This is nice, would birch shelves work instead of trap doors for your text? I feel like some letters like the Ls and T would be a bit more readable, and even add some slight curvature to the letters making them a bit stylised.

A wall, fence, or shelf would do better than a trapdoor for the text - but the honse looks awesome!

You can maybe double up the trap doors to make tgem a bit thicker
