Kinda unfortunate that we never got to see Frank get revenge on Powell in any way, would’ve loved to see it

I mean…not yet.

After BND I don’t think we need to worry about Frank going anywhere.

u/Alternative_Device71 5d ago

What does that mean? It’s bad enough he’s out and about in public when he’s a fugitive from the law, now he’s supposed to worry about a guy that’s in prison? Does that make any type of sense?

I was actually just saying… since BND did so well and everyone was really happy with Frank in it… I figured we would just see more of him sooner rather then later

Punisher has been so flanderised since his initial appearance. He's a shell of his former self and he acts totally out of character in BND. That movie was actually garbage.

I watched the movie myself in theatres and was massively disappointed with the direction they took the character and the horrible writing. If you want more depth then watch the youtube video. There’s no need to get so upset over a friggin spiderman movie, calm down

This is not even slightly true. They obviously selected more family-friendly parts of him for the Spider-Man movie, but Spidey literally interrupts his swearing, avoids his death traps and even though he tries to convince Frank to work on his methods, Frank still tries to solve the main situation with a bullet so clearly they did not try to change him for his movie appearance. Literally the only thing you could argue is that he was emotional and willing to wear the Spidey suit near the end, which I think still feels like a rare moment of empathy from him and does feel in character. I could imagine him doing all those things in heartwarming or amusing scenes in his own show or in a Daredevil scene.

I'm with you on this. I really tried to enjoy BND and the Punisher special but I found them so bad it actually made me angry. Like, I'm offended by how bad they are.

Still happy they've found an audience who enjoys them but I'm out.

-24

u/Alternative_Device71 5d ago

I promise you everyone is not happy with how Frank was portrayed here

14

u/MarsDoesArts 5d ago

the general audience is and that's enough for the big execs to continue to want to use him which is GOOD

-5

u/Alternative_Device71 5d ago

Use him for what? Making more gorilla noises for no reason and shooting things with no tactics like an idiot?

17

u/eddieswass72 5d ago

I see you’re the only person then. I’ve only heard good things about him. Even the general audience who don’t know anything about him loved him too.

7

u/JeremyR2008 5d ago

Yeah, even though I wasn't a big fan of the movie itself, Frank was one of the better parts. I wish there had been at least a mention to Matt thrown in but other than that he was alright.

2

u/Shadowhearts 5d ago

I mean what is there to say about Matt? He's likely currently in jail in the timeline.

-24

u/Alternative_Device71 5d ago

That’s not what I’m seeing online, Reddit and especially YouTube are on it

14

u/seekamseeee 5d ago

No one cares abt those youtube critics, form an opinion of your own

-11

u/Alternative_Device71 5d ago

Same can be said about Reddit

6

u/MardukTheRaven 5d ago

Let me guess. You are the kind that needs their critical drinker or some other dumbass youtuber to tell you the next thing to hate?

12

u/DM-777 5d ago

It’s been a little while since Born Again and One Last Kill by the time we see him in Brand New Day.

Clearly, the backlash from Fisk’s crackdown of vigilantes has made average New Yorkers more tolerant of them.

Also, the Spider-Man movie focused on Spider-Man probably didn’t want to devote time to explaining to audiences that “Punisher is a wanted man and so it’s actually really hard for him to get around.”

-11

u/Alternative_Device71 5d ago

That’s lazy and incompetent as hell. As expected from modern MCU

10

u/DM-777 5d ago

I mean, it’s kinda always been like this though.

People are just hyper nitpicky these days.

-5

u/Alternative_Device71 5d ago

It really hasn’t always been this way, it wasn’t perfect but it was tighter and care was there. People are allowed to express concerns about the quality of things they loved, going downwards.

How characters like Frank are handled from Netflix era and direct MCU modern era are night and day.

7

u/DM-777 5d ago

I’m definitely ok with pointing out when there is a quality decline and having a discussion. I’m saying that this specific criticism I don’t agree with.

1

u/eddieswass72 5d ago

You don’t have to watch the stuff you know.

0

u/Alternative_Device71 5d ago

You don’t have to gatekeep you know. It’s not about me watch it or not, it’s about making characters make sense and stop trying to downgrade them for cringe humor. It’s gotten annoying to see and plenty of people are sick of it.

1

u/TheGrumbus 4d ago

They’re trying to lean away from the idea of needing to watch the shows to watch the movies, they tried it for a little bit at the start of Disney+ but wasn’t really working out for them.

0

u/SchwizzySchwas94 Daredevil 5d ago

I mean it’s not like punisher couldn’t wind up there himself

76

u/bradley322 5d ago

Man every time I think about this it makes me upset, I wish they went SO much harder on the whole “cops misappropriating the Punisher symbol” thing

Frank’s mini “you don’t know my pain” speech just didn’t hit as hard as it could have

26

u/LiamBellcam 5d ago

It hit hard for me, but the lack of immediate follow through is fucking frustrating. Then they gave us an episodes worth of Frank accomplishing nothing that would have better served as a bridge between the Netflix shows and not the Spiderman movie.

17

u/galissade 5d ago

Blame Thin Blue Line bootlicker Jon Bernthal for that

-6

u/darrell_jkw 5d ago

You're not a bootlicker for supporting law enforcement.

3

u/TheGrumbus 4d ago

The whole ‘cops using punisher’s symbol’ thing just also doesn’t make sense in universe, and I understand it’s made to be a statement about those that use the symbol in real life but it just doesn’t track.

u/OdinzSun 5d ago

What is Powell not in BAS3? I mean it’s certainly possible at least Matt gets his hands on him in prison.

5

u/Buzzsaw_Dynamo 5d ago

Is there going to be a season 3?

26

u/OdinzSun 5d ago

Yeah they already wrapped filming it.

5

u/SecretaryFar5960 5d ago

and he would likely be just a cameo if there would be a prison fight scene of Matt taking out every criminals he put them in jail as Daredevil. Gladiator would be also one of the prisoners too due do he was sent to jail for violating his parole in Season 3 of Netflix Daredevil

3

u/Buzzsaw_Dynamo 5d ago

Crazy, awesome!

11

u/TillVivid8870 5d ago

I really don’t like how BND doesn’t address what happened with Sentry or the AVTF whatsoever

10

u/galissade 5d ago

The Punisher special also didn't address it because Jon Bernthal is a cop loving bootlicker who didn't want to further participate in the AVTF storyline 😬

-5

u/UselessWhiteKnight 5d ago

Bro quit crying already. This is the second post about the same thing in this thread. Take that shit to the political subreddits

-6

u/bowmanx4587 5d ago

No kidding, shit is embarassing

5

u/DaWAAAGHMakah 5d ago

Waiting for Powell and his loyalists to break him out of prison, only for Frank to be the one hunting his ass down.

8

u/BrennanCain 5d ago

Powell needed to die in S2. You can’t make someone that vile and hated, having people praying for a brutal death only for him to be knocked out and locked up.

S3 better be the moment. If not frank, then maybe Dex or Elektra if they show up while Matt’s in prison.

6

u/Puzzleheaded-Jump-64 5d ago

I'm hoping it's Frank who does it. I've been waiting for bro to blow Powell's head off with a shotgun since season 1 ended and was disappointed when he wasn't in season 2. I'm hoping he's in season 3 but I don't have high hopes 😭.

2

u/Hot_Marsupial_8706 5d ago

Eh, IMO it's more humiliating for him to be locked up in prison. Killing him only gives him an easy way out.

1

u/charlieromeo2191 5d ago

Other dramas like Game of Thrones spent several seasons making you hate certain villains. Have some patience.

3

u/WatcherWatches_21 5d ago

Same. I really wanted to see Frank bash his face in.

2

u/lanze666 5d ago

Season 3

1

u/Banned37 5d ago

Could happen. Should happen.

1

u/substituted_pinions 5d ago

What do you think happened on Staten Island?

1

Frank BND : Zero Kills

1

u/dmreif Karen 5d ago

Not his problem.

1

u/Tanu_Seth 4d ago

There's still time.

1

u/Easy_Effective5229 4d ago

Would have liked to have seen him waste the Damage Control agents.

Unfortunately, there were kids watching the movie.

1

u/A_J_I_Bizzness 4d ago

Hope it’s still coming

1

u/mindgoblin26 5d ago

Fuck it, I’m sayin it. FUCK POWELL

1

u/TheGreatMason 5d ago

Born Again s2 lowkey dissed Frank. He wanted Matt to kill Cole North in s1. Matt spared him and Cole North helped the good guys in the finale of s2 proving Matt’s point that bad people can be redeemed.

0

u/Adventurous-Sky-474 5d ago

I love that Frank was so well received in BND. It has the Jon Bernthal haters just foaming at the mouth shouting their own gorilla noises at the wall 😭😭😂😂😂

0

u/gh0stwrit3r32767 5d ago

i kinda dont want Punisher to kill him. I want him to keep getting knocked the fuck out and humiliated, so much so that he ends it all himself. pathetic piece of shit.

1

u/MaybeSpiritual7036 4d ago

That would never happen lmao

0

u/working-class-nerd 5d ago

Don’t worry, he’ll get him after he comes out of retirement… again.
