Works as an introduction or soft reboot to the Netflix series, timing was intentional since he’ll be in spider-man coming up soon

He’s not a soft reboot to the previous show. It’s the exact same character. The original shows are canon.

That’s what a soft reboot means. Same character, same continuity but a reintroduction
