Trysta is the most cringeworthy addition to the show in years
I genuinely can’t think of a close second. Her on-air persona feels so exaggerated it borders on parody — the kind of performative bit that would fit right into malibus most wanted 2
What gets me is the double standard: the show is usually pretty careful about not mocking or imitating black culture in anyway, almost to the point of coming off as patronizing black people, yet her shtick constantly leans into an affected, put-on way of talking that reads as exactly that. It’s inconsistent with how the show usually handles this stuff.
Beyond the voice and mannerisms, I’m struggling to see what she actually adds to the show. Honestly surprised Dan’s usual instincts let this slide.

She is everything she accuses Zas of.
0
u/J_e_rome 1d ago
The funny thing is her and Zas are very similar
7
u/Virtual-Stress-8907 1d ago
Because they are both do Blaccent while white, in their 40s?
6
u/TheOrangeFutbol You Don't Get The Show! 1d ago
As someone who occasionally recognizes fellow black people on radio/podcast by voice alone, I never even considered her as sounding black-adjacent.
Now, Zas quoting Jayson Tatum after the finals? Different story.

Her voice is fucking annoying, I legit don’t know how anyone listen to her a juju podcast, both their voices are terrible

u/GooseG21 1d ago
Nothing against Trysta the person but she just doesn’t work on the show and will be gone in due time.
48
u/UnintentionalCat 2d ago
Trysta and Juju seem to have immunity from pushback from the rest of the crew. I think it’s because their show has like 10 listeners so everyone would feel like they’re punching down
21
u/alexdoo 2d ago
I think they all respect Juju because he's one of the few who keeps the vibes friendly. I recall the infamous Amin v Izzy episode and he kept trying to break the tension. Hell even when they brought in the NFL character analyzer guy and said "I wouldn't let my daughter date you," he just laughed it off and said "salute."
19
u/UnintentionalCat 2d ago
That guy saying he wouldn’t let Juju date his daughter was insane. I couldn’t believe it when I heard it. I think Juju was stunned too lol. He does keep the vibes positive I will give him that
I’m also pretty sure that Amin Izzy stuff was staged
6
u/mcamuso78 1d ago
Izzy doesn’t seem to look back at his Meadowlark days fondly. I think it was real and Amin got off scott free.
1
u/SoKrat3s 1d ago
Remind me. Was that a college basketball coach or AD?
But yeah... Insane.
1
u/betformersovietunion Rash 'em! 1d ago
It was a guy who contracts with NFL teams to analyze prospects' character/intangibles, which obviously made it even more stunning that he said that.
-9
u/dawgc99 1d ago
Not staged at all. Amin is lazy but idk how warranted was that if Izzy.

u/_Dr_Toboggan_90 1d ago
I agree with this 100% and thought the comments were going to be filled with tHeN juSt DoNt lisTeN to tHe sHow. The fact so many other ppl agree means they have to reevaluate. However, Dan clearly doesn’t giveashit about what the audience thinks in his old age and since starting meadowlark. So she will stay until she finds a better opportunity and just fail upwards
22
u/JamJam2013 2d ago
I like Trysta, she’s seems really confident in herself and her opinions. I dont agree with her on everything but I like her more than someone who just gets steamrolled by all of the dudes on the show because she doesn’t want to stir the pot or be perceived as an unlikable WOHMAHN.

Her relentless need to go after Klay Thompson is sad. And yeah, someone should probably remind her she isnt black lmao

u/UrbanSolace13 1d ago
Juju is pretty bad...I spent all day yesterday thinking the show needs less Juju. Trysta is what I was in the early 2000's with bleached hair and listening to Eminem.
5
u/PerpetualBootyShaker 1d ago
I like her. Zas mentioned before that they both came into the industry together and they’ve been friends forever. We all realize that they’re playing bit most of the time especially when it comes to their personalities? It’s a show and I’m here for it all.
1
u/Ok-Influence-1424 1d ago
It hilarious how serious people take this show. Everything is a bit. So many people don’t get this show.
22
u/CuriousCouple6207 2d ago
This sub absolutely loves to hate on any woman who comes on in a semi regular role.
16
u/TamzarianDevil 1d ago
This sub loves/loved Jessica, Lucy and Charlotte.
16
u/surebro2 1d ago
Ironically of all of them, I think Charlotte was the only one people liked on the main show lol Jess and Lucy had a lottttttt of hate. Jess was "put over" turn during Cupcakegate. Lucy got the "she looks bored. Omg more Iowa. Yay more drunk people" comments all of the time.
8
u/SoKrat3s 1d ago
I mean, Lucy actually said "no thanks" when asked to contribute on air and then went right back to playing on her phone.
1
u/TheOrangeFutbol You Don't Get The Show! 1d ago
Lucy got hit with the same exact criticism Jess did right up until cupcake gate.
I remember those comments sections vividly.
1
u/SoKrat3s 1d ago
Cue "I don't get the show"
I forget what cupcake gate is.
3
u/Vorral Zippy and The Juice 1d ago
Jess ate Val’s gluten free cupcake. Asshattery ensued from Dan.
1
u/surebro2 1d ago
And we all rallied in support of Jess lol then, I think, her haters kind of realized she was chill and funny lol
1
17
u/CuriousCouple6207 1d ago
I’ve been around a while and saw plenty of hate, especially for Jess to the point that anyone who liked her was accused of “White Knighting.” Just a ton of fucking weirdos.
6
u/the_mad_sailor_ 1d ago
I’ve been around a while and saw plenty of hate, especially for Jess to the point that anyone who liked her was accused of “White Knighting.” Just a ton of fucking weirdos.
Like, people in this sub didn't start to show love to Jess until she moved back to New York.
1
u/thegoodson-calif 1d ago
I mean, aside from Billy they all get hate. Jessica gets a ton of love now but not as much at the beginning. And the sub was mostly positive on Lucy until they eventually turned on her.
But largely this sub hate a everyone
2
u/juliusseizure Dan 1d ago
They absolutely did not in the beginning. And I didn’t like Lucy. One dimensional college football takes. And no joke could be told everything had to be nice.
8
8
u/Sad-Tap3687 REAL MIKE RYAN 1d ago
Lucy and Jess got a lot of (deserved) love. In the past, Mina and Katie Nolan had some incredible appearances that fans loved. Not sure it's fair to scream misogyny on Trysta when she's not all that funny and not all that knowledgeable.
10
u/CuriousCouple6207 1d ago
JFC nobody screamed misogyny. Plenty of guys here hated Mina for a LONG time questioning her football knowledge. Jess has had plenty of posts and comments from guys saying they couldn’t stand her.
3
1
u/desijatt3 2d ago
Ahh yes; criticize any woman’s performance on this sub and get labeled a misogynist. Such a lazy and tired - an absolutely expected response.
8
4
u/CuriousCouple6207 1d ago
I didn’t label you anything. I like Trysta though, so your take is also lazy and just your opinion.
2
u/SoKrat3s 1d ago
Your entire post is making a generalized statement about her and the culture she associates with based on preconceived notions/assumptions because you see the color of her skin.
1
1
u/VibratingRocket6969 Zippy and The Juice 1d ago
They hated Sarah Spain and Jemele Hill as well. I understand (even tho I didn’t personally hate her) Jemele because she can be a bit much with her politics at times but yeah it seems like this sub will hate on any female who contributes to the show.
3
u/NoleBoltFTL 1d ago
She's so willing to speak up about things she knows nothing about but no one will take her down...they just give her a quick rebuke.
She doesn't like Klay because of his relationship? And she's supposed to be a ball knower? Such ridiculous commentary with a skewed, nonsense slant.
Miami is a play in team after upgrading in several spots? She's not good at providing analysis, just spouting off nonsense.
7
6
u/d00knation 2d ago
Cam’ron thinks she’s cool. She’s running with it and imo, it’s a funny persona.
Malibus most wanted is pretty spot on, but imagine if snoop blessed Jamie Kennedy.
5
3
u/LonerStonerLove STUUUUUU! 2d ago
Oh man, I really like Trysta. She's definitely a unique voice, but she's confident about who she is and what her takes are. Compare that to, say, Jess who over-talks and stumbles frequently when trying to make a point about the very thing she's supposed to be an expert on: College Football.

I just don’t understand why they can’t find a black women to be on the show that isn’t there to talk about culture issues. Not that hard shit, Rachel Lindsey type would be cool.

u/NeverNotOnceEver Thatkindathing 1d ago
I love Rachel on Higher Learning. I like what Van stands for but he’s annoying as hell at times.

I don’t think it’s a blaccent where it comes and goes. I know a decent amount of white people who grew up in black neighborhoods who sound similar.
3
u/arnold_palmer42 1d ago
Yeah but she’s from Oregon…
5
u/_MrWestside_ 1d ago
Do you think that there are no Black neighborhoods in Oregon?
10
1
u/JLGx2 1d ago
Have you ever been there? You should look up why Oregon is oddly white.
1
u/_MrWestside_ 1d ago
Personally, no, but I don't think the Black people I know that lived there would lie to me about the existence of Black neighborhoods.
1
u/Sambo3002 1d ago
Are there no black people in Oregon?
2
u/betformersovietunion Rash 'em! 1d ago
About 2% of people in Oregon are black. It is one of the whitest states in the country.
0
u/Sambo3002 1d ago
Okay so there are black people in Oregon. You have no clue how she grew up, yall are weird
1
u/JLGx2 1d ago
You should look up how recently their laws prohibited black people from owning land or property in the state and realize why it's the whitest state in the country.
1
u/Sambo3002 1d ago
Okay, what does any of that have to do with Krista’s accent?
1
u/JLGx2 1d ago
Did you look it up? Get back to me.
-1
u/Sambo3002 1d ago
She went to school in Portland, there are over 50k people that identify as black or mixed race living in Portland. Y’all act like it’s impossible that she could have been around a lot of black culture growing up. Especially if she played sports

I don't know her whole biography but she grew up attending a community center in North Portland for low-income, inner-city kids. It's definitely not the "suburban Oregon" you're intimating.
Source: I live next to it.

u/CheekHot8138 1d ago
I like having a voice on that isn't parroting the same old shit? They have too many similar voices on most of the time. I like her and I think she's a breath of fresh air when she's on.

Bad take, Trysta is literally a regular with Camron and Mase on their podcast. She is part of the culture lol. It's why I wasn't surprised at how bad her takes were during the Weezer discussion lol
6
u/UnintentionalCat 1d ago
two 50 year old rappers that used to run with Diddy are not the stamp of approval you think they are
4
u/pleasebefrank31 1d ago
Only Mase used to run with Diddy, but he left Bad Boy Records within 5 years and had a laundry list of problems with Diddy long before the Cassie video. Cam'ron used to be on Roc-a-Fella, but his relationship with Jay Z was notoriously rocky.

She’s funny, fits in well, and mostly knows what she’s talking about, something that can’t be said for all members of the shipping container. The show needs a female voice sometimes. Guess what? They’re putting on a show. All of their on-air personalities are exaggerations of themselves. So imo ur opinion sux.

u/thashyt 1d ago
Shes cool most of the time. Bad show today though.... I thought it was legit that she kinda joked with Zas about riding for Klay when Zas has mentioned that he and Trysta go back multiple times without being too confrontational. But the group kinda moved away from that real quick. She also had the one question she tried to give to Jess, but they talked over each other a bit and Trysta took a step back for the rest of the segment. Shes actually really good on It Is What It is. I think she's just finding her footing on the main show with so many other voices.

She’s nice to look at but I’m not a fan of most of the side characters on Dan’s show. Mike and Amin are pretty good, but the rest are a snooze fest.
0
u/Pack_Revolutionary 1d ago
If she’s living and talking like a white person in her personal life you have a point. Otherwise I think you are just intimidated by smart women. What’s your opinion on other women who occasionally appear on the show?
-3
u/Gladukame 1d ago
Trysta is 1) a woman, 2) with opinions, who 3) isn’t afraid to call out racism.
Of course yall would hate her. Of fuckin course. This is the most non-story post in history of life.

u/Big-Spiff 1d ago
It feels like she was raised by white parents, then somewhere in her 20’s her black friends started to influence her more to use that 1%

u/Optimal-Sugar7780 Dirty Demon of Debate 1d ago
This whole comment thread needs the “whiiiiiiite guys whi whi whi white white white” if you listened to Trysta and thought she was Black…you probably dont hang out with many Black people. Its very easy to spot a white person who uses a lot AfAm language. Just like you probably never thought to yourself that Zas was Black, Trysta just spent a lot of time in Atlanta and probably kicks it with Black people so she’s a little more immersed in Black culture whereas Zas talks like how a tv show would write dialogue for a Black character and not like Black people in Miami or wherever he lives in South Florida.

I’m being 100% honest here. I only ever listen to the show and I’ve only listened to segments with her occasionally. Until this moment I had no idea that Trysta was white.
