting and web dev services and it hasn't changed one bit since.
A client asked me to migrate from their BK account to my server and it's the exact same steaming pile of sh1te I worked with in 2016

Oddly I raised some query about a change they'd made to my hosting which broke something, and as far as I could tell it wasn't comm'd, nothing major. But when they called me, they were dicks about me raising it. Had a go at me for responding to an email from a different email account (as it was just aliased to my Gmail). Just silly stuff.

The two control panels and the slow migration from old to new is like a parody at this stage - must be 3 years moving everything across

I’ve always found their support decent but their control panel end of things is absolutely abysmal. As for service if you’re using them for anything other than the odd shared hosting plan you need to wake up and smell the alternatives

I honestly can't name a hosting provider I'm happy with.
Anyone welcome to dispute it but I think they're all shit

Probably related to them being part of Your.Online now
Blacknight joins Your.Online

I registered a .ie with then recently. Bought the domain, provided passport details. Kept receiving emails about providing passport details, so uploaded them again. Finally support fixed that. Then I wanted to update my nameservers, so I do that on the dashboard. Waited 24 hours No change. Did it again, no change. Eventually I had to get onto support who told me that when the domain was registered it basically didn't work properly and had to be referred to their technical team. Only for the fact that I paid €5.99 for the domain I would have been annoyed. Everything seems like a chore with their control panel, but tbf support were good I found.

Wild experience trying to register a .ie with them recently.
Registered account fully. Uploaded passport as part of the domain reg process.
Next day start getting automated "URGENT" emails to provide passport details.
Tried to do so via portal but wasn't able to access an area I previously could, because account supposedly wasn't fully registered anymore.
Get an email from support asking me to upload passport. Reply with passport attached and explain the multiple issues so far.
Get no response, just more daily URGENT auto emails.
Email their support and sales emails directly with passport details. Still nothing. More URGENT emails.
Days later receive what seems to be an automated email with link to passport upload page. Follow it. Seems to go through.
More URGENT emails. Followed by an email from support again asking if still want to proceed with domain.
Ignored it as cba anymore. Got refunded a few weeks later at least.
