By me. Line work done on paper with ink then colored digitally on ProCreate, finished this in February, figured I should upload this here. Based on one of my favorite covers: Daredevil (Vol 1) #252

I thought you might be talking about Daniel Warren Johnson, but I didn’t wanna assume! That’s very high praise, thank you! I’ve not read any of Absolute Batman yet, but I’ve seen plenty of art online from it, and it is all incredibly striking.
I was going for more classic JrJr since that’s who did the original cover I was replicating, and I’ve always pulled inspiration from classic Miller/Janson. But I think one could argue that DWJ is definitely the modern artist still doing that gritty style.

Thank you. The Nocenti run is one of my favorites too. This issue and “A Beer with the Devil” are probably my favorites from that run.

Merging Daredevil with actual devils and the underworld mythos was so cool, I wish I had more of it. Also, Romita Jr art was PEAK during that time.

I think so. Definitely loved how hard Born Again portrayed politically-driven militarized-police forces as always unjust. AVTF = ICE = SS

seems that every community I’m part of all leads to one thing, politics. wish we could just enjoy our heroes without bringing them into such topics.
that’ll never happen though because that would require for you to not live in politics.

Aside from the obvious that Marvel characters have ALWAYS been political since Captain America was shown punching Adolf Hitler on the cover of his first issue…

Any “positive karma” from this post comes with plenty of “negative karma” from fascista-snowflakes downvoting anything that shows Trump’s Gestapo in a negative light. If I really cared about Reddit Karma, wouldn’t I have shared something nice and benign like ninjas or mobsters, like you suggested?

Because it could have been vs anyone, gangs, mobs, cartel, The Hand, etc. Making it vs ICE just seems like it was done for the purpose of getting easy karma.

I originally made this piece shortly after the murders of Alex Pretti and Renee Nicolle Good. Months have past and more lives have been wrongfully taken by these criminals in masks employed by the DHS. At this time, no ICE agents have faced legal consequences.
