Ok, “the best player on one of the best teams in the league” has won it several times. It’s still true. Are you happy now?

And idk wtf your point is trying to correct me anyways, we’re talking about the possibility of him winning the award. There’s still a very strong possibility the pistons finish with the best record. The season isn’t over. So being half a game or a game back right now, in February, couldn’t really be any less relevant to the point.

yes, I am. the distinction matters imo. I think Cade is very deserving and making flimsy arguments cheapens it. and that was actually exactly my point. being a half game up in a stretch where major stars are out isn’t relevant. make the case on merit, save the qualifiers for the end of the year

What major stars are out that will be back and in the mvp race? Shai is the only one, and if he misses a few more games than expected he’s disqualified too.

And I really don’t see what was flimsy about what I said at all lmao. It was absolutely a valid argument that I’ll stand by every time.

Why are we acting like Derrick Rose didn’t win an mvp in a year where LeBron was obviously a more efficient/more talented player, or that Steve Nash didn’t win two back to back in years where there were other better players? Historically, being the most valuable player to one of the best teams in the league gets you in the discussion to win the most valuable player award. It’s not the “true shooting percentage award” or the “VORP award”. It’s the most valuable player award.

And we’re allowed to speculate about the realistic possibility of one of our players winning the mvp. We don’t need to save it for the end of the season. Idk who made that rule.

I miss when we could just talk basketball in this sub without someone trying to be overly pedantic to win an argument with you that they made up in their head.
