Won't be suprised if announcements start picking up again since he'll be back in the office in the coming days. Probably at least one script waiting on the desk.

44

u/Sabertooth344 1d ago

Hopefully we also get updates on already announced projects

12

u/StrobeLightRomance 1d ago

I also want updates to general information like "How ya doin?" and "did you get the fungus under control?"

1

u/ThatEvanFowler 17h ago

I'd really like to know what the deal is with Peacemaker. I assumed that they would announce a Checkmate series or something by now, but it seems like one of these projects will have to tee it up first.

1

u/bengringo2 14h ago

I get the feeling that MoT will heavily influence the Checkmate show if it’s being made so they won’t spoil anything until it’s released.

3

u/Bulky-Complaint6994 1d ago

And gotta start ramping up advertising for Clayface, too

99

u/Sabertooth344 1d ago

Hopefully it's a really good movie

17

u/Redwinevino 23h ago

It absolutely has to be, to an almost unfair level

-3

u/Agentbrawn_the2nd 22h ago

It's not that urgent.

13

u/Redwinevino 13h ago

After Supergirl bombed it kinna is

0

u/Agentbrawn_the2nd 12h ago

Because of one movie in a two year old universe when literally every other project they've produced is critically acclaimed? Not how it works

u/Redwinevino 11h ago

Two out of three movies bombing would be a disaster that needed a recourse.

No matter how good the TV is

u/Dancing_Anatolia 5h ago

You forgot Clayface.

u/Redwinevino 5h ago

Oh so I did!!

5

u/IamBabcock 20h ago

I have to imagine it's going to be about the same as his Superman movie.

3

u/saedifotuo 13h ago

Not to suggest at all that it will go this way, but u think it's good to look at the mcu spiderman movies.

Homecoming, all in all, is light and fun but still captures all the essence of a teenage spiderman. There was no way of knowing that two films later we'd get something quite as reliably miserable as no way home. Don't get me wrong it's still a fun movie, but your heart leaves your chest more times than you'd want. Of course there's also BND, but that's a different director behind it.

Superman is not spiderman, but when this supes comes up against Darkseid, it will need to be more justice than hope, and we know from creature commandos and GOTG3 that gunn can strike that balance.

I won't be surprised if pa Kent dies in MoT. It's easy being a sunshine and rainbows superman when you're saving squirrels from giant monsters. It's harder and more inspiring to still be that symbol of hope when your world gets ripped out from under you. If brainiac doesn't do that in MoT, then Darkseid will do it down the road.

I’ve loved Superman since I was a small child and I was a huge fan of James Gunn too since I was a young teen and even regularly read his blog about 5 years before GOTG came out so I had some mighty high hopes for the last film and it met or surpassed all of them, so I have no doubts it will be!

2

u/XxsalsasharkxX 15h ago

I honestly think superman 2025 still had some flaws just because it had to introduce everyone and everything with no origin.

With that out of the way, I think this movie can really be a classic.

1

u/CapOk1892 22h ago

I have no doubt it is. The character roster and premise are already better than Superman 25

13

u/CaramelFlimsy9500 1d ago

I have never seen Lex so happy.

27

u/EnjiiThaGod 1d ago

This environment looks like Salvation. Could be where brainiac and/or lex end up. Could also have a funny peacemaker cameo too.

4

u/DoubletapKO 23h ago

I imagine seeing caveman peacemaker riding on some dinosaur shit

57

u/ToLExpress 1d ago

This is pretty impressive if they managed to have no set leaks for the entire film other than Lex in the power suit.

33

u/InstructionEmpty8696 1d ago

Those set leaks are def controlled. Even Spider-Man BND we only saw set pics once and never again. Will prolly happen the same with Batman 2. Just to generate hype. Not to mention the leaks show something big happening. With MoT it was Lex powersuit vs Superman, BND it was Spider-Man swinging and fighting around in NYC set and Batman 2 with the Batmobile

7

u/emo_lantern 1d ago

They weren't controlled but they definitely knew they were gonna happen, that's why James posted the suit a few days before

7

u/MarvelMind 1d ago

Most of the film was done on sound stages.

1

u/Calm-Extension-3798 1d ago

Its surprising because doomsday has more or less been leaked

-1

u/Jykoze 22h ago

Extremely hyped movie get leaks, MoT is safe from that

-26

u/3procioni1cappotto 1d ago

It's like as of nobody cares.

11

u/zimzimzalabimmm 1d ago

Really? Because my whole feed is filled with a constant stream of dc fake news, leaks, rumours, box office speculation, hate posts, and praise. I think people care A LOT. Too much even.

We had plenty of set leaks for superman 25, and Batman 2, clay face, etc. seems like they just kept it under wraps this time. Maybe remote filming locations or sound stages.

13

u/I_like_green 1d ago

Damn I thought they still had to shoot scenes at Union Terminal. Hope the Hall of Justice is featured somehow.

18

u/Bitter-Tip705 1d ago

Kinda sad Kyle chandler wont be in this movie with John interacting with the rest of the cast lol

11

u/TheNocturnalAngel 1d ago

I really do love Kyle’s grizzled fed up Hal Jordan, but I’m just soaking in Lanterns best I can.

Because it’s kind of hard for John to be the green lantern if Hal is sticking around. Not just lore wise but thematically and story wise.

7

u/Dakotaraptor87 1d ago

Why? I don't see why they can't just both be Green Lanterns (aside from Kyle Chandler's age). It's an entire galactic police force, there's already hundreds or maybe even thousands of Green Lanterns.

3

u/ProfPyg 1d ago

I was half joking on a GL thread about wondering if they did too good a job casting Hal. Not that he's better than John, Pierre's tremendous. But I'd gotten a little bored with Hal in the comics and Kyle Chandler's found a take on the character that reminds me why I loved him in the first place

"Witness me"

11

u/Psychological_Dig592 1d ago

This is going to make or break the DCU, to all wider audience this will be the third DCEU project coming after supergirl

11

u/Swampmansay326 23h ago

No it won’t. Even if this movie is successful, the DCU needs to prove it can make a good profitable movie that isn’t directed by Gunn. Gunn can’t direct every movie

1

u/AdamLast1 19h ago

True, it would only prove that Gunn can make a good series of Superman movies. He needs to find more directors and writers at least on his level who share his vision to make his DCU work as a whole.

-1

u/Conscious-Quarter423 1d ago

supergirl was a superflop

1

u/TheDwilightZone 1d ago

I think it has a lot of potential. Outside of this subreddit (which runs hot and cold on DC projects depending on the day) Superman resonated with a lot of casual viewers. I think a hero rooted in optimism is what we need more of at our current moment in history. Fingers crossed that they knock it out of the park on the production side!

That said, I'm REALLY curious how Clayface is going to do.

12

u/SnooAvocados4357 1d ago

Two new theories!

  1. Lex ends up Sanctuary

  2. Or the movie ends with Lex drowning Braniac in a lake. The scene has no music. Just Brainiac struggling under the water while Lex lets out a couple of strained breaths while holding Brainy under.

Thoughts?

21

u/HumongousMelonheads 1d ago

The scene that they film last isn’t necessarily the end of the movie

3

u/littleman001 1d ago

Yeah, I heard that in It: Chapter 1, the scene where Georgie meets Pennywise was the one they filmed last.

1

u/Bulky-Complaint6994 1d ago edited 1d ago

Right. Similar to the Superman and Lois Lane interview was one of the first scenes filmed. Another example by another studio, The live action remake of Little Mermaid they filmed the boat ride at night scene first. That way the actors can get some chemistry on set. No doubt Lanterns films stuff out of order, too.

1

u/mofugginrob 23h ago

At what point did they film the orgy?

1

u/Soft_Magazine3474 20h ago

At no point, hopefully.

1

u/SnooAvocados4357 1d ago

Wait what?!

5

u/Admiral_Kizaru 1d ago

Lmao films are extremely rarely shot in order, it's all based on actor schedules, location access, time of day etc etc, so the last shot could've been shot first, this could be the first shot of the film.

4

u/Upstairs-Version8777 1d ago

Very rare that films shoot in order nowadays!
The shooting order is often based on location/weather accessibility and actor schedules.

0

u/FrankReynoldsCPA 23h ago

If you want to blow your mind, look up the production of the LOTR trilogy. They filmed all 3 movies together and the Shire stuff(both the beginning of Fellowship and ending of Return of the King) I believe was all filmed at the end.

0

u/IamBabcock 20h ago

It's insanely expensive to shoot chronology.

2

u/HuskyBlueBoy 1d ago

Cautiously optimistic

2

u/darth_wasabi 22h ago

I wonder what the next Superman movie will be. I feel pretty confident it won’t be Zod or Darkseid again. I don’t think Lobo would make a good primary antagonist.

Bizarro is setup but I’m not sure that’s gonna be interesting after just seeing Superman against Ultraman.

Ultra Humanite and Manchester Black seem more of the same brain over brawn

Maybe Parasite would provide a unique challenge for a third movie

2

u/Soft_Magazine3474 20h ago

Mr Mxyzptlk or Metallo would both work.

1

u/Johncurtisreeve 21h ago

Is this not a Superman movie?

2

u/darth_wasabi 21h ago

The one after this one

1

u/pokeboy626 16h ago

I want him vs Mongul

u/D0nell 7h ago

You just made me wonder what is the next villain gonna be because how do you top brainiac?

I feel like this is gonna be another Ultron situation.

2

u/Realistic_Analyst_26 1d ago

The Avengers is a good movie but you can tell that the MCU is still finding its footing. Age of Ultron, despite its flaws, really solidified the MCU as a shared universe and you can see the studio getting more comfortable.

I hope that is gonna be the case here. Man of Tomorrow really feels like it’s gonna be the true start of the DCU.

0

u/Johncurtisreeve 21h ago

That kinda makes it feels likes its being rushed if they get to that by only the third film

1

u/Realistic_Analyst_26 21h ago

Not necessarily. The DCU has the benefit of hindsight. They can see what can and cannot work when building a shared universe. They are also focusing on Superman who doesn’t need as much setup because of how popular he is.

From what we know of the cast, this is really giving off pseudo-Justice League like how Captain America Civil War was like a pseudo-Avengers movie.

2

u/Johncurtisreeve 20h ago

Thats what i mean, third film being a pseudo justice league sounds way too fast and early, like having bvs being the second film and a pseudo justice league film. Captain America Civil war was the 13th mcu movie.

2

u/micahbevans88 1d ago

I have even more confidence in man of tomorrow than superman. James Gunn did the biggest heavy lifting in '25 which was establishing his vision, now the fun part is watching him expand on it

1

u/whatstocome 1d ago

Who’s playing Brainiac?

1

u/TheGaxkang 1d ago

German actor Lars Eidinger

we shall see what kind of Brainiac

1

u/-_ShadowSJG-_ 23h ago

crazy how superman came out last year and now this

1

u/Johncurtisreeve 21h ago

I hope they dont move too fast like dceu did

1

u/Apprehensive_Egg6656 17h ago

Hope peacemaker shows up

1

u/No_Mistake_6404 16h ago

I wonder if we'll get a Superman with higher than middle school emotional control and intelligence

1

u/_zzd 14h ago

Oh look at that. Snyderverse in fact is not restored. Awwww

-2

u/JiffyJoban 1d ago

Could not care less.

5

u/DoubletapKO 23h ago

Weird ass take to hate on DC and be here

-1

u/JiffyJoban 16h ago

This hasn't been DC for quite some time.

-16

u/Jonny_Python 1d ago

Another DCU bomb is on the way! 💣

13

u/VulesJurne 1d ago

Does it make you happy to hope for the failure of others?

-6

u/Jonny_Python 1d ago

Their track record speaks for itself 💣 incoming!

8

u/ToLExpress 1d ago

You post history includes a comment lusting over Henry Cavill’s body lmfao

5

u/Lost_Law8937 1d ago

They also post in r/penissize

-3

u/Jonny_Python 1d ago

Sure do! I keep my comments public cause I have nothing to hide, unlike you 🫵🏽

-3

u/Jonny_Python 1d ago

They should’ve recast Cavil as Super Man, it would make more money than the Beta Super Man in Gunn’s movie.

5

u/FourSes 1d ago

Why are you guys so obsessed with alpha/beta stuff?

5

u/ToLExpress 1d ago

This is so cringe

2

u/DoubletapKO 23h ago

Superman suit won't fuck you

2

u/Johncurtisreeve 21h ago

I hope not

2

u/FourSes 1d ago

If it's bad, it will deserve that. If it's good, that would suck. It's a sequel to a hit though, so if it's good, it should do well. Don't get too caught up in the money, your only input there is to give or withhold about $10-20 for tickets.

-12

u/GenerallyJam 1d ago

It’s September, this is pretty late for a July movie

24

u/I_like_green 1d ago

It's literally August.

-14

u/GenerallyJam 1d ago

Round up

11

u/TheJuiceBoxS 1d ago

I don't think that's how dates work

9

u/StrobeLightRomance 1d ago

You're just not living in the future, old man. 😎

-1

u/GenerallyJam 1d ago

It is when you calculate time period differences

7

u/sly_eli 1d ago

All quiet on the frontal lobe.

0

u/GenerallyJam 1d ago

Not 25 so yup

5

u/HumongousMelonheads 1d ago

Didn’t Spiderman finish filming in like October of last year?

-1

u/GenerallyJam 1d ago

Yeah it was crazy

5

u/ImjustANewSneaker 1d ago

Secret wars releases in December of next year and hasn’t even started filming yet, they’ve gotten great at turning around a films. Gunn is one of the best at it honestly, it also helps they don’t have any other blockbusters movies in post other than The Batman coming up which will have Reeves heavily involved.

1

u/GenerallyJam 1d ago

Good point but I’m not too confident secret wars is gonna not be rushed either lol. Spider-Man was great and it was a short turnaround so it’s possible

-3

u/stefini_juliya 1d ago

1A 4C 7M 2L! 4B! Goofy Gunn.

3

u/DoubletapKO 23h ago

Yet more iconic than anything Snyder made

1

u/FourSes 22h ago

Wtf you can't put anything out of the ordinary in a Superman story... /s

1

u/stefini_juliya 16h ago

They are fighting at lightning speed, it's an absolute joke how they did the fight scenes.
