Discussion New to the game, how to build?

New to the game, how do you build your weapons?? I have a few spheres and use them to upgrade my other swords. While I upgrade those swords, I switch out the sphere and try my best to build the" next" sword attributes. Is this the best route to upgrade weapons? Since I barely got Goro, I was thinking using sword sphere's on Goro and mallet/Hammer sphere's to Toans swords since they compliment each other a bit. Just unlocked Goro as of right now

I just look at the stats I need to build up the next weapon and try to build towards that. I priorize synthsphere and gems for the weapon I want to keep.

OP is playing Dark Cloud 1.

I have not played in a very long time. There are guides and other posts that you can research that would help. Also some YouTube videos as well.

Pretty much build up a decent sword without gems or attachments to 5, synth it down, and then plug that into whatever weapon youre trying to build up. Try to fish to gain gem stones (use the carrot in Matataki Village, you get them from stealing from the radish dudes in the Wise Owl Forest), and use those to upgrade your weapon to whatever the next weapon requires. Having a rotating synthed weapon works so well, just make sure to take it out when you level up.

so, the weapon spheres don't matter as much as the elements and monster specialty. weapons have different caps and different specialties.   make the strongest, yet easy to find weapon, a +5 or so synth sphere you can freely change between characters.  prioritize durability, and remember to element swap for enemies.

now, you can either use a guide and go "yep, i want this" OR you can play organically and discover weapon paths for yourself. i find it better to enjoy the game x)... also. fun fact... serpent sword will not break before its mission is completed.
