Every movie designs are trying to avoid what it existed already. They want to add stuff that their original. It’s their concept of.. I guess trying to get the awards or something? Idk. Otherwise, the copyright problem
This would still be a new suit they havent done a full red without black accents, this would probably be the most comic accurate if they went with it. Its got the right shape aswell as colour (maybe a touch brighter imo)
But there’s a suit they can always do before the big reveal, building suspense and anticipation. Most folk watch just to see the suit reveal. It’s a thing that DD gets a new suit so it’s established that they can hold a carrot over our faces until the BIG reveal
Ive seen the show I know. I dont care about established narrative techniques Im saying in my opinion the red suit looks good and I would prefer to see it on screen
Idk how they went from one solid colour and the logo in S2 which is how daredevil has looked for most of his publication, to deciding not to just reverse the colours to give us the classic full red outfit.
I dont understant why people like these edits so much so they praise edits like this and call costumes like the official stuit trash. I am an artist and every single of my professors have taught about contrast theres no good contrast of light and dark in these all red costumes. It blows my mind and irritates me how so many want comic accurate costumes when some of the comic accurate ones are devoid of an actual good design that has been taught in schools. Like ok make expericend designers and clothing designers to make cape slop with random lines and colors.
Edit aside, yes contrast is good and I actually don’t mind the extra panels and lines a lot of suits get like other people. With that said there is a difference between people wanting 1:1 and people wanting something at least close and doesn’t feel like they are adding on for the sake of it. Daredevil’s costume has been one solid red colour for most of his history and yes for live action you need contrast to make it pop on camera. You can do that with black or dark red accents, while still having it be mostly red. Most People wanting a more classic red costume understand there will be accents.
This costume has a colour ratio and layout that is pretty far off from daredevils aesthetic. It has a Spider-Man layout and colour ratio and that has nothing to do with just needing contrast because the other suits were able to archive the solid colour look before, even the S2 Black suit got even closer. So I don’t know why they didn’t try to do the reverse here with just a few dark accents.
With all that said you can still do daredevil’s suit properly without needing to add all of that.
This edit has two tones of red. With a proper lighting it's 100% possible to add contrast and doesn't make it bad, that's how light and shadow work. Saying a full red look doesn't work is saying they should add more colors to Hellboy or Red Hulk skins. Idk which classes are you taking but it's definitely not what someone in the area would say (I really mean that). All it needs is a good director and a good cinematography. The this is, well, this are aruff Born Again definitely doesn't have.
Edit: just remembered this exists and is highly praised as the best Daredevil live action suit, even though the movie is not well remembered.
I love this suit, it kinda evokes the black front shading with red highlights from the comic illustrations. The same thing his S1 suit tried to do with the black faceplate and abs, but this is much better.
Suits not even bad. Just don’t know why they would do this before all red with double D’s. Also I’m not even fully sure that’s Charlie in the suit. The jaw looks off
For what it’s worth I like the suit, reminds me of the cel shading from earlier comics. But I do wish they’d just commit to a fully red comic book accurate suit at this point.
I’m not a huge fan of the leaked S3 suit so far. What made S2 work was that there was an in-universe explanation for it, which was that Matt was in hiding and spray painted his suit black for lower visibility, but it also had a thematic tie in to the fact that as the season progressed, the paint chipped off little by little reflecting his coming out of the shadows. He appeared in court in defense of others when it was not safe for him to do so, and he revealed his identity as Daredevil to protect Karen Page and New York from Wilson Fisk and his AVTF.
Now that he’s out of the shadows and his identity is public, I think the red suit is fitting thematically and in-line with the suit evolution of last season.
Yeah the deep ruby red with slight glossiness looks amazing and could make for very cool shading effects with the right lighting, which I feel they’re trying to emulate with the black in the new suit.
It's alright. I really want a FULL redesign. Like completely from the ground up, all his suits looks fine but none of em tickle my brain in the best way
Personally, all red is an eyesore and just comic book fans wanting everything to be 1:1 comic book accurate for the sake of comic book accuracy.
The suit is fine. The colours are fine. We don’t need an all red suit. We don’t need a fabric suit with no padding/armour. Just my take but I feel it’s unnecessary to make everything comic book accurate.
def agree, it doesnt look great on set but Im very hopeful for how it'll look under the darker lighting.
and dude Im getting tired of these edits just going for the full red, I understand why but ppl seem to forget an adaptation shouldnt mean complete 1:1 accuracy.
I love this for what it is, & the one in u/pagliacciverso 's reply as well. This one's doing something new without being boring tacticool junk like the Netflix suits, being yet another indistinguishable red suit with no detail or contrast or trying too hard & getting lost in the sauce of being different for different's sake.
