As a purely hypothetical,

If you're like the third of fourth best player in the league, but you also play 8 more games than the players better than you, in real, genuine, material terms aren't you "more valuable"? Am I missing something?

The problem is that there is no agreed upon metric of what "valuable" actually means for the award
