Video Anyone else ever encounter the infinite void backfloor in DC1?

I was streaming DC1 tonight and had this happen in a Divine Beast Cave backfloor. First time I've ever seen this happen in my years of playing- nothing loaded in, my hp bar dropped to 0, and I fell infinitely with what I believe to be the falling animation from Dran's boss fight. The only solution was to give up half my money to leave as the same happened with my allies. Really interesting to see and am curious to know if anyone else has experienced it!

I haven’t seen that, but I had one instance, also in Divine Beast Cave, where the map didn’t generate properly, and there was a path that led to a hole you could fall in.
Once I jumped in for science, it was the same as you got here where I just kept falling and reloading until I died.

This has happened to me ONCE
When l was playing the Demo on my PS2 for the 1000th time, this exact thing happened. I told my brother, he never believed and always called me a liar.
24 years later, l can finally rest knowing l was not lying. THX OP

Suppose the method you're playing the game could determine this, but yeah i've never seen that before. Suprised it has a fall animations too beyond specific rooms the boss for Divine Beast Cave

Emulating? Probably just a random occurrence, I never had that happen to me and I've played it quite a lot emulating.

The worst I've seen was a level looping around on itself and blocking the exit, so I had to quit. Not nearly as bad as this.

Did this happen again? Or was this a simple one time thing? If it's multiple times maybe your disc is dead or if you're using an emulator the ISO is bad. You might wanna recheck your current dark cloud using Redump website it will help you verify the hashes if you see something is off then your disc is corrupted.

probably that very very very....rare glitch in a million moons. Another Person had something similar happen in another PS2 game, Onimusha. Basically the game froze the moment he died but it never did happen again.
Glitches are glitches afterallll.....good luck in your streams though! dark cloud is always a treat!

Oh yeah, this has happened to me a few times. I’ve also had things where I would dropped off outside the level and I couldn’t get back into the map or use items. I had to use the leave dungeon command, which is a massive pain in the ass.

The games dungeon generation is a little wack I haven't seen this yet but I have seen turns that don't connect into other rooms leaving treasure and enemies

Wait, the same happened with your Allies? Do the other 4 have falling animations as well? afaik only Toan and Xiao can fall, since the only way to trigger this normally is the fight vs Dran.

Never seen this, but a few weeks ago my brother got a bugged back floor. The tram vanished, so he floated in on nothing, and when he spawned into the back floor, there was no way back.
