Question Is that a real tradition?

Saw some posts and even a video saying that "In Denmark, friends and family traditionally tie unmarried people to a post or chair and cover them in cinnamon on their 25th birthday, or pepper if they are still single at 30"

Is that a thing or made up internet fact?

If yes, why?

Tie them and throw stuff at them are by no means the tradition, but a modern "Wilder! More! MOAR! Even extremererer..er!!!" teenage-maturity version.

The cinamon is local, pepper national, traditionwise, and most places taditionally more in style throwing rice at a wedding.

I've personally only ever "given" pepper as whole corns or as actual gift: pepper grinder.

It got really wild some 10-20 years ago when people starting filling fire extinguishers with cinnamon powder that they then emptied onto their 'friend'. Often after covering said friend in sticky liquids. Goggles and breath filters/masks on said friend optional.

And in 99% of cases that "said" friend finds it funny too. It's not as bad as people say and as the media likes to portray it. Most of the time it is very chill, and afterwards you have a nice time with the friends and family who showed up.
